    Completely frustrated.

I do want to add, that I k ow the band can work and it did work for me the first eight months before it broke. I am praying for insurance approval to have it removed and have RNY done. Sent from my SM-N900T using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. People keep saying it's my fault my band keeps breaking. It's my fault the nurse practitioner broke the port to begin with, just right months after I got it. It's my fault that when True Results repaired it they put in to much chord and wrapped around itself and broke off the band and apparently it is my fault the surgeon than had to move the port to my right side where it pulls and pushed all the time and keeps causing me to aspercream into my lungs and have multiple rounds of pnumonia and bronchitis for the last three years. I just was this thing out if me! I walk over 7000 steps a day (until my foot was crushed a year ago). I didn't start eating breads and pasta until after they told it needs to come out. I didn't drink carbonated drinks until we knew the whole system was already compromised because of the location of the port. But, yeah it us my fault that True Results screwed all of this up and then closed up and ran away. The two surgeons that worked on both disappeared as well. But, yeah it is my fault. Bull****. I realize a lot of people screw up their bands, but people need to know that True Results also screwed up the bands. I recently had a hip cray and the cray shows a port in my hip cavity! I have had to use an inhaler since January 2017 because of the aspiration. I wonder how many other are having problems because of True Results care. Anyone still around?

I have had yow repairs and been thru way to many nurse practioners and now have to choose a new surgeon. Because, it takes so long to prove you band is messed up I have spent the majority of the last three years with it not working properly. Then by the time it did work again, we overfilled and to go to ER. I'm finally at restriction and starting again. What's your journey been like? I just lap band, nothing else. I'm wishing they would have done more, but can't afford the surgery.

    Year Mark Approaching

    How are you now?

    Mentally struggleing

My band just had her three year birthday. I had her fixed for the second time in Oct. 2014. She is restricted, but man my willpower sux. I hit that three mark, stepped on the scale 10 pounds less than the birth of my band. Up until the the secound corrective surgery I had done great with my diet. I never drank pop, I limited myself to the amount of sugar I had daily. Then suddenly I felt like a failure at this. I still fill like a failure. To the point that now I am being the failure. The band is finally working correctly and I have given up after three years of trying hard to loose it with NO progress (keep in mind during the three years I have had a total of four months being in the sweet spot due to repeated band failure). I am so grateful for the surgeon to repair the band twice at no cost to me. Now, here I am screwing up and have no willpower left. I want it, but I don't "see" it happening for me at this point.

    Third time is a charm

I have now had two repairs on my port. I still thank that lap band can work for me. http://tinkrisegrind.blogspot.com/2014/10/three-weeks-post-op-take-three.html

Port repair number 2---am I nuts?

So...in August 2014 I found out I had an issue with my port again. Dr. Beinivedes in Richardson, Texas, admitted that he made a mistake with my flipped port repair in August 2013. In September 2014 he performed another surgery to try and fix the port, at their costs. This time he moved the port to the right side of stomach (instead of the left). He told my husband that he used to much tubing in the first repair. This surgery involves two, two inch cuts in my stomach to move and and replace the port. I am wondering......AM I THE ONLY ONE this has happened too. i am done with WLS if this one doesn't work. I am sure the next surgery will be the eventual removal. Until then..maybe I will loose weight. One week later, I have pain in the center of back that won't go away. My stomach is still bloated and I have a fever of 99.2 (my normal is 97.3-97.6). They agreed to pay for their mistake and I said, "Oh okay, no problem." But this time I am not recovering as well as I did the first two LB surgeries.

    removal or fix it again?

One year ago I had surgery because the port flipped. I found out Friday that my band has leaked out the fluid and has a kink in the tubing. I have two choices, pay to have it fixed or removed. I want to hear peoples thoughts on life after it was removed. (I still weigh what I did the day of surgery.)

    removal or fix it again?

Well.....I had it fixed. My port is now rerouted to the right side instead of the left. The surgeon had used to much tubing when he repaired a year ago. I am one week post op and I still don't feel well. My stomach is still bloated and it is hard to eat.
  13. pcosmommyof4

    removal or fix it again?

I found out that where the leak is, they replaced the chord and plug last summer. But the chord is not attached to the lapband properly. Again, not my doing.
  14. And another complication..line is kinked and fluid is not in my band. They have got me to restriction twice in two years and both times something happened to the band.

  15. pcosmommyof4

    Kink in my tubing......

Nine months post op by port flipped..it took four months to get them to fix it. It is exactly one year post op and now I have a kink and another leakage in my band. My wieght is exactly where I was two years ago.
  16. Annoying to finally have been eating the smaller amounts of food only to stop feeling restriction. Suggestions anyone?

