I am so happy that today is finally here! I am heading to the hospital for surgery this am!! I thank you all for this site! i've learned a lot, gotten much better prepared and feel like I am in control of my recovery process because I've read all about y'alls! Thanks a million!!

My Dr's office turned everything in to Tricare on Thurs. Aug 2nd..... hoping to hear back by midweek with approval. Had my EGD yesterday, everythings in line and ready once the approval is given.... I am SOOO ready!! Hoping to hang on to my surgery date of Aug 13th!

Wow... WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!! So proud of you!!

I have Tricare Reserve Select and they said I had to do the 3 months of monitored weight loss, not the dr. When you think of it that it took years to get all this weight on us.... 4 months for this "tool" to help you get it off isnt too long. I know its hard to wait...trust me!! And my Dr's office can confirm...I am not long on patience!! But it's a process. Any surgeon you go to, unless you're paying cash up front will make you do what your insurance requires..... and tricare is set, they wont change the rules.... I tried!! Best of luck, trust the process and let it work for you. The 3 months of weight loss and learning process you go through will be helpful, and the time will FLY by, promise!! I started in April....my surgery is TODAY! It goes quick!

I know what you mean... I am nervous and excited that in 48 hours it will be done...and I will finally be on my way to losing weight that i so badly need to get rid of!! Praying for all who are getting ready for surgery too!

I started at 368 and am having surgery this coming monday... I need to weigh 165 according to my Dr.... You are not alone!! I gotta do it..No other options, no excuses!!

So the horrible lady at my dr's office that was such a bit** yesterday called me late this afternoon and said that she had not received the approval from Tricare but was going to go ahead and make the appointments for my preop class tomorrow at 830am, and I see the dr and go to hospital on friday at 130pm for preop test etc. Now...remember this is the same lady that raked me out just yesterday because I asked if she could make these appointments since she only had to submit the actual surgery date to Tricare for approval (they told her that was ALL they needed) and she said NO and yelled at me and got in to a huge issue with me... Now today she set all the appointments without the approval !!! By the way I got home from work today and logged in to my tricare page and found that at 5:27pm they had offically approved the surgery... so all is well... Surgery is MONDAY Aug. 13th!!! I am SO excited I can't stand it.... I got a lot to finish up (cleaning, cooking meals for hubby to eat while I am gone) I am already packed (thanks to all the tips for packing you have all shared!) and just passing time. I'm a little nervous, but far more ready to get this behind me and on the way to losing and living an active life!

Got the approval....everythings set for Monday Aug 13th!!

I can only buy clothes at 3 stores near my area... Lane Bryant, Avenue and Catherines... and I cant make purchases often because of the cost of the clothing! I can not afford $46 for a single shirt or $52 for one pair of pants! Its crazy!!!

Dont come to Spartanburg SC... thats where I am and they are the SAME here... center for excellence maybe for the Dr's....NOT the office staff!!

I have had a hard time with my "surgery coordinator" ever since I completed my 3 month weight loss. She misinformed me about seening another person in the office prior to being submited to the "Board" for approval so I had to hurry and see her then get the approval from the "Board" and see the dr one day and have my EGD the next. I explained to my Dr and his NP and everyone in the office my need to complete the surgery by Aug 14th due to my starting back to school so I can keep my current position at my job... sad thing is I work for the same hospital system that is doing my surgery...and that owns my Dr's office!!! I had to beg her to submit everything to my Tricare last Thursday, she did it. They sent back yesterday and said the only thing they need to complete the approval is the actual dates of surgery/admission...which should be next MONDAY Aug 13th!! But she hasnt submitted it to them as of now....and I still have 2 office visits to get in and a hospital preop to do... I've been telling them for 4 and a half months my "deadline" and they've all agreed it could be done.... Now I dont know what to do??? I called her this morning...but she hasnt returned the call... should I call the office manager?? or keep calling her?? I am afraid this one butt is going to cause a big screw up for me!!!!

Not doubt...I have to stay on them... got too many things depending on her to get her stuff straight and get me scheduled like she should....I am keeping on it!!

Maybe they dont understand what this means to us, or our families? If they have never had a weight issue then maybe they dont. But they shouldnt work in a n area where sensitivity is needed....if they dont have any! I have worked in the medcial field for 25 + years and NEVER have I treated a patient like they are not worth me helping...and having understanding of their situation. Everyone has a unique situation at times.... compassion goes a long way!

Oh dear Lord... I am a big girl but never have had big boobs!! So if I lose any in my boobs I will be completely flat chested...LOL!!! Wont mind saying good by to my back fat though!!

I was in no way being disrespectful of her, we work for the same hospital system, I would never talk to a coworker like she has to me! My Nurse Manager would have fired me on the spot! But for what ever reason she is acting this way, and she'll have to account for it....Karma is a b**ch sometimes. Maybe their other patients just arent doing the follow up as completely as I do? But this is important to me ... and I am not about to let her ruin my chance for a new life because shes a butthead! We'll see how today goes..... Thanks for all the support!

GIRL, I feel your pain! My dr's office is doing me the same way...dragging out what should be a very quick process now that they only had to put in a stupid date and I'd be approved and I can go to surgery and be DONE and not bother them anymore!! hope they help you soon!

I just talked to her again.... she finally revised my dates with Tricare...they will update within 24hrs (I talked to Tricare to make sure she did it). She and I had a very heated conversation as to why she has been treating me so poorly, seems it boils down to me working in the same hospital system as the Dr and being able to talk to him and explain my situation and him asking her to push it through for me. She said she doesnt like having to rush anything and I should have never asked that it be rushed and just let it take its course. She said she usually has 5 days to prepare a chart and she had to do mine in the same day.... guess she's pissed at me because he understands my reasons for needing to have surgery between certain dates..... not sure. Just hope I have very limited dealings with her after Monday!!
