  1. When I weighed this morning it hit me that I only have 1 (ONE) more pound to lose until I hit my 100lb mark! I broke down in tears!! It has been an amazing journey so far...and I am almost to the "tipping point" (6 more pounds) to having less to lose than I have already lost! I am just about half way there! in 7 1/2 months! So I am shooting for my goal by my birthday in Oct....that's 7 more months.... I am going to try anyway! If you are just starting out....I hope your journey is a smooth and wonderful as mine has been so far!!
  2. Happy to have you here with us. Stay the course, hang in there and things will be fine. Your life will change so much after surgery, your taste, your abilities and most of all the way you feel. It is truly an amazing journey that i would not trade for ANYTHING! Wishing you all the best!

    Help with Aftercare

my daughter stayed with me and it was a help to have her for the first day or two. But I am not used to someone "helping" me....so it was hard for me to let her do things for me. You will need to rest, walk and sip a lot those first few days and it is good to have someone there in case you need them. After the 3rd day I was up and on my own again and didnt need any assistance. Hope all goes well for you and you are back home and recovering quickly! But do let someone care for you the first few days, dont be too brave!!

    Gallstone anyone?

about 5 years ago I lost 80 lbs really fast on some medication my dr gave me.....and sure enough I had to have my gallbladder out within a month of losing it! So I am HAPPY i had that experience then, and not after my RNY. Hope you are doing well and recovering!

Love the NEW YOU. . . I do!

    Great job, you look wonderful!
  7. I was lucky enough not to have any issues after surgery....or in the 8 months since. But I do know that I have to work hard at losing the weight, it wasnt meant to be a quick fix. Everyone is different, and everyones story is different. It's not easy for any of us, but the research I did before hand really paid off by helping me cope, understand and follow my dr's plan, and make the changes in needed to for success. I would NOT trade it for anything!! I just wish I had surgery 20 years ago!!

    6 months!

but think of this... in those (quick) six months you will be going through a process to get ready for a life changing event. Read, learn all you can about your body, start exercising and get in to a routine now...it will make it easier for after surgery. Change your eating habits best you can, talk to people on here and get all the motivation.... there are some VERY successful people on this site and they know a LOT of good tips, ideas and really want to help. The six months will go by fast, the spring is here more activites to be involved with all summer too... hang in there... this time is very important to your success! Good Luck!

    Feeling scared... Need support

Just try to relax. Take a nice long hot bath tonight and just let your mind rest. Surgery is scary, but it will be over soon and you'll be on your way to a healthy happier you! I promise the after is so worth the process! Just remember to try to walk as much as you can as soon as you can...for both the soreness and gas! Best of luck to you, I look forward to watching your progress!!
  12. I was sitting with my legs crossed on my mom's couch Sunday...and she said "Look how your ankle bones are sticking out!" I said "What? I have ankle bones?" I havent seen bones in so long I really didnt notice! Nice to have people point them out!! (Oh, and the fact i could actually cross my legs like a "lady" was pretty awesome too!!)

    ONE more pound

I MADE IT!!! 100 pounds of fat are GONE FOREVER!! I cannot tell you how free I feel!!! Knowing this is the ONLY way I could have EVER lost that 100lbs, how much better I feel about myself, how much better I feel moving around (I can actually not stop going some days!!) and how different my perspective on life and being healthy and understanding my addiction to food, what it did to me and how I can cope with my emotional issues with other avenues now. I am SO happy!! Thanks for cheering me on!

    New Year, New Beginnings

I had surgery Aug 13th...my birthday is Oct 6th so I considered it my "start over" year. I can tell you that its the best gift I could have given myself. My weight is coming off, my energy is soaring and life is good! i had no complications and have adjusted to eating just about what I want (with in the program limits, havent tested outside that....and wont...I was additcted to food and am well aware that I could "relapse" if not careful) Wouldn't trade that "gift" for anything! I wish you all the best, may you have an easy recovery and use your "gift" wisely!! You will LOVE how you feel on your next birthday!!

    Cross addictions

Yes, the YMCA! I love that place... I get my workout on....and boy am I energized and ready to go!! and it feels like a mini-vacation when I get to stop by the steam room on Saturday mornings (with no makeup on so I can "detox") and the hot tub!! Never thought I'd be addicted to the GYM!

    8 months post op today!

I know what you mean. Everytime I think of how close I came to 400lbs it makes me want to cry! I look at things I just could not physically do because of it, how slow and so had NO energy. Couldnt wait to get home everyday and lay down. Now it makes me want to cry to think how far I have been able to get away from it..93 lbs and counting!! It is so overwhelming some days to me as well.... can't help but shed tears of joy! I never thought I'd have days I couldnt wait to get to the gym and exercies, and try to find ways to burn up the energy I have! Somedays I just dont know what to do with it all!!!
