how do you deal with emotions without food?
Anniesmom12 replied to shawna29's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks DL... you are always so well "spoken".... I appreciate your wisdom. You are right...post op is a world of difference but a wonderful difference. I still have days I feel like I could sit down and eat an entire cheesecake....but reality sets in and I know 1) It doesnt fit in my "plan" 2) its empty nutrition 3) my pouch would NOT be happy!! 4) I truly dont need food to solve my problems or be happy. So many times people say "Just walk or exercise instead, it makes it better"....I hated hearing that.. but I find it is so true at least for me! So hang in there Shawna29.... it will get better! -
You go girl!! I cant do that long (actually I can go about 15 minutes...then I am done!) but I can walk on the treadmill for an hour with no problems! I am working on the elliptical getting more time...just will take me a while! Thanks for the inspiration!!

I know what you mean, I dont have chronic pain...but a year ago I would have NEVER thought I'd love the gym and would NEVER have thought I would exercise for 45 minutes....now moving to an hour without having a heart attack!! Congrats!! Keep going!

we all hit stalls.. its normal. I try to get at least 80-100 gms of protein (foods, bars and shakes), 64oz of water (plus other liquids) and I increased my cardio workout from 30 -45 min now at an hour. Switch up what your eating protein wise, switch up your exercise routine. Hope this helps you!

I went for my 9 month post op visit yesterday.....everything checks out fine I've lost 102 lbs, blood levels are good. No nausea, vomitting or issues with the pouch. I am feeling fantastic, loads of energy, loving the new me!! and the new lifestyle of daily gym visits, not being a slave to the food around me. It's nice to finally have some normal habits like I have always seen healthier people have. I want to make my goal by Oct 6th (my 45th birthday)....but with the stall I've been in since April not sure I'll make it. But I am dang sure gonna give it a go. I have finally started moving down again, lost inches...but the weight wasnt moving. I changed up my exercise routine and eating a little different and now it's going down again! My family has been so supportive, friends have "donated" clothing and I am happier than I have been in years! I sincerely hope those who are just starting out or just had surgery hang in there!! It is well worth the little pain for this journey! It's amazing! I wish you all as easy of a time as I have had so far!

Best of luck on surgery this week. You will do fine... let us know how it goes!! I will say a special prayer for you and the dr! -
I will be 7 months post op on the 13th... just wanted to say that things are going great. I have tons of energy! I have fallen in love with going to my local YMCA and working out. I've lost 90 lbsand several clothes sizes. Along the way I've lost a few friends....cause I am not the "fat friend" anymore. But I have gained experience and new friends who are on the same path I am. This surgery has been a lifesaver not only for my but for my family too! My husband has lost 50lbs, my 16 year old has lost about 25 lbs. And we all eat healthier than we ever have. I started this journey for the benefit of the hubby and daughter mainly, because If Mom's not fit....neither are they! But I have to say that during the preop journey and now the postop journey I have gained confidence back, I think more clearly about healthy choices and how to move more. And am generally in a much better frame of mind and body! As an added bonus the Dr. who did my surgery also goes to the same YMCA I do.... (We both work for the same hospital system....and membership is a perk for us!) so seeing him there motivates me to work hard and show him just how much appreciate him doing my surgery...and I dont want to waste a day not using my "tool" to the very best I can. If you havent had surgery and are reading this... BEST OF LUCK to you... DO IT! The surgery isnt an "easy" way out...it is by far the hard way. The pain afterwards will fade...and a new life will take it's place quickly. You'll see things in a whole new light!! If you have had surgery already and are reading this.... lets keep going!! Thank you for sharing your story with me, I keep reading and making notes of things others go through and try to do or avoid those things. Your story inspires me to continue on this journey till I reach my goal!

I went for a massage today, first one since 2 weeks before surgery last August.... and i had PLENTY of room on the table!!! Last time I was almost hanging off the table on each side!! It felt amazing to lay there, arms by my side comfortable and not have to worry about falling off!! to be honest the reason i havent had one since before surgery....cause I was totally embarassed that the guy doing it knew i was too heavy for the table!! Not any more!! I'll have to use this as a treat again when I get my next 50 lbs off!! (this was my 100lb treat, just got the nerve up to go!)

Anniesmom12 replied to Anniesmom12's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yes, it helps with back pain. I dont have any back issues, my husband has back problems and has massages routinely to help ease the pain. He said it helps him way more than medications do. Try it, I know you'll love it! -
hang in there.... press on. This tool will change your life in such a positive way they will be sorry they havent supported you...but YOU need to do it for YOU and your health! We're here to support you!
