  1. It's going to be a long few weeks for all of us! I know that I love a glass of wine occasionally. I say to myself, which do I want, one cookie//candy/pick your poison, or a glass of wine. To be honest, I find that once I am out of the situation I end up not having the wine even but it gives me something else to focus on at the time. Good luck, it is not going to be easy! I also am planning next summer- so I can focus on something positive.

    Non-Fill Today- I'm So Hungry!

Just wanted to update. Thanks for all the support! Yesterday was much better, no hunger and lots of gym time made for a much happier me!
  3. Hi All, I need some support! I Had surgery in August, and have done relly well. Then Storm Sandy hit and life went haywire for awhile, and I lost even more weight due to not eating much and working cleaning up for 3 weeks without stopping. So during that period of time the weight poured off. In the last 10 days as life has settled down alittle I have been more hungry than ever. I was really looking forward to my next fill, 4 weeks after it was due. Well, I saw my doctor today and he was so thrilled at my loss that he only gave me a tiny fill, not hearing me say how hungry I've been. Now I'm starving, still only on liquids because small as it was it was still a fill, and not sure how to proceed. If I'm this hungry now what will it be like going forward. The doctor doesn't want to see me for 6 weeks. I'm tempted to call the arpn who I had been seeing- I think she is a better listener, but does that put her in a spot between me and the doc? I don't know. Any thoughts. By the way, I've averaged 2 pounds a week, but that was including the crazy 3 week weight loss and is not indicitive of the last couple of weeks at all, where my weight goes up and down. Thanks!!

    Struggling After 1St Year

I'm new to this, only banded this August, but what if you did a 'pre-surgery' diet again? Maybe if you're that 'strict' for a few days, with no options, it might help you. Or call the drs office and be really forceful about wanting a small fill? Like I said I'm just guessing, but maybe it will help. I think we (I know I do) fear that exact thing. And isn't the band meant to help the most on the 'keeping it off' phase? Thinking of you and keep us in touch with how you are doing.

    Christmas Is Coming

I have a glass of white wine probably about 4 days a week. I include it in my calories.

    Non-Fill Today- I'm So Hungry!

Probably didn't help that I had fasting bloodwork done this morning for a physical (like I haven't been checked out enough!) but I've reacted so strongly post surgery and post fill (having to remind myself to eat) that I didn't even think about it. I've been lucky, I know that. I wasn't hungry at all till about 3 weeks ago. I've warned my family to stay away tonight and let me knit. Hopefully keeping my hands busy will help. If I don't feel better by the end of the week I'll call. It feels like good old fashion dieting right now, I was hoping that part would be easier long term. We'll see. I'm sure my emotional state over the Sandy devestation doesn't help. Thank you everyone who replied, just knowing someone is there makes it easier.

Just Had To Share Strange Nsv

I'm a Jersey shore girl, moved to CT, but with all my family down on the shore still. I kept thinking, who needed lap band- I don't think I ate more than a nibble since the Thursday before! And wasn't hungry! Not a diet I'd recommend for anyone- but I was able to get so much done. I'm sure some of it was my totally change in outook towards food, but i now understand when people say they are too busy, stressed, or forgot to eat. Now to try to get back to eating (health) as we settle in for the long haul. Hope you made out ok. Our houses have a lot of water damage and other to be expected issues, but in a town that lost 25% of the homes that is luck! No power, gas, or sewers for up to 6-8 months- but again, not feeling the need to eat makes it easier. Hugs to anyone else going through this, we will all survive!

How To Deal With Sore Feet ?

How old are your shoes? They absolutely don't last forever. My favorite work shoes have been relegated to once a week because my heels were feeling bruised by the end of the week. New shoes made the difference. Hope you feel better fast, sore feet are awful!

    Over Eating ?

go4itnow, I think you should post that as a new question. That way more people could respond and learn from it. Me included! Eating out is something I haven't had to deal with yet.
  10. 199.8! It may only be by 0.2 but it happened! Next goal is the move from obese to overweight! Amazing how it changes your entire outlook. I'm wearing cute little shoes to work today instead of sensible ones, and feeling sassy!
  11. Deevee, I wouldn't be at all concerned. As far as I know I didn't have anything in my band at the time of surgery but I don't think it would have mattered. I felt full all the time for the first 3-4 weeks (probably from inflamation). Even had to remind myself to eat. I am now 2 months out and just had my 2nd fill last week (first was 2 weeks earlier) and to be honest I am not aware of any change at all! The APRN told me most people in their practice aren't even aware of fills till the 3rd or 4th one. Best of luck with your journey!