    1. Jack

      Jack

It's helped me far more to finally be able to identify the difference between 'hungry' and 'not hungry' as I strive to train myself to eat in response to being 'hungry'.

I spend most of my life trying to 'get full' which rarely happened.

My notion is recognition of being 'not hungry' is what the essence of being restricted is about.

The urge to eat and then over eat is solved when I can follow the theory that 'satiety' and 'not hungry' is the goal of 'restriction' so I don't continue sport eating when not hungry.

I've come to enjoy smaller amounts of food.

    Two years and Two weeks

Some say fills aren't important. Other say you have to control what you eat...That is why you get the band! My weight is only 10 pounds less than it was when I had my lapband. I do think the sleeve or placation would have been an easier route, but the Band is what God gave me. I have not had true restriction until this week and most likely will have another in three more weeks. For the first time I am at 9.5ccs in my 14 cc band. I am loosing, just very slowly. In previous posts people have commented that I was to blame for not controlling my cravings. However, I am told the Lapband is supposed to help with the cravings. When I spoke with the person that gave me my fills, I have been told that my cravings are there because I am not at restriction and according to the x-ray that was finally done I have never had true restriction. What I lost in the beginning (75 pounds) was my will power and not the lapband (other than the first few weeks after surgery when I didn't feel like eating.) I keep having weird snags along the way with getting my band up to the true green zone. It is hard to find what you haven't experienced and I am scared of hitting the red zone. The biggest thing happened two years ago is that I stopped drinking pop. Don't get me wrong, I still have one about once a week. However I use to have about 6 a day. Today I am super excited to finally REALLY be starting this journey! Even better, I have been told to not do curl ups or other repetitive motions similar so my port doesn't flip again. Here is to a better me!

Why don't I feel my band anymore?

Ugghhh after a year of this I want to eat. I want to really eat. But eating is not helping the process. I am so irritated I am once again not loosing what they dr. says I should. I am about 30 pounds where I should be in weight loss. I am on feet most of the day at work with no energy left to work out at home. My goal is to loose 60 more pounds by June 1st. ( I know this seems like a lot, but I am behind by 30 pounds already). The only thing I can figure is forget the band and go back to protein shakes for a few weeks. That is going to be hard because I want to EAT! So this weekend I did give in and eat and gained 6 pounds, yes 6. It will take me a month to that 6 pounds. Over eating a chicken sandwich and a low-carb hamburger. My calories on Sunday was 2248. I have not ate that much since my surgery. I normally do not go over 1200. My knees are hurting all of the time again. This also hinders the workout. I just want to loose the weight, be healthier and be done with all of this. What is even worse is that my BP is higher than what it ever has been. I thought loosing weight was suppose to lower my BP. Instead it has made it higher. I wish I knew what I am doing wrong. I feel like the clinic is giving up on me as well. Okay, enough complaining. It is like I don't have a band. I am hungry all the time. My NP says they won't fill it anymore because they don't want me getting stuck again. I am still eating one to two cups of food per feel and the feeling full only last a couple of hours. I don't think my band has slipped because I am not in pain and I still have a tiny bit of restriction. What am I doing wrong? What happened to my successfulness and how they heck do I get it back? I weight the same I did back in November. I have not lost one damn pound and I eat less than 1200 cals with low sodium and high protein. It seems like once again my body will not work they way it is suppose to.

Why don't I feel my band anymore?

This must be about the time that by port flipped and leaked the fluid out of my band.
  20. I have heard about this thing called restriction. it is sort of nice to feel it. Two small chicken strips for lunch. Next thing I knew it was bedtime and I hadn't ate dinner.

  21. Foods that I miss: Smores, popcorn, corn. After two years I am sitting at 9.5 cc's in my 14 cc band.

    I finally understand!

I have had the same issues. I am never sure what they are thinking or not thinking. The reasons beteen filling and not filling has never made since to me. True Results in Pheonix screwed up my port, hid it from than refused to give me a fill. They never took a picture to see where my restriction was, the True Result has taken pictures and proved to me that Pheonix drs. never had me at any type of restriction. I have my band for nearly two years, I have only had true restriction for one month. I would ask to do berium swollow/x-ay to see your restriction.

    I finally understand!

I am in the same boat, but I was banded in June of 2012 and never used full restriction until a month ago. I only slime when I mess up. And I hate when I mess up.

    two year anniversery

We are coming upon our two year anniversary. I have just the lapband and have not had restriction for a over a year until a month ago. My port was revised in August after flipping and leaking 10 months after the initial surgery. I didn't go back to have it filled until April 2014 due to my job situation. I have not gained weight since the revision, but I am still sitting close to 300 pounds. Next I week I meet with the nutritionist to make a new diet plan since my old one is not working. How do you control the cravings when you can't mind over matter it?
