    I'm new! :)

Welcome! And I pray for you that this will resolve your health issues. I admire you for taking this opportunity so young. May God bless you with great success! It's not an easy way out, but a neccessary way for some of us.

    Not sure what to do?

Never had the band, but had RNY almost a year ago... wouldnt change a thing! I was fearful of the "dumping" or vomitting... and of the actual surgery. But I had a great surgeon and all went fantastic. The fear of dumping works in my favor because I stay away from what I know may cause it (sweets and the likes) and I have only had 1 episode of vomitting...cause I didnt chew well enough! You can't let the fear of the "unknown" ruin your chance of being healthy. The what if's will talk you out of anything if you let it!

    Question for all Post Ops

I buy a LOT less junk foods...more high quality healthier foods. I buy mostly at farmers markets or from the farm. It's really evened out or cost less for the healthier foods because I dont have to buy medications anymore, It's been worth the investment in my health.
  4. My family dr did me the same way about a sinus infection! She said "Oh, its just the "slimes" you get after RNY...not sinus drainage"... I was like all kinds of crazy on her! I had a true sinus drainage...and it was infected!! She finally agreed once I went off on her about the whole RNY surgery and how I have had prior sinus infections and that I know my body.... round of Zpack and I was all set! Even my crazy sister, who had RNY 2 1/2 years ago says things sometimes if I say I have a headache...she'll so "Oh, you're dehydrated because of the RNY"... No, I have a headache...plain and simple... tylenol and rest and I am good. I drink PLENTY of fluids and know when I am dehydrated!

    Two weeks post op today!

you go girl!! So proud for you!!! Hang in there.... it gets better!!
  7. I wish you all the best. I am in the Upstate of SC, so not close to you. But I had my surgery exactly one year ago on August 13, 2013.... and I can tell you that it is SO worth it. I am happy for you and your husband, hope all goes well!!
  8. Hang in there Mary! I am in upstate SC and I know between the rain and the heat its difficult. I have been fighting my own demons from the unhealthy eating habits lately myself.....too much time indoors and it's working on my last nerve! I will say a prayer for you! Keep reaching for the healthy stuff...and try to read or distract yourself in some other non-food way. (It's easier said than done, I know!)
  9. I have always just been an eater! i ate when I was bored, happy, sad, anxious.... all the time! I ate in private so people wouldnt see me...and what i ate. I ate with my family... fast foods, very fat foods and never a veggie or fruit. I have had a few (maybe 4-5) bouts of "I just gotta eat something really bad to feel better" since surgery.... and oddly enough once I got what I thought I wanted, sat and looked at it .. I just didnt really want it anymore! I used to eat something fast food on my way to work everyday, and just today I went through the drive thru and ordered a McChicken biscut....and put it on the seat beside me, still in the bag, and never ate it.... ended up giving it to a coworker. I drank a protein drink on my way to work instead! My habits are SO much better now, but some days the old ones creep in and take over for a minute.... but thankfully I just dont need any of that anymore. But I have to be careful and mindful of what I am doing....

Not sure what to do anymore:(

tough situation for you i know. My husband is resistant to making any changes (other than complaining about the meals I cook now--- cause they are healthy and he wants "regular food") He started off walking with me, now he says he doesnt want to, nor does he want me to. He finds things to side track me so I cant exercies at the gym or even walk in our neighborhood. But he's finally figured out that he cant stop me from exercising or being happy about losing the weight. I hope things get better for you, it's tough to be happy and try not to hurt feelings at the same time. I feel like this is MY moment to shine because I worked for it....and he's just jealous and will have to either get on the program, or get off- but support my efforts anyway!

    16lbs til my goal

    great job!!
  12. Me too... I dont think about eating anymore so either my family has to remind me that its meal time..or I happen to look at the clock.... (who knew that could happen to me? LOL) and when I do eat I lose all interest in a few bites.... even when it's my favorite foods! I do drink all the time (water, crystal light) and I do use protein drinks so I am getting all my requirements in....just such a task to have to eat!
  13. WOW, how far will you be going? It seems a little rushed... but please do take care of yourself!! Remember that you shouldn't be lifting anything right after surgery. Maybe you should sit down with him tonight and go over the surgery and postop recovery times. This is NOT going to be a quick procedure or recovery! I will say a prayer for your surgery and recovery to be good (and hopefully quick since he's being this way)

    Must learn patience...

Patience is something I have NONE of! I know how you feel. Looking back at my process it does seem like it went by fast... but dear Lord while I was going through it took FOREVER! I read, researched and did everything I could to be "ready"... still seemed like forever! Good luck, hang in there!

    Restless Legs

seems like this happens to me a couple times a week. I have written down the days it happens to see what is going on with my diet/exercise maybe those days. I have found that it is days I dont get enough protein along with not walking on those days. So ... not sure which of the two it is...but going to keep tracking to find out. It is enough to drive you nuts when you can not simply get the legs to be still so you can rest!!

    Things I will not miss...

    Things I will not miss...

i can see me in every list. I dont sweat anymore...i freeze, but thats ok... I love it! I can do so much more now with 100lbs off...looking forward to doing even more with the next 100lbs off! Best thing is my family is getting smaller too! both my husband and daughter are losing weight and exercising with me!! We're a "health nut" family now! Who knew we could swap all that processed junk for some fruits, veggies and proteins and LOVE IT. We make trips to the farmers market now instead of the fast food places. Little changes at a time...but we're doing it!

    Things I will not miss...

I get this all the time... "When you lose the rest of that weight you're going to be a knock out"... or "Your husband wont know what to do with you when you get skinny"...... OMG! Drives me nuts!

    Goals out loud

Let's do it... we can!!! You two have gotten me motivated and excited!! I am gonna get to my goal! I have another goal for my (45th) birthday as well... I want to walk across the Cooper River Bridge in Charleston SC.... ( i live in the upstate of SC) for my birthday. It's only 2.5 miles (with a 5% grade on each end) so its not bad...its just I could have never done it at 370+ lbs and I've always wanted to do it. So this year I AM DOING IT! Thanks ladies for the extra push!!
  23. Anniesmom12

    Gaining weight

Sorry to hear this! This is my biggest fear! I am just almost a year out . I have read where people "go back" and start with the liquid phase and retrain their pouch.... think you could try that? Or go back to measuring out your portions and being strict with the diet and committing to more exercise. It's tough I know. But I would hate for you to have to have the unhealthy effects of regaining the weight! I hope you get back on track!
