    Ensure Protein Drink

I love my eas carb control chocolate shakes. I use them post op and my starbucks will heat them for me with the steamer. I mix in my multi Vitamin and volia Breakfast. 100 cal _ 4 carbs from fiber and 17 protein_ and I dont puke when I take my vitamin! Good luck. From now on remember.... Everything that goes in your mouth should have 3 times the Protein than carbs. If its 50/50 half the carbs should be fiber. Water is an exception, but then again there isnt anything in water to count.

    New Here

Get liquids down! Protein and vitamins can wait until u are less swollen. The drinkable soups are awesome. When you can start eating take it slow, chew well and avoid carbs like the plague. Fruit is great but use sparingly. And check out the world according to eggface blog. Let me know if I can help with anything. Brook

  8. I'm swearing by yardsellr. Com for buying and selling. Out with the big and in with the smaller.
  9. I'm lucky to have such a supporting work crew. Not one day goes by that someone doesn't comment. I was at my desk and our general manager walks in and goes right past me. He asks my boss if I'm in today. I said I'm right here and he reply sorry I didn't see you. I laughed and said wait 6 months and I'll be non existent. He took it as a joke but I'm hoping I get an offer with better pay when I'm smaller! Lol

    Pain Meds

I took them before bed for the first week just so I could sleep through the night without feeling myself move. Yeah for liquid Vicodin!

    Hiccups??

Hiccups tell me that my sleeve is full. It how I know not to over eat my sleeve and feel crappy. Once a hiccup comes during a meal I am done. Just to give you a mental picture. There is a point in your esophagus that it kinda splits off. The esophagus goes to the stomach and the trachea goes to the lungs. There is a little flap over the top of the trachea that prevents food from going into the lungs. When something gets stuck on the top of the flap your body hiccups to get it off the flap so you can breathe normally again. Think of it as air pushing up the lid so it can open. When my sleeve is full it backs up into my esophagus and hinders the trachea until my sleeve digests some of the food below it. Kinda weird but hey at least I have a clue now. My stomach was never full with clues before VSG!

    Post-Op - Can you use a straw?

Just watch the air intake...the only time I use one is protein shakes. Bit other than protein shakes I only drink bottled water so I guess that's moot. Lol
  22. I'm a huge fan of the smoothie king gladiator mix. Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry is available. 45 grams of protein to 2 carbs. Amazing!

    Is this normal?

My doc advanced me to smooshies at my one week follow up. I was on solid foods at week 3.5, mostly fish and seafood products. Granted they are well chewed and artfully chosen. I have not had trouble with anything new. I had 2 ribs one night in week 4 and they went down heavy so I will postpone those for awhile. Everyone is different. Find your tell and then plan on under eating.
