Has anyone lost 200lbs?
Anniesmom12 replied to shawna29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i also need to lose a total of 200 lbs....83 down...122 to go. I have seen a few people posting about losing 150lbs or so. Only 1 I've seen that lost 200 I think. I am currently stuck.... need to get moving downward again SOON! -
I do work... and I'll tell you how my post op went.... I had the ablation on Friday morning before labor day.... spent that day in the recliner (just because of the meds they gave me...I was OUT) the next day I went bowling in the late afternoon and on Sunday we went to a local amusement park (Carowinds). On that Monday (Labor day) I went to a family cookout and went back to work on Tuesday. I didnt have any problems at all. But its just me....I refuse to stay down and recover quickly I guess. I never really slowed down except the day of the surgery.

An ablasion is where they go in and remove the lining of the uterus....thus no more periods because there is no lining to shed. It stopped all bleeding for me!! And I have no more periods, not able to get pregnant. I LOVE IT!! It's like a non-invasive hysterectomy....only I kept my parts! So no hormone replacement!

Tanning bed adventure
Anniesmom12 replied to Anniesmom12's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I LOVED my free week of tanning...got a good base...but more than likely wont go back to tan more unitl March/April. (My skin holds color well, at least thats what the tattoo artist said! LOL) I tan easy and get really brown.... the hubby likes the "starter" tan I have now...lol he said "Wow, that brown in a week?" I only did the week this early in the year because of all of the rain/cold. Couldnt take it, had to have a little artificial "vacation".... -
I had ablation done 2 1/2 years ago...BEST thing (other than gastic bypass) I've ever done!! NO MORE BLEEDING!!! WOOOHOOO!!!

Gave away clothes today!
Anniesmom12 replied to Anniesmom12's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I felt the same way. I've been in and out of "big" sizes my whole life! I kept looking at that bag thinking ...."What if I need these in a year?" "what if this doesn't stick and I gain it back" but finally I had to take a deep breath and say "Know what...I am NOT going to fail, this is my new life and I am ready to move on!"... and the lady that picked them up really needed the clothes and was so appreciative of them! -

Weight loss and stalling
Anniesmom12 replied to Jbaz777's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to see you posting again! I want to tell you how proud I am for and of you for reaching your goal of flight medic! I work at an ER and know how hard you must have worked to lose the weight and reach that goal. It's good to see a photo of you in the 'copter! Congrats...and THANKS for the advice!! I find myself in a "Stall" and will take your advice and change things up! Again...so proud for you and of you! -
I am lucky to live in an apartment complex that has a small gym...for free! Not a lot of equipment, but I use it. I have priced several gyms for more variety, but they are so expensive so I stick with my free one! I have never been great with keeping a food journal, but I am trying so I can see why I am not losing right now. It is hard to work out or diet with friends who havent had surgery....they just dont get it! My sister had surgery almost 2 years ago and is starting to gain some back because she started back to her old ways....and I so dont want that to happen to me! I am eating on plan, exercising and still...stuck!! I will inbox you so maybe we can chat on a personal level. Would be nice for a "live" support person!

I did have my surgery Aug 13, 2012. I have lost 80lbs so far but find myself at a stall. My family isnt being as supportive as they told me they would be with going to the gym with me...but I go anyway. Hoping to start moving down the scale again soon. Do you go to a gym in Spartanburg? What is your routine? (If you dont mind me asking!) I really could use some support locally too!

I have been walking about 2 miles a day 4-5 days a week for about 3 weeks. However yesterday evening my husband and I went to "Scarowinds"...at Carowinds a theme park in Charlotte, NC and I found that my hips and legs started hurting after walking around for about an hour or two. They were kiling me by the end of the night! And today my hips and legs are sore and stiff. I have had some issues with "restless leg" like symptoms since surgery...but not everyday just maybe once a week or so when I lay down in bed. But this is totally making me feel like I have lost weight...and now my legs hurt! Didnt happen 50 lbs ago!! Anybody else have leg issues? Any suggestions what it could be? Thanks for any advice!

