Scared After Pre Op Appointment
cosmogirl70 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone else get scared to death after they had their pre op appointment? I had mine today and had a panic attack on the way home. I have been going through this process over 6 months now but I got really scared after my doctor had me sign all those papers about the complications. I knew what they were but having him read them to me and sign my name on the bottom made it really scary. I didn't realize severe depression can be a complication and acid reflux will be something I will have to live with. Also didn't realize 1 in 1,000 people die from this surgery! I am thinking of canceling my surgery. Anyone else feel this way before surgery? -

cosmogirl70 replied to cosmogirl70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
THANK YOU everyone for your kind words! It means the world to me! It puts my mind at ease to know that what I am going through is normal. I sat down with my husband and had a long talk. I feel better about going through with the surgery but it is going to be a long week ahead. My surgery is scheduled for next week Wed. The 24th. -
Congrats on your surgery! Hope you start feeling more energy soon. Keep us posted on your recovery. I am having my surgery on the 24th with Dr Kemmerling.

Less than 2 weeks! I started this journey back in March and now I finally got insurance approval! I am so excited and nervous! I am suppose to start my pre op liquid diet on the 17th but its my birthday that day so the nurse said it would be fine to start on the 18th. Looks like I am going to be having a really good birthday dinner!!

Got the phone call today that my insurance approved my surgery! Woo Hoo! It has been a long 6 months (had to do a 6 month supervised diet before insurance would approve). I find out tomorrow what my surgery date is but it looks like it will be before the end of the month. So excited....and nervous!!!

Biotin For Hair Loss
cosmogirl70 replied to blackmagikcrush's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a hairstylist and I would recommend taking the biotin and also getting yourself some shampoo for thinning hair. Nioxin is a brand that we sell in our salon and is used to promote hair growth. It works awesome! I am hoping to have surgery in Oct. and have already started with the biotin and Nioxin shampoo. If you do lose hair due to surgery it should come back. I have quite a few clients that have gone through this and after a few months their hair starts coming back and is much healthier. Good luck! -

I am also seeing Dr Kemmerling and going through my 6 month insurance requirement. I am hoping to have surgery in October. Best of luck to you!

cosmogirl70 replied to bigjoe102's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Joe for sharing your experience. This is exactly what I needed to hear. I am less than 2 months away from insurance approval. I have days I am so excited to get the surgery and days I am scared to death and wonder if this is really the best thing for me. Reading posts like yours help me feel like I am making the right decision by having the surgery. Thank you so much for sharing and congratulations on your new life! -

Initial Dr. Visit Questions
cosmogirl70 replied to gabby899's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Gabby, I went for my first visit in March. I remember filling out all those forms and feeling the same way you do. My advice is to fill them out as best you can. Nobody can remember every diet and the dates. Especially if your like me and have tried diet after diet. I am currently on my 4th month of my 6 month insurance requirement before surgery. 6 months seemed like forever but I have learned so much information the past 4 months that will benefit me after surgery. I too have been overweight since I was pregnant with my son who is now 15. I had gained 80 pounds and lost and regained ever since. Good luck with your appointment! You are making the first step to a new you! -
Testing Out Different Protein Drinks Before Surgery
cosmogirl70 replied to Jlewis229's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not had surgery yet but I too was planning on trying out some protein drinks prior to surgery. My doctor recommended that I don't buy too much of any now because my taste buds will change after surgery. Has anyone else been told that? -
Help, Is Vsg The Right Thing For Me?
cosmogirl70 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 3 more months to wait of my 6 month required for insurance before they will approve surgery. I keep going from excited and wishing it was done and over with, to scared to death and asking myself if this is the right thing for me. I am so scared that something will go wrong. I am so worried about a leak. I am not the best at good luck. In fact people who know me usually say that if something bad is going to happen it will happen to me. My doctor has said he had one leak out of 150 surgeries. He told me that having a leak is a painful and long recovery. I just don't know what to do! Sent from my iPad using VST -

Thanks everyone so much for your comments and support. I am trying to keep my attitude positive about the surgery and pray that it all turns out well for me. It's really nice to be able to talk to others on here that have been in the same situation. God bless you all! -
