One Year Post Op, No Results. Please Help

I found through talking it out on here and with my sister in law...banded 2 years ago. That I have been eating too SLOW. My loss has been really slow, but I am already at 7.4 fill in a 10cc band. I actually canceled my fill for this week because I think I need to work on my eating habits before getting another fill. I am going to.try and stick to the rule of Proteins first and finish eating within 30 minutes. Until now, I have been eating really slowly in order to finish all the food on my plate. Which basically, I was eating all the time and feeling no real restriction. Even my best friend has said repeatedly "it does not matter how slow the band makes I eat..if you are still consuming the same amount of calories!" -
My sister in law was banded 2.years.ago. I was banded 7 months ago.

I was told I learned to eat around my band, and that it was rare. Reading these posts, I think that is untrue. You can and very many people do learn to eat around the band, resulting in slower weight loss. I even had yo have fluid taken out of my band because of it. I was very upset and even cried about it. I went in thinking I was going to get a fill because my weight loss was slow and I was hungry. The problem was that the band was too tight, do instead of eating proteins that made me choke, I was eating softer stuff, and not the healthy soft stuff. Now I can eat solid protein, very small portions. I feel more satisfied. I'm still learning to make better choices, but now that I am understanding where I went wrong I feel much better. Example...I love Starbucks...classified under liquid calorie danger...I now drink regular brewed coffee with Splenda and 1 or 2 international delights single serve flavor packs. Satisfies my sugar and coffee craving. doing this, even when I was drinking low fat and skinny lattes, I went from between 120~300 Cal drink to 40!! Now my process is learning how to do that with other foods.

Thanks! I think you hit the nail on the head. I talked to the nurse about eating around the band and for the most part I was eating correctly. what I failed to mention and consider was that although eating slowly, I am eating TOO slowly. So basically I am eating so slowly that I don't give myself time to get full! I just keep eating. I am working on the proteins too. I have been told to lay off the protein shakes and work on solid proteins.

I still go to my doc monthly for monitoring and fills. during my visit two months ago, I was told I had learned to eat around band, which is supposedly rare. However, reading through this site, it appears relatively common. I tell the doc I feel like I am in the yellow...hungry between meals...slow weight loss...they still won't fill. Or make me feel like I am wrong.

Abs~ mfp stops at 1200 cals. My band doc/nurse says my Cal intake should be 900 cals, 1000 max. So I just try to leave 200 cals at the end of the day.

Sept.31 here! I have been doin my fitness pal, tracking calories and logging, but still slow. Trying to stay positive. Not gonna lie and say I've been on point with my choices regularly, but definitely enough to lose weight.

Gets tough. I realize this is only an aid, but it's,hard not to compare urself to others that have lost quickly. I have lost less than 30 lbs in six months, makes me feel,as though I should have stayed with weight watchers instead of having surgery. Counting calories....using a diary.

Has Anyone Ever Been Prescriped Phentermine In Addition To Their Fill?
roro37 replied to shelbymooy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's hard. I feel like my surgery was a failure and his success has been almost immediate. I have already been through one surgery. Don't think I can handle going through another surgery, emotionally or financially. My bmi was barely enough to be approved for the band. I am just so tired of justifying my slow weight loss when even I don't believe it anymore. I keep telling myself the slower it comes off, the better chance I have of it staying off,no sagging.skin,etc. still does not make me feel any better. -
Has Anyone Ever Been Prescriped Phentermine In Addition To Their Fill?

It's a weight loss surgery where your intestine is cut and your stomach as well. results in smaller stomach pouch and you really can't absorb nutrients. Have to take multiple vitamins for the rest of your life. I personally wouldn't do it because of all the aftercare involved, and it just doesn't seem healthy overall..but the weight loss is so fast. -
I am in the same boat. Frustrated that my fills.are not yeilding results. I had my surgery in October and have only lost 24 lbs! have a 10 cc band.filled to 7. I had it unfilled once because I could not eat protein, meats. Doc said I needed to eat more solid proteins and I would feel full and lose weight. I have had 5 fills total! I tell the doc am still hungry and appear to always been in yellow....slow weight with hunger in between meals, but she insists the band is workin and I need to do more on my end. I started out at 224! Figured I would be at least 40 lbs down by now. My partner got duodenal switch two Weeks ago and already lost 30 lbs! Feel like I should have come that route.
