Ask you doctor for anti-nausea meds. If you can't take a pill they come in suppositories. -
Started Solid Foods And Not Eating So Healthy!!!
Grandma3 replied to tanieya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Until you get restriction it is a matter of will power. You have yo be able to say no to things that are bad for you, We have all geen thru this and you can to. Have you been to a support group? That might help. -
Congrats Lisa, this is a great site for support and information.

My doctor said "do not let anyone wait on you, get up yourself and move, you will feel much better faster". Although a little spoiling is great, you need to keep moving. The more you move, the better you will feel.

You will find a lot of support and information on this site. Good luck on your journey.

I was told no lifting over 20 lbs. But as fas as excercise if it hurts stop, otherwise your good.

I just want to add that you need to be careful who you tell, once it is out there you can not take it back. I made sure the people I told knew this was not to be repeated, this is my story to tell to those I choose. I was very lucky that I did not get any bad feed back only support. If you are staying in your own cabin and only sharing one meal a day you should be fine.

I would say 60 lbs in 6 months is wonderful! Congrats to you!

They wanted to schedule my surgery one week before we had a cruise booked. I told them it would have to be after the cruise. Glad I did. I was not in pain a week after surgery but would not want to be on liquids on a vacation. My doctor had us on two weeks liquids and two weeks mushies. It might be hard if you have not told your family, they will question what you eat. I have only told 4-5 people that are close to me, I get the not sharing thing. Good luck on your decision.

Having Trouble Laying Down!!
Grandma3 replied to bandedtobegood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctors orders where no lying down at least 30 minutes after eating. -
My doctor said fluid is fluid, just get enough. She also said try to stay away from caffeine. Since no soda and I don't drink coffee, I have really cut back but I still have a glass or two of ice tea everyday.

3 Steps Backwards, Now To Jump Forward!
Grandma3 replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband has strick orders no junk in this house. If it is not here I don't eat it. You are not too likely to hop in the car and run to the store because you want a donut. Look at the weight you have already lost, you want to keep moving in that direction. I hope you can do better after you get your fill. I am also getting my first fill this week. Good luck to us both. -
Sorry I can not help you on the Belgium surgery. Many medications can make you can weight. Have you and your doctor tried to figure out if it is one of your medications? My daughter gained 90 lbs on a medication and after she stopped taking it the weight slowly came back off. Just thought I would mention it.

Flying in August , can't wait to fit in the seat without a belt extension!

My surgeon required 2 weeks of diet that consisted of protein shakes for breakfast and lunch with a small protein packed dinner. Every sugeon has their own way of doing things, you will have to see what they tell you.

One more thing, there is an awesome book called Bandwagon by Jean McMillan. I am half way thru it and wish I had found it prior to my surgery, it is packed with wonderful information. You might want to check it out. Here is the link if you're interested. http://jean-onthebandwagon.blogspot.com/

Hi Barbee. The one thing I can say is do not get disappointed if it takes a while. I started this journey last year in August and was banded in April. It takes a while to jump thru the hoops for the insurance company but well worth it in the end. I called my insurance company and asked them exactly what the requirements were and then worked from there. Good luck to you

Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
Grandma3 replied to kwood803's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also live over an hour from the hospital, I did not stay over night and I did fine. I have been told to take a pillow with you to put on your stomach so the seat belt does not rub on you insicions, I took a pillow but didn't have to use it. -

This forum is awesome, you get a lot of support and learn a lot. I have only told a couple of people and I told them it is my choice to tell anyone else, if and when I want too. BUT I also believe you need other support as well. If you do not want to tell your family or a friend that is your choice, but you should find a support group to attend. -
What An Amazing Journey! -100Lbs :)
Grandma3 replied to pollywogg's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks for sharing your awesome story. You are and inspiration to us just starting out. -
Hi Gman, welcome to the world of the banded. I also had a hernia repair and had diaphragm pain for about 4 days, it hurt in my upper chest. I also stopped taking pain medication on day four. I could not lie on my left side for several days, I would go to bed lay on the right side and half way thru the night I would go to the recliner. It was just more comfortable. Within the week I was sleeping in my bed all night. If you are still in pain maybe you could just take the pain medication when you need it the most, say at night so you can sleep. Be sure you are taking something to help you go to the bathroom, those pain meds and the lack of good Fiber make it very painful to go. My doctor suggested MOM (Milk of Magnesia) and it works great. Good luck to you and hope you feel better soon.
