Early bedtime
Anniesmom12 replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I try to get in bed by 9pm if possible because I get up at 430am and I have read that you need at least 7 1/2 to 8 hrs sleep at night to help with the weight loss. I go to the gym from 445am to 530am everyday....then start my regular day at 530am by getting a shower, and family up and going! -
so today I had to go to a wedding .... needed some pantyhose...went to Lane Bryant. But was told Lane Bryant doesnt sell pantyhose any longer, just tights...control top tights... I havent worn tights in 40 years! But in a rush bought them anyway. Got home started getting dressed and this is how it goes..... The skirt I planned to wear was too big...had to change to a black dress I have, it was ok...but kinda baggy. Picked out a "sexy" kind of bra thats always been "tight"...it isnt anymore!! Put on the tights, without a problem!! My black dress shoes were too big too!! had to wear a flat pair! Dont get me wrong, I love the fact that everything is getting bigger...and I am getting slimmer. But wow! all at once?

Holiday party at hospital
Anniesmom12 replied to disneynut02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my dr's office did one just before Thanksgiving. It was wonderful to meet other people who had been through the surgery and hear how they are doing now. Some had their "before" photos and wow, what a change! It was lovely! They catered the meal, and there was all levels of food available for our diets! I met a few ladies who had surgery around when I did and keep in contact with them to see how they are doing. Its great to check in with them and we help each other stay on track! -
I wouldnt even share with my own Mother how much I weighed prior to surgery....well, I still havent! But this is the only place where I feel comfortable sharing this kind of information. I guess it's because we are all in the same boat. I havent been able to go to a support group local meeting because they are always when I work, but not sure I'd share anything about my actual weight there anyway....dont mind sharing the pounds lost or nonscale victories...but not how much I actually weigh. I would die if my husband knew I was up to 370lbs! He knows I am a big woman, but I couldnt bare telling him my actual weight!! Hes about 245lbs...so I wanna get lower than him!!
-
Well.... my drivers license actually says I weigh 260lbs.... guess I thought I was hiding those extra hundred ten lbs!! So I have a 45 lbs till I have to worry about it. But I more than likely wont change it until i renew it in a couple years.

People Are Starting To Notice!
Anniesmom12 replied to Baker_gurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always had issues taking compliments! Well, I usually only got "you have such a beautiful face, if you werent so heavy".... but not I get compliments and I am somewhat shy about acknowleding my hard work and the effort it's taken to get to where I am. Let's all work on that as a Christmas gift to our self this year! Soak in all the good people have to say and let it build us up! Lord knows, if you are like me, so many people have put me down because of my weight so long I need lifiing up!! -
It is a journey ... but I find everyday that I am learning the true worth of being able to use this "tool" and make progress. I wouldnt go back to the "old" me for anything! Congrats to you !! Keep up the good work! We'll make it!
-
You are doing so great too!! Proud for you!! helps motivate me!! Thanks!

3 Months Out And 50 Lbs Thinner! :)
Anniesmom12 replied to cmarie317's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so happy for you!! I am a little over 3 months out (Surgery 8/13/12) and feel the same way.... I am about to make the 70 lb mark and be under 300 lbs! I only have 2 lbs to go!!! So I share your excitement and I think this is the best thing that I could have done not only for me but my family as well! Best wishes to you!! -
I know what you mean... been the same with me! I've tried everything....guess I'll have to try being patient....not too good at that! Best of luck to you!!

So I weighed this morning and am down 58 lbs! Finally the scale is moving again! But I have had incredible energy today.... I have prepped and cooked what I could for this coming week, cooked 2 meals today, cleaned the house, did the laundry.... then painted my nails and am now coloring my hair. I've never gotten so much accomplished in one day!! And I even went out for a walk, 2miles! I am feeling great, noticing some changes with my clothing and feeling like I am not "stuck" being a "big girl"! It's amazing what a difference I feel when I look in the mirror.. I now wanna be "girly" where I didnt take time to before. I mean I alway wear makeup and dress well. But now I am taking time to make little changes to look better. I am happy!!
-
Yes, the surgery helps ...as a matter of fact I had issues with it prior to surgery and now I have no problems at all! I would wet myself sometimes and it wouldnt be because I sneezed or laughed...it was just uncontrollable. Now I am "dry" and happy!! I noticed a difference within a week of surgery, not sure if its because the weight was coming off....or because I dont drink sodas and tea.

I too am going nuts with a stall !!! I stalled for 1 1/2 weeks then lost a few pounds...now stalled again!!! Driving me NUTS!! I am doing all I can....just gotta wait and let my body adjust I guess. I want to be down at least 75lbs if not more by my next appt Dec 13th...that will be 4 months post op. I will increase my protein, exercise and try more water....although i could float now! Good luck to all the others with stalls.... hoping they break soon!

I hope it works the same for you! I had to pay very little with my tricare plan. And it only took about 3 days for an approval. Best of luck to you!

Underactive Thyroid Question
Anniesmom12 replied to Anniesmom12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I had surgery on Aug 13th...down 54 lbs... went on Friday to have my TSH level checked.... the Dr's Office just called and told me they are decreasing my Thyroid meds from 150mcg to 125 mcg cause my level is now 0.143....amazing! I have NEVER had a TSH level lower than 9.0.... I have been taking meds since I was 16 years old. Not sure if the surgery helped me get it that low...but WOW.. I do feel so much better, more energy! Still freezing, but not sure all of that is Thyroid problems. -
to the postop people ... did any of you have to take thyroid medication before surgery? (As in you had an underactive thyroid and they gave you medicaiton to take every day to help control it) If so ... how is it after surgery? do you still take the thyroid medication? Did you have to adjust it?
-
I have Tricare South....and it was only 3 months diet. I think it changed in May or June.

Thanks for that!! It came in handy!!!
