Great story marfar7

I was on liquids two weeks after surgery, then to mushies or soft foods. Scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, oatmeal, soups, broth, sugar free jello, refried beans, fish, cheese sticks and applesauce besides they things you mentioned. There are probably more but that is all I can think of now. Are you drinking protein shakes? Proteins helps you feel full longer. I still have a protein shake every morning on my drive to work. Good luck to you.

If you tell and it doesn't work out then you will wonder if telling them was the reason. I would wait until there is a real relationship and if it is strong, it will not matter. I definetly believe they should know if it is getting serious but I think I would wait.

YEAH for you, what an accomplishment. I can not wait to get there with you. I am sure it is the best feeling ever!

I don't know how many calories you are eating but I was doing 700-800 a day and not loosing. Everyone on here told me to kick it up 300 calories a day .......... crazy right? Well it worked, the first week again nothing, in fact I gained a lb but since then I have lost 2 lbs every week. -
People Tha Was Banding In 4/25/2012
Grandma3 replied to marielalora's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 4/25/2012. Everything is going great. I have had one fill, which was last week. May stats are on the bottom. I did get my butt up and started excercising. Not much has changed yet, my clothes are getting baggy. -
Fit in the rides at the amusement park. Walk a mile or more without getting tired or back hurting.

Yes, I had to pay 20%. My part of the hospital bill was $3038. I have not go the surgeons bill yet, but I checked the UHC site and it looks like I owe $500 for her and the assistant.

I took pain meds until the third day and was still uncomfortable for a couple more.

It really helps to look over the menu before you go if that is possible. Most chain restaurants have nutrition lists. If not get a grilled chicked or grilled fish and do not eat the bun if it is a sandwich. Chicken salad is always and option too.

They have it in most grocery stories. It is high in Protein. I never liked yogurt and now I eat Chobani's once a day.

I also have United Health Care but I think it depends on each seperate policy. The first time I called them they said I did not have bariatric surgery. I spoke to my HR dept beccause I had already done 5 months of my 6 month diet and they switch insurance companies. HR informed me that the person was wrong and we did have coverage. So to make sure I called UHC back again and that person told me we did have coverage and read me all the criteria. Also the girl at my surgeons office called them and got the criteria too. SO you just need to check with the insurance or have the doctors office check for you. If you don't get the answer you want then check again. Good luck making your decision I know it is a tough one, I almost changed my mind at the last minute. So glad I didn't.

Jessica, The band is not and easy fix, it still takes work and self control. You will have a pre-op diet and a post-op diet, it takes lots of willpower when you are back on solid food because you will need a few fills before you have restriction. Good luck on your decision. The band is a great tool but you still have to do the work.

That is not very much. My powder has 22 and I add it to skim milk which has 8 so I have 30 grams. I have one every morning and it gets my day started with a good amount of Protein. If you like premixed, the Premier Protein that is advertised on here is good and has 30 grams.

I lived on Diet Dr Pepper and Dt A&W Rootbeer. Quite honestly it wasn't that hard to stop. I think once you get your mind around the idea it is easier. It is just what needs to be done to make this a successful journey.

The nutritionalist at my doctors office has a field trip to the grocery store every couple months.