    No Coffee !!! Or Gum

Not sure what to say. If I was told no gum I blocked it out of my mind- I have gum in my mouth for hours each day. I was a gum swallower before, now I am so terrified about what could happen that I have had no issues remembering to throw it out. I buy my gum at costco, for goodness sake! It is one on my 'pleasures', that and gummy vits!
  13. I don't know if it's just me, but everything tastes so wonderful. I don't know if it is not drinking soda, not eating processed foods, or what but food tastes unbelievable! Is it just me? I was banded 8/13 of this year. Foods I just ate before have turned in something extraordinary. I wouldn't dream of putting cocktail sauce on shrimp- the shrimp flavor explodes in my mouth. Salad, no dressing, the tastes are so wonderful! Is this just me? What a wonderful, unexpected bonus! I feel like the most ordinary foods have unbelievable flavor now. What a joy!

Couch To 5K On A Treadmill?

Hi all you runners out there. I want to start running again but in the past (a longggg time ago) when I ran it was always on the open road. I built up slowly till I was running long distances. Now I'm ready to start again but I'm not sure where/how to start. If it didn't get dark so early now I'd start running outside again, but by the time I can get out light becomes a factor. That leaves the gym, which I go to regularly. I'd like to try the couch to 5K program but can't figure out how easy it would be to always be changing my running speed on a treadmill. Has anyone done it that way? How did it work? Any tips or ideas? Thanks!

    Need A Pick Me Up...

I can't stand that the fear of failing is always the elephant in MY room, I'm sorry it is in your room too! I know that sometimes when things slow up for me (and I am a newby at this) I look back and realize I'm eating too little! I also know that even if I stall the weight will come off eventually. If it didn't people wouldn't starve to death Dang, look at Gandhi! (I also look for some humor). Seriously thought, it is a marathon not a sprint! Keep tracking, change up your exercise, and look for the little wins, I bet they are there!

    Vent!!

I feel your pain. I went through that same exact thing last weekend only it was my father-in-law, who is a retired doc! Then my own father said that maybe in another 40 pounds he might be able to tell I'd lost weight! Talk about a double wammy! I just chalked it up to ignorance. I'll be the one smiling- for the REST OF MY LIFE! I did this for me, not them. I find that as the weight goes away, my confidence goes up. Comments that would have floored me in the past just roll off my shoulders now. Hope you can put the hurtful comments behind you and enjoy your new life as you move forward!

    Terrified!

Hi, I was banded this August, never vomited, but did ask for a scopalomin (sp) patch pre-surgery. My band was the best choice for me. I am rather anal about following rules and haven't had an issue yet. I know what you mean about bad outcomes on the internet but there will always be issues with anything. Not for nothing, but the issues with staying heavy are huge. I'm already off my bp meds and am only on cholesterol medication till I have a blood test. If it helps, look at the comments on your favorite product at Amazon.com. Even the best item has people who gave poor reviews. Surgery is serious and you should question it, but also keep a clear head about it. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
  20. I guess I should have stated my question better. Can too much water be an issue in reguard to lap band. I know you shouldn't over fill your stomach with food, how about fluids? Can I drink my water too fast and create a problem?

    Hospital Stay

Not much I slept almost the entire time, and once I didn't it was time to go home. They provided toiletrles, and a second gown to use as a bathrode. Chapstick and a small booboo pillow for the ride home is right on the money but I'd say that's it. I took my kindle, what a joke. Oh, cell phone for letting people know you are fine. Good luck, and remember to let your body rest afterwards.

    At Or Near Goal Question

I lost 100+ pounds about 15 years ago. I fell in love with running, and with a distance of 5 miles around our 'block' that is what I did everyday no matter what. Well, except when I was training for marthons. I was down to 117, and in tiny clothes. I stopped having my period, developed all kinds of health issues, allergies, and finally fractured my foot. I look back and see pictures of someone happy... but way too thin. When I had to stop running because of my foot the weight started back on. Fast forward to now. My lb doc told me his goal for me is 145! A far cry from 117, but when we talked we agreed on 135. I definately had an eating disorder back then and will have to guard against it as I get down there. You sound kind of like me. I think that if I had a more realistic goal I could have maintained it, but the only way I could have stayed at 117 was to run it off. While fun it was not good, or healthy. I remember thinking (honestly) that I would rather die than gain my weight back, seriously. Scary place. I think if I, or my family, see that happening to me again I will force myself to see someone who specialises in anorexia, because, honestly, that is where I was. I do know that even now I see my body (at times) as bigger now than it was almost 40 pounds heavier. We all are battling our own food/weight issues or we wouldn't be on this journey. Hopefully I've grown a little wiser with age. Maybe my story will provide you with some additional insight.

    How Do People Do This!?

Wow! I alway thought you "shouldn't" drink water 30 and 30, because you would wash the food through too fast, not that you "couldn't" drink! I learn something new everyday here!
  24. How many calories are most people on here eating in an average day? I'm still new (2 months banded) and trying to figure out all the numbers.
  25. farmgirl04

    Calories?

Okay, thanks, I'm on target. Just trying to make sure. Thanks!