Christmas miracle or?
Anniesmom12 replied to Lebim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally had this happen to me a few days ago!! I was stuck....got discouraged and ate a little more food (nothing sweet or bad...just ate more) and sure enough i dropped 2 lbs in a couple of days!! No extra exercise or any other changes. I really must keep up with my food intake on paper...cause I feel like I eat a lot everyday but when I look at my journal it's not that much! -
So now that Christmas is over everyone is buzzing about making New Years resolutions....and it's all the same...lose weight, exercise, drink more water..... Well for the first time in my life I am NOT making a resolution to lose weight or exercise! I have those tools already in place!! I can start the new year off with plans to increase my exercise time, stay true to my plan to lose what I need to for my goal. It feels so wonderful to be almost 80lbs down and not have to hear myself make those promises that I never kept past the first week of each year. This years resolutions will include: more activities with my family...that I can participate in since I can actually move around more!! Both myself and my daughter will be going to Zumba classes, learning Yoga (Already signed us up...starts Jan 7th) Pampering myself more (Nails, toes, hair) since I never thought I was worth the effort before....now I know that the healthier I am ...they healhier my family is So much to look forward to ..... It really will be a Happy New Year!

New Years Resolutions
Anniesmom12 replied to Anniesmom12's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
We all had to start.... I had exercised NONE prior to having my surgery (well, other than the occassional start of a new diet routine) So hang in there...it'll be part of your routine before you know it...and it really helps the pounds drop off!! I struggle some mornings when it's cold....and I dont wanna get out of bed.... but I wanna get to my goal more than stay in bed...so I go! -
I told my Dr on Dec 13th when I went for my 4month check up just how happy I was to know going in to the holiday "eating season" that I wouldnt be over eating this year! I have been through both Thanksgiving and Christmas without "cheating" and it feels wonderful not to have to join in the coffee pot chats this morning about how much I over ate, how much I have to lose because of it....and how bad I feel. I simply spoke up and said "I lost a few pounds over the holidays"..... cause I kept up my exercies routine and watched what I ate closely.... added a little more protein in too.

so something silly to share.... This morning I was shaving my legs and for the first time in months it wasn't a big struggle. But as I looked down I realized that my leg shape and tone are changing. Haven't really paid any attention to them, never really did because my big belly was always in the way, lol. But since I have been exercising, walking and strength training it seems they have become shapely! Who would have guessed? The simple joys I find along on this journey are amazing to me! Feels great to be going down in size for a change!!
-
No regrets here either...other than not having it sooner! I feel great, learning to love exercies and being out and about doing fun things! Looking forward to losing and being healthy for the first time!

150lbs lost in 6 months!
Anniesmom12 replied to bigwaugh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some times we have to understand that until we take care of our self we cant take care of anyone else. Congrats on your journey!! I am proud for you and hope you acheive your goals!! You look great, but most of all you look confident and healthy!! Keep going!! You've come a long way!! -
When will I 'get over it'?
Anniesmom12 replied to monikazgreat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just remember....do what you are supposed to do, stay with the plan, exercise and enjoy the journey. I really doubt all of us put on the weight in a matter of weeks, we arent going to take it off in a matter of weeks. Dont be the Hare.... be the Turtle! Stalls are no fun, had a couple myself....but bump up the protein, exercise and patience...it will pass. Your body is going thru some big changes, let it adjust. Hope the stall passes soon for you!! But hey...you're on your way to a healthy you!! -
This mornings weigh in gave me such motivaton to keep on going! I now weigh 299 for the first time in at least 16 years. I simply could not hold back the tears!! It has been a journey, but I must say a very easy one so far. I have had no sickness, I am feeling great and have really started to embrace this new lifestyle with joy. I look forward to my morning workouts, I actually look for extra walking to do around work too! Never in my life would I have thought I'd look for ways to exercise! I just cannot express how over joyed I am this morning!!
-
I started off at 370....really thought I'd fail at this too....but I am losing! It's ok to make huge goals...you can obtain them! I never thought I'd be below 300 again....and now I am heading to the 280's! You can do it!! and like you said it's always just one day at a time!! I am excited for your surgery in feb!!
