Congrats! June 7 will be here before you know it!
-
I'm so excited for you! That's awesome!!
-
I was allowed to have Cream of Wheat at day 3. You will be fine. I ate other things ahead of time because I was starving. When I told the doc at my post op appt she said its probably because I healed a lot faster and my swelling was down. I hardly believe that this will ruin my success with the lapband. I'm not encouraging anyone to disregard doctors orders.

Not Losing Any Weight On Lapband Starting To Feel Discouraged
Sara75 replied to Yolanda Swing-banks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's weird. Are you focusing on getting your proteins and water in?? That's the only thing I can think if unless you have a thyroid problem or something. -
Pbmls, no. It was just a post op but I feel like I'm healing so well and ready for restriction. About your pain, you may have irritated or torn the muscle like I did the other day. Just keep resting but if it doesn't go away in a few days I would call your doc.

Hi there. I had my post-op today (banded the 18th) and all is well. My first fill isn't till June 26th. All my swelling is down so I'm eating just about as much as normal. Only problem is that I seemed to have torn the muscle wear my port is sewn in so I'm having almost as much pain as the day of surgery. The nurse said it'll have to re-heal. I can't wait till my first fill!!

So I'm only 5 days out and I'm frustrated that I suck. Some of you may have seen posts from me prior about how horrible I'm doing but I guess I need to vent. If I could stand being hungry and drinking Protein shakes constantly I would have lost weight long ago with out the surgery. I had the surgery because I need the restriction to force myself to eat smaller portions. Now I feel even worse about myself because I went to the extreme to have surgery and I'm still failing. I admire everyone that is doing so well and not hungry. But I am hungry constantly and already messing up the diet! 3 more weeks till my first fill!! Thanks for letting me vent.

Oh Well - So Much For That
Sara75 replied to eyeononederland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in your shoes several years back. It's a stupid rule because at the time I could prove I was gaining and gaining each year. Here I am several years later over 100 lbs over weight and just had my surgery. If only they had done it years ago! Good luck to you! I hope you find another tool that works for you, -
I everyone. I'm having such a hard time sticking to the post-op diet. I can and have eaten more than full liquids at this point and have had no trouble doing so. I have 2 young kids that I'm with all day and it's been so hard trying to fix them meals without having some myself. I'm only 5 days post-op!!! I need to get this! Ok, next meal is only a protein shake, protein shake, protein shake, protein shake.....AAARRGGHH!!!

Thanks for the encouragement. I really needed it!

Trying A Protein Shake Tonight To See If I Like It

I also like the Nectar Chocolate Truffle. They also have a flavor called Fuzzy Navel that's not too bad and there's 0 sugar and 0 fat in them. I had a hard time blending them, especially the Fuzzy Navel flavor. When I put it in the blender it would get all foamy which would make it hard for me to drink. But, my Mom gave me the idea of making them ahead of time and putting them back in the fridge for a day so all the foam would go away. Good luck! -
DaisyChains- my incisions just itch really bad. If you're having pain I would definitely call your doc.
-
Tere- theres no shame in your weight, we all start somewhere. I was not far behind you at my heaviest. One thing my doc told me that sunk in was that the lapband is just a tool to help you lose weight. It won't do the work for you and there are definitely ways to cheat it for example, drinking high calorie beverages or eating ice cream which will slide right through your band. I'm only 5 days post op and I'm finding it difficult to stay on the post op diet because I want to eat everything and feel like I can since my band doesn't get filled for a few more weeks. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted.

How Quick Is This Process ....
Sara75 replied to cmoody821's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery last Friday, May 18. It's going well but since I haven't had a fill yet I feel no restriction. I'm trying to follow the post op diet but it's been hard because I don't feel much different than before. However with the pre-op and post-op diet I've lost about 13 pounds so that's good. -

That told me that my blood tests were only good for a month. I have Anthem and it went very fast when I had everything turned in. Good luck. My guess is within 30 days you'll be having surgery. -
Hi all- I was a May 18 as well. Recovery is going well although I feel like I have no restriction and could eat anything.
-
Well, I officially over did it tonight. I walked with my (almost) two year old and 5 year old to the park and after being there for 30 minutes or so I started getting very light-headed. Fortunately one of my neighbors was at the park and helped me and the kids get home. No likey!!

DaisyChains7- sounds like your doing well. How much longer till your first fill?
-
Daisychains7, when was your surgery?
-
Just had some soft noodles with butter, a very small portion. I'm waiting to see how my body reacts but I wanted some real food so bad.
-
I haven't taken any pain meds today (3 days post op) because I have to drive my son to 1/2 day Pre-K. I feel pretty good though, still sore but not so bad I can't do without the meds. I was also able to shower and pull bandages (not the white stitch things) off.

AZHoseLady-No, I'm not back to work yet. Since I'm waitressing right now my doc advised not to go back for two weeks since it's pretty strenuous work. I may go back and pick up a shift here and there if I'm feeling better though. Unlike some of you, I'm craving food. My family had pizza for dinner last night and I wanted some so bad. Even though I'm craving it I'm scared to try because of the consequences, especially since my stomach is still sore and I can't imagine throwing up with it being this sore. I guess we just wait for our fill and see what happens? I do like the weight loss I'm seeing though. My highest weight was 296 last fall. I lost about 13 pounds from the waitressing job but due to the liquid diet before surgery I was down to 269 the morning of surgery. This morning I was 263. Yeah! I'm so glad you all are going through this with me. This forum really does help.

I'm on day 3 and had cream of wheat for breakfast (my doc said I could) and it was good. However I feel no restriction whatsoever and feel like I could eat anything with no consequence. I don't get filled for another 4 weeks. Does anyone else feel this way? I'm sticking to the diet, just scared because I don't feel much different than I did before my surgery.
