Oh, also, the myralax does not have a taste to it. You can put it in any drink.
-
There is something called myralax that can be put in your water or drink. This will help with the poo problem. It makes the fluid you drink go to your intestines to help make you go. I wish someone would have told me this before. Please start this now or you will pay for it later, believe me! My doctor said it would not become necessary on a permanent basis. Start out taking each day and then start backing off until you get to maybe once a week. You can buy it at Walmart. Also, there is a tea called smooth moves. It works overnight. Only found it at my local grocery store. Couldn't find it at Walmart or target. Good luck!

This past weekend I did my first 5K run/walk. i I NEVER thought I would EVER get this body to jog. December 11 will mark my 9 month anniversary from surgery and I am down 82 pounds. The best part about the 5K was a group of friends cheering me on at the finish line.

How long does it usually take to receive items ordered from Baruatric Advantage? I ordered vitamins and calcium last week and they still haven't arrived. They have their money, now I want my stuff! Has anyone else had problems with them? How long does it normally take?

Week 5- So Depressing / Disgusting To Eat
monki replied to Looking Ahead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most drs will tell you not to stop taking anti-depressants cold turkey. You are suppose to stop taking them gradually. Not only is your body adjusting to the new sleeve, but your body is also adjusting to you not taking those meds. I suggest you make an appointment with you dr and discuss this with him. Your body is going thru a lot of changes right now. -
I am sorry to hear of your loss. I'm not sure where you are from but check with your doctors office or call around to the hospitals in your area to see if there are any support groups available for WLS patients. In my area there are three offered spread out over the month. If you can find one of those, I am sure someone would be happy to be your support buddy. Keeping you in my prayers an good luck on your journey

Still Suffering..and A Little Scared?!?! *bowel Issues*
monki replied to TMyers1471's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My gastric dr told me to take a laxative called Perdium. It is a vegetable laxative. It is easier on our bellies. I have also eaten prunes and they work too. -
My NUT advised to have at least 80 grams of protein a day, food and supplements included.

There is a spray vitamin available. It is called Vitamist. It is for WLS patients. Can get it at Vitamist.com. It is 4 squirts twice a day.

Confused About Clear Fluids...
monki replied to Dizzle's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
GNC sells clear protein. That is what I drank during my liquid stage. The unflavored unjury can be added to your liquids for extra protein. It worked really well in my soups and broth. Just make sure not to get food too hot or the protein will clump up. -
What To Bring To The Hospital?
monki replied to Nanny3Kids's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also would take a small pillow. When walking and riding in a car after surgery I held a pillow against my stomach incision. -
1 1/2 scoop vanilla unjury 1 Tbsp creamy Peanut Butter 1 Tbsp Hersey coco powder 8 oz. unsweetened almond milk 4 ice cubes Place in blender and mix.

Anyone Able To Eat More Than 4 Oz?
monki replied to pinkiguana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I have more liquid type foods, I seem to be able to eat more that when I eat more solid type foods. My understanding is that our stomachs are swollen for the first several weeks. Around week 4 or 5 our bellies are about where they will be. One thing I was told not to do is to pick up over 20 or strain for at least 6 weeks. Both of these things will help to stretch our stomachs. Don't be to alarmed at eating more than you have been. Just make sure you listen to your triggers of fullness and continue to eat slow. -

The Unjury Unflavored Is Disgusting
monki replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did use the unflavored unjury when mostly on mushies. Definately don't put it in something real hot. I warmed my soup in the microwave and didn't get it real hot. It worked great for me like that. I now drink the chocolate spender Unjury with unsweetened soy almond milk. I really like it. I ordered some vanilla the other day. I want to add fruits to it to try, for a change. I do still add the unflavored to my yogurt, puddings and cream cheeses. -
We pray you don't have any complications. He is probably jealous. I have had several people tell me that their spouse was against their surgeries at first because they were afraid they would be left (divorced) once all the weight was gone. He probably just needs reassurance from you that you love him. See if you can talk to him about that. After months of my hubby grumbling, I told him i respected his feelings but this was something I was doing for me and my health. And that I loved him no matter what my size. Maybe you should start, if not already doing it, a date night. Go play mini golf, go to an arcade, do something fun. And continue your date nights after you recover from ur surgery. But mainly, reassure him of your love. I'll be praying for you! Where will you be having your surgery? Let us know when.

I am from Zachary but had my VSG on April 11 in Baton Rouge at Oschner. My birthday present to me. Insurance required for a six month wait and all sorts of test but they finally approved. So glad I did it. My husband adimately discouraged me from having the surgery but told me it was my dicission and he would support it. He has been great since. He has even lost a few pounds and been able to cut back on his diabetic meds. I went to my dietician yesterday and she said I was doing great. Feels good to have someone confirm your success. Haven't been back to surgical dr. Have appointment May 29. Hope he is happy with my progress. Starting weight 278, surgery weight 265 and today 242. Glad I found this whole forum. It has answered a lot of questions for me.

You may be trying to do too much too soon. Start out slow. Do some walking normal walking. Make sure you are getting in enough fluids. My dr told me not to get too involved on working out for at least 6 weeks because my body is trying to adjust to everything. I hope the nausea will ease up for you.

I know how you feel. I am 4 weeks post op and I went they the same thing after my surgery I think for me it was realizing everything had changed. I mentally knew it would change but when it actually hit me that it had changed, I just had feelings of sadness. It does get better. Going back to work may help you feel some better. Sitting around the house with all kinds of time to think made me depressed. When I went back to work I was so busy I didn't have time on my hands like I did when I was home. Just be sure not to overdo it. And try to keep your eating and drinking schedule as close to normal as possible. Good luck with work. We may be at different stages in our journey but we are all in the journey together.

Incision Sites And Bandages
monki replied to kansasgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of my incisions was/is a little more sore than others. I have one almost directly above my belly button. I think it is taking longer to heal because of my shirt rubbing against it. I wasn't given bandages. They used the skin glue on my incisions. But I had an allergic reaction to the glue. Keep an eye on your incisions. If they continue ro look red, start draining and feel warmer than usual, call your dr. You may have an infection. -
I am having trouble with vitamins also. I had a friend tell me about a spray vitamin. It is from vitamist.com. It is for bariatric patients. If I can make it thru the vitamins I have, I believe I will be giving it a try. She loves it and her dr is the one that suggested it.

My NUT advised not drinking alcohol for a t least 6 mths. She also said if I was determined to drink, to drink what I call "hard liquor" mixed in something non carbonated. Remember, your tolerance level will have changed deamaticlly also. If you do decide to drink, be extremely careful.
