  1. My band is totally empty. He filled it with 4 and 4 was removed Friday. I think I will thin out the foods I am allowed even more than I have been and hopefully as the weight comes down, the coughing will subside.
  2. I have a 10 cc band. I wasn't sure at first that it was all band related as my high blood pressure med also causes a cough, but my BP has actually been low, so we discontinued it as of Friday. While I am obese at 240, I didn't think I was qualified for a larger one. I will call him tomorrow and ask about it. It is bothersome for sure, but not a deal breaker.
  3. I have had a constant cough since getting my band. It can happen when eating, several hours after eating, and even wakes me up in the middle of the night. I try to take a drink to help, but it doesn't. I have also tried sucking on a mint, but it didn't help either. I even tried a Tums in case it was some sort of heartburn/reflux, but nope. They removed all 4 cc's out of my band Friday because of the other issues I had. What is this and how do I stop it?
  4. I went in this morning and they removed all 4 cc's that had been put in with my band. The relief was instant! From here on out, my fills will be slow so as not to cause this again!
  5. After another hiccup filled sleepless night, I called the doctor. They had me come right in and it turns out my band already had 4 cc's. I was under the impression they didn't fill it at all until my 1st appt which was scheduled for 5/29. I felt relief instantly! Gas pains I can deal with, but the heartburn/reflux crap, not so much! I am almost 36, and have NEVER had heartburn/reflux! So glad I called! They said that I should be fine with future fills, but they will go with small ones!
  6. It isn't really pain in my chest, just some pressure, I guess, and feeling the need to burp, but can't.
  7. I also was drinking without a straw, but for the last 20 years, I have only used a straw. I tried a straw today, and I didn't notice any difference. Could the gas they use during surgery be what I am feeling in my chest, below my throat and above my stomach?
  8. By far, yesterday was my worst day. Today has been good. But I notice when I stand up, I get the hiccups, or after drinking any amount at any temperature. I also feel the constant need to burp, but I cant. I am also passing crazy gas! I have been using the Gas X strips 4x a day, chewing a few tums, and even took a Zantac. Tomorrow I can have creamed soups, so I have not had any solid food yet.
  9. I feel much better this morning. Maybe I just needed to use the Gas X more regularly. I have been up and moving around, I walk down the hallways to my kitchen, and stand and sway back and forth while I take a drink. I feel like I drink all day long, but maybe I still need to increase it more. I was also thinking that maybe the lemonade is just too acidic.
  10. No, there was no hernia repair. I will call the doctor in the morning.
  11. I was banded Friday afternoon, and had been feeling fine. Clear liquids for 48 hours, and now protein shakes, smoothies, pudding, etc. I was so miserable Tuesday because I hadn't had a BM, but finally did last night. This morning I had some water and lemonade, and took a short nap (because I haven't slept well since surgery). As soon as I woke up, my throat was BURNING! Tears were running from my eyes, water did nothing. I felt nauseous, my head was POUNDING, I was light headed. I chewed 2 tums, and drank milk straight out of the carton. That helped a bit. But tonight, I still feel like there is a burp stuck in my chest, and I am passing gas like crazy. I have been using the Gas X strips since last night. I have never had heart burn, reflux, indigestion, etc. Has anyone else had this?

    May Bandsters!

I was banded Friday the 4th...I am pretty uncomfortable. Hopefully after some sleep, which is difficult because of pain, life will feel better.
