Surgery Aug 7Th, Suddenly Not Feeling Well....
Sonjasophia98 replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're having lower back pain and a hard time peeing as well, it might be a urinary tract infection. Call your Dr. to get in to see him/her and drink lots of gatoraide, you may need more electrolites. This is what happened to me about a month after surgery with all of the symptoms you listed before as well as the symptoms above. -
Any Experiences With Post-Op Stress And Taking Zoloft?
Sonjasophia98 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello everyone, I had my lap band surgery on April 24, 2012. Right after the surgery I couldn't think clearly, or process information well. That has continued up to today. Also, I have noticed and my long term boyfriend has noticed that I get angry so much more quickly, I go from 0-60 in under 10 seconds. My weight loss surgeon (his nurse practitioner actually) has said that the blood tests/nutrition tests have all come out fine and suggested that I see my primary doctor. I met with my primary doctor yesterday and he said that one of his other patients who had lap band surgery had the same exact symptoms after surgery, and that he prescribed her liquid zoloft and that it helped immensely with her moods and with being able to think more clearly and that she only needed it for a few months to get through the rough patch. He said that the drop in weight can cause a drop in the seratonin levels in the brain. Have any of you had the same types of symptoms and used zoloft to help it? Did it help? Thanks in advance for your responses. Sonja -
Urinary Tract Infection After Lap Band Surgery?
Sonjasophia98 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone, I had my lap band surgery on April 25, 2012. A few weeks ago I had the feeling like I was about to get a bladder infection, burning feeling when having to urinate etc. My primary doctor's nurse (the dr. wasn't available to meet with me) tested my urine and with the doctor's advice thought that there was a bladder infection present, so the dr. prescribed an anti-biotic. I finished the round of antibiotic and had been feeling better, but two days later my symptoms came back 10 times worse, I had chills, headache, back ache, felt heavy in the abdomen area, had to urinate consistently for a few hours and the burning feeling when I urinated was getting worse and worse. I had the worst thirst of my life, I drank nearly a gallon of Water over the course of a few hours and still felt thirsty, it was really late at night around midnight by then, so I called my insurance phone nurse by then and when she heard all of the symptoms she said it was best for me to go to emergency. I went to emergency, that was two nights ago and the dr. there had my urine tested and said that it came back abnormal, so that I probably did have another urinary tract infection, but that I may have had a resistance to the first anti-biotic and that's why it didn't help the first time, and she prescribed me a different anti-biotic which I've been on for two days and will continue for another 8 days. She said that the results from the urine culture will not come back until Wednesday so that I can know exactly what bacteria it was and if I'm on the right antibiotic for it. I feel like I've been sick and on some sort of antibiotic ever since the surgery. Are bladder and urinary tract infections common after lab band surgeries and if so, why? Also, the first time I thought I had a bladder infection and got the first round of antibiotic, the dr.'s office later called me to tell me there had been no bacteria found after that first test. I finished the antibiotic just because I know you're not supposed to start an antibiotic without finishing it. But it scares me that I had all of the symptoms and yet the first test had come back negative of bacteria. -

Also, you might want to try to add in electrolytes, by drinking smartwater or pedialyte. Water by itself is not enough to replace electrolytes. Hope it helps!
