    Hello.

Hello! And welcome! I turned 44 on Oct 6th!...and I started off at 370 in May 2012. I had RNY on Aug 13th and have lost 51 lbs so far. I wish you well and hope your surgery goes smooth. I had very little pain, no sickness and was back to work with in 2 weeks. I feel so much better (other than my legs hurting because I havent taken my viatmins like i should!) ... Wishing you all the best! Dont forget...WALK WALK WALK...!!

    Legs Hurting!

Kerrie-Ann sorry I missed your post! I think I'll try to be more faithful with my vitamins too.... havent taken in a while cause they made my pouch uncomforable. Think I'll try a different brand. Thanks luvlife for the information! I'll do anything to stop the painful calf muscles and hip joints!

I am finally able to drink more at a time, which makes me happy...I feel as if i can quinch my thirst now. However my legs are also killing me too! I am 2months out as of yesterday, and it seems as if my legs are hurting more the further out I get! i am used to walking 4-5 days a week at least 2 miles, but yesterday I went to a theme park and my legs hurt so bad when I got home and all day today! Not sure what to do for it!!

    The New Me...

Thank you for sharing this! I have trouble keeping focused that this is not an over night cure...but a life long process. It seems like forever going forward..but when you look back it's such a short time. Congrats on your sucess!! Hoping your 11 lbs to "onederland" is soon!
  9. If your marriage isnt strong before surgery.....it wont be after surgery! Things change when your husband sees you making positive changes, and it will cause issues if he doesnt support you and your efforts. I am happy to say my husband and I discussed the surgery and changes before I had surgery....and we had a clear understanding of my reasons for doing it, and that I dont intend to replace him or our life together....I just wanna be able to participate in our life and live long enough to see our kids grow up!

    Normal

I had surgery 8/13/12 and am starting to get my new "normal" in balance I think. Today is the first day I have felt good early in the am. My days seem to start off slow...but afternoons/evenings are great! Guess we'll all have to adjust to a new "normal".... find your new sense of balance and make that our normal now.

    Feeling Left Behind

I also had surgery on 8/13/12 ... I weighed in at 361 at my preop visit the friday before surgery and this morning I am at 335. So see we're about the same time and weight loss wise... you're doing fine! Just try to relax and learn your pouch. Go slow! This isnt about losing 100lbs in a month! You didnt gain it that quick....dont have such high expectations to lose it that quick. The journey is worth it, lets stroll down this path together....and not rush through it. Hang in there.... all will keep getting better! You are worth every minute of this journey to being healthy and happy!

    Anyone Weigh Around 400Lbs

When I started my journey I was 370lbs. I had surgery 8/13 and this morning I weigh 336. I too have 200 lbs to lose, but I am going to do it! I have read on this site that one or two have lose 200 or close to it.... so it can be done! Let's support each other and lose 200lbs!! (That would be 600 lbs between the 3 of us! Wow... )

    Nsv

I too noticed some "space" between me and the wheel this morning.... I was excited! Glad someone else notices those "little things" that always seemed to nag at us!! Congrats!! I am proud for you too!!

    Before And After

Wow, yes I can tell.... great job!!! How much have you lost and when was surgery?
  19. No, it doesnt hurt, maybe because its layers of fatty tissue? Not sure. My dr changed the dressing at my 1 week appointment and kept saying he was sorry for hurting me, but I never felt any pain! Only the pressure of him doing it. And it really doesnt bother me to change the dressings....its a little difficult cause it's me I am doing it to! LOL. I must have a high tolerance for pain... I havent had any pain medications since the night of surgery, and the nurse gave it to me then cause my blood pressure went up....so all she could say was "You must be hurting, I'm giving you some pain meds in your IV".

    Post Op Relationship

Be very careful with the "wandering eye".... I have heard a lot of post op people get that confidence after losing the weight and it has ended many a relationship. You really have to have a strong bond prior to having surgery as well as a supportive spouse during the process. Talk out issues with them. Unless you are unhappy prior to surgery and wouldnt mind a "change" afterwards. My husband and I talk about my changes and we look for new things we can now do together with both of us gaining confidence. I am always very honest with him about my feelings and needs.
  21. I left the hospital with an "open" surgical site. My surgeon said he stopped using the drains because of infection rates being high so he now leaves them "open". I have to pack gauze in it (its about 2 1/2 inches deep) twice a day. It "drains" as in the gauze "wicks" the fluid out. It's not painful, only thing is I have to dress it which is odd since I have to poke gauze down in it. He said it will heal on its own and I should feel the progression by not being able to pack as much gauze in each day... he said 2-3 weeks to close...I am 2 1/2 weeks post op.....and I think it'll be a week or so longer, not closed up as much as I thought it would be by now.

    Going Back To Work?

I had surgery on 8/13 and would have gotten to go back to work on 8/23 but instead of using a drain they leave the incison open....and I had some drainage issues so they told me I couldnt go back until Monday 8/27.... I am SO ready to go back!! I hate being home alone!!

    Underactive Thyroid Question

Thank you for this information. My RNY dr did say I needed to keep a watch on it for about a year to make sure it stays on an even level. I am going to be proactive about making sure I keep it in check. Thanks again for your response, it confirms that I MUST make them check my levels often and be sure I am not getting in to trouble with it. I can usually tell fairly soon when my level changes because of my energy levels, but I think now it could be confused with a "down" post surgery day. Keep me posted on how you're doing with it!

    Pcos?

Thats what i need most of all.... to get the facial hair growth diminished!! if not gone all together! I asked and was told that since its a hormone issues and the surgery will help with the hormones...it should start to diminish as the estrogen gets higher than testosterone.
