Hi bandsters, I frequent the ObesityHelp lap band forum, and someone suggested that I should post this info here. I have heard from a lot of patients who were either banded in Mexico or or are being charged ridiculous amounts for fills and aftercare who are frustrated and not having good results. I am fairly obsessed with seeing band patients do well, therefore I have decided to accept outside patients in my practice for fills and aftercare. My only requirement is that you go through our class with my dieititian (who is banded herself) and make a long-term commitment to aftercare with us. Our patients to well because we are demanding and follow our patients very closely! Our number is 877.442.BAND or 513.559.1222. If you need a reference just ask anyone on ObesityHelp, I spend way to much time over there! Dr. Trace Curry Clifton Surgical 330 Straight Street #401 Cincinnati, Ohio 45219 dr.c@thebanddoctor.com

You might be able to talk me into that, but my wife...that's another story. Dr. C -
I don't like the looks of that at all... Dr. C

If you had 2.8cc + 1.2cc in a 4cc band, that would mean you have 4cc's total, which is very unusual. Most people would not be able to swallow at that fill. The answer to your question is that, if you go forever without a fill, yes you will eventually be unrestricted because of the slight continual leak of Fluid. Hope that answers your questions! I see that a lot where I don't get out as much as I put in, especially early on in the fill process. I think what happens is that some of the Fluid stays in the tubing and you never get back out everything you put in. I would say the basic premise is: if you don't feel full and you aren't losing weight, you need a fill! Good luck, Dr. C -
Yes, this is the same as a slip. Sometimes surgeons (myself included!) are reluctant to use the word "slip". No use fretting until you get the test, even if you are slipped it's easily fixed. Good luck! Dr. C Cincinnati, Ohio 877.442.BAND

Your doctor should be able to prescribe a patch for you (like the one people wear on cruise ships). I use it for my patients a lot - it lasts for 3 days and is pretty effective. My guess is that the nausea will resolve soon once all the swelling is gone. Good luck! Dr. C

I have been at this for about 3 years. I've done about 400 lap RNY's and about 300 lap bands. Dr. C -
wk, I think your symptoms can totally be explained by your situation, that is a slip with a hiatal hernia. The good news is, once it's fixed you'll be good as new! Good luck, Dr. C Cincinnati, Ohio

Laura, If your port incision looks fine, the stinging is probably ok. If you have any signs at all of infection though, you need to be checked out. I'm talking about fevers, redness, draining pus, etc... Good luck, Dr. C Cincinnati, Ohio

Cheryl, Sorry to butt in, but I couldn't resist This is a 3 year process you're into here, and I see this a lot with lower BMI patients. You feel frustrated with the number of pounds you are losing, but if you look at the percentage of body weight, you are doing great! If you lose 10 pounds a month for 3 years you would be non-existant, so I usually tell my lower BMI patients to expect about a half a pound to one pound a week. Patience, grasshopper! Good luck, Dr. Trace Curry (aka Dr. C) PS I'm a bariatric surgeon in Cincinnati, I usually hang out on the ObesityHelp lap band board but thought I might check this place out.
