    1 Year Surgiversary!

Great job!! I wish i had pushed myself harder in the beginning too... but I have started pushing really hard and hoping to make my goal by my 1 year! I try to leave everything I got at the gym everyday.

My day is done...... But it's only 4:08

sounds like some of my days.... I have so much energy its hard to stop!! I am usually done by about 7pm...and dont know what to do with myself! I walk at 530am, work from 8a-4p then go to the gym for an hour and home to cook, wash clothes, clean up and a couple days a week cut/weed the yard! I sleep well, feel great and seem to have more energy than I have ever had!!

    Hands

Yes, I wore a size 12 ring before surgery...now wear a size 8 1/5... had to have my wedding ring resized twice! feels funny to have smaller hands! And also my feet are not as wide...I can wear regular shoes!! not W or WW.

    Mother in law

I just sat down with her and told her about my struggles with my weight my whole life, and that I had discovered this tool that would help me be healthy so her son and I could live a long happy healthy life together. That my intentions were to be an example for both him (who had not the most healthy habits since leaving the Army, he had gained a considerable amouth of weight before I met him) and my 16 year old daughter (who struggles with her weight because I have not been the example I needed to be for her) and that I loved her son very much and was confident that he and I would be able to maintain our very happy loving relationship no matter what size either of us were. And that with the new healthy lifestyle changes and weight lost we would be able to participate in the rasing of our children (he has 2 from previous marriages, 15 yo son and 4 year old daughter in addition to my 16 year old daughter who lives with us) for many years without having to be on medications, disability due to health issues or depend on her and my father in law to raise their grandchildren because we couldnt. She listened, she told me she was sorry for making such an assumption and said she felt I was doing the right thing! Totally changed her attitude towards me and the surgery! But I went about it very easy....not like I wanted to...I first wanted to rip her head off...LOL... but I do not want a bad relationship with my inlaws. Now we are all good...and my hubby's lost about 65 lbs and they tell him how great he looks!!

    So ashamed!

I did the same thing! about a month before my surgery I thought I'd die from all the food I wanted "just one last time".... but after about a week I just lost all interest in the food, drinks and goodies....thank goodness! Truth is you are ready, or you wouldnt be able to see that you want this change. I kept telling myself that I was ready, I'd picture all of the things I would be able to do after surgery...and I was able to let go of the food that had kept me captive all of my life. I honestly could not remember a time that I fit in a booth comfortably, a theater seat, concert seat.... or wore a seatbelt! But when I reached for food I thought I wanted...I'd picture what I really wanted and it helped. Now 9 months out I can tell you this truly is a life saving/life changing tool ! it's worth giving up the food for!! I can buckle a seatbelt with no problems, my husband and I go to the movies a lot now....and I dont have to worry about fitting in the seat! and i have so much energy to do things! So take a deep breath... focus on the post op success you'll have and get ready... you will NOT FAIL this time!

    Mother in law

I had a simular experience with my mother in law. I am my husbands 3rd wife (LONG story) but the first 2 cheated and left him (the 2nd one cheated and divorced him while he was in Iraq in the Army) but she told him once I lost weight I'd leave him too or cheat on him...that he'd better keep me like I was! Needless to say she and I had a "Come to Jesus" meeting about all that chatter!! He and I have only been married 3 1/2 years...but honey we have been through HELL with the baby mama's for his two kids...and still have issues with other things dealing from his Army days (he's out processing now) if I didn't leave because of all that "stuff"....losing weight wont cause me to leave either! He's dieting and exercising along with me and losing weight too! I love my husband and my mother in law just needed me to explain that too her in VERY clear language. Now she's very supportive of BOTH of us living a healthier life style!

    What to eat before/after exercise

Way to go with the marathons! i wanna get in to that as well. I usually hit the gym after work so I am hydrated and I have a couple of cubes of low fat cheese on my way there for protein.

Real Food - Is it worth the effort?

Some days I have to force a "meal'... but I do prepare meals and then use small portion containers to freeze them. That way I always have something I know I can eat without a lot of fuss. Faliure to plan is planning to fail!

  13. Oh my! I am also 9 months out...but thank God NOT pregnant! I was "fixed" about a year before my WLS....so no worries there. Whew, I can NOT imagine being pregnant after going through surgery. I am sure this will be a fantastic blessing for you and your family! Best of luck to you!! May you and your baby be healthy !

    Where was your IV ?

I was dehydrated from the preop cleaning out...so it took many sticks until the finally got my right hand just below my index finger. They even tried with ultrasound to get in a vein...no luck. Wasn't painful, just was afaid they wouldn't get to do my surgery because I was dehydrated so bad. Best of luck to you!! Just breathe through it and you'll be fine!

    Feeling Boney !

Last night my daughter was rubbing my back...and she said "Mom, you have shoulder bones back here!" I laughed and said "who knew!".... Then she proceeded to find my spine too! Over the weekend we went swimming and she noticed that my ankle bones "stick out" now.... It's pretty cool! And I noticed in the mirror that my collar bones are showing too! Wow, how wonderful it is to see/feel all of these bones finally! I havent thought of the pillow for the knees...but it's a good idea!

What Exercise Did You Do Today?

I feel your pain! But I have got to say it SO good to have the energy to do all of my yard work!! Mowing with a push mower, weeding and raking... I would have NEVER been able to do any of that last year!! It's tough work, but I am thankful for it! (burns some calories too!!)

What Exercise Did You Do Today?

I know what you mean! I have been dying to swim outdoors!! ( Been swimming in the indoor pool at the gym...NOT the same!!) I got to swim outdoors yesterday, made me feel fantastic!

    Warning...

Thank you for saying this! I read a lot of things here too that really need to be discussed with the Doctor before they make a change or do anything different. After reading so much it is easy to see that we all have different plans. And there is a reason our dr's have us on that plan.

    Stomach Noises!

ME TOO! The family thinks it funny and sometimes ask me to drink or eat so they can hear it! LOL Jenn...just wanted to tell you that you look fantastic...almost didnt recognize the photo! Keep up the great work!
  25. So I am a little over 6 months out.... lost almost 90lbs... feeling fantastic. However i just dont know what to do with all the energy I have! I wake up between 430am and 5am, rested ready to get up and start the day ( I go to bed about 9:30pm) EVERYDAY! I work full time, but have recently taken on a second job, I get my gym time in, walk my neighborhood as well everyday.... and now it's getting a little springish I am starting to do outside (yard) work too. But I find myself unable to just sit down!!! I am always popping up from my seat and thinking of little things to do! I think its starting to drive my husband nuts... last night he said "Can you just SIT DOWN a few minutes and NOT MOVE?".. I laughed and sat down....for about 15 minutes.... then I was up cutting coupons and planning my grocery trip for the week! I have never felt so energetic!! Anybody else have this problem???
