feb 2013 sleevers weigh in
Amie replied to kathyhalls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
287 1/29/13 Started Pre-opt diet 270 2/19/13 Surgery Date 242 4/24/13 Current weight I've lost a little more in the last to weeks, I started upping my calories and not stressing out about every little thing I put in my body. I have always gotten at least 60grams of protein in, but never hit my water goal. I've been on a million diets and all of them say water water water and I've never been able to drink enough, I do my best. I don't exercise everyday but when I do it is usually very intense. It feels great to have some weight off and can't wait for the rest to come off. I've started Karate lessons which is an awesome workout, I'm still one of the biggest in the class but they don't make you feel like it. They don't push you to do things you can't, they just want you to do your best. I would recommend Karate to anyone who wants something really fun and different. I hope everyone is doing well. Keep up the good work, we are still at the begining of a new life. -

That's pretty awesome!! I wish I had that number. I was sleeved on 2/19/13 and am down 21lbs since surgery 38lbs over all. Would like it to be higher but at least I'm still losing. -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
Amie replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So happy to hear everyone is doing so well. -
Try drinking milk. I lived on milk for 3 weeks as it was my pre-opt diet. Try to put your vitamins on the kitchen counter so you see them all of the time, hopefully that will help you not forget. And yes you should try some different protein shakes and Greek yogurts. You can do this!!

Amie replied to rubyshoes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way at that stage. It took me about a month to finally get my energy back. Just keep trying to walk as much as you can. I promise it does get better. -
Wish you would have had those available last summer. I can't wait to give all my clothes away!!!

"Get ya hot dog here".....
Amie replied to cmaloney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everything in moderation. I guess. lol If we all cared about what we ate no one would be using Crystal Light or Mio type products either. Just a bunch of chemicals. I watched a special on chicken nuggets one time and that was more gross than a hot dog. I would love to get to the point that everything I eat is all natural and or organic, but just not there yet. A chili dog sounds pretty good right now. -
That happened to me yesterday, it's finally nice enough to wear shorts and I need to run a little errand so I threw on a pair and out the door I went. Had to pick up a prescription and my shorts kept wanting to fall down, luckily I was able to keep them up. And when I got home they pretty much did fall down in my driveway. Embarrassing!!! What a great feeling it was though. I get to add them to the goodwill pile. Yippee!!!

Quote from Dr. Sharma's website got me thinking (WL goal related)

I also never asked how much I would lose and my surgeon never gave me a goal weight. I made my own goal weight but won't be upset if I never hit it. I got sleeved mostly to get healthy and fit again, which so far is working I've been to intense Water aerobics 3 times, played a full basketball game twice and started Karate on Friday and will be going again tonight. I'm starting to feel my core getting stronger and that I'm building muscle. It will suck if I don't get below 200lbs but even at 200 or 210 life will be sooo much better then when I was 287. -

How much weight did you loose pre-op?
Amie replied to Readytobeskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 17lbs in my 3 week pre opt diet. My diet was skim milk as much as I could drink in 5-10 mins 3 times a day. I could also have water and crystal light. I did cheat about 7 times. I lost more in my pre opt then I have post opt I'm 5 weeks out and have lost 20lbs. A total of 37lb. I'm finally starting to feel it. -

This is what I'm afraid of. I have also been very active, even at my heaviest 287lb. I'm only a month out but I'm sure if I can't get below 200lb I will be pretty disappointed. I wish you luck in hitting your goal. Just keep trying different things, switch up your diet and exercise to give your body a shock every once in awhile. -
Well that sucks. My company is huge and tries to get away with everything they can to save a buck and make us work more. I'm sooo glad they were forced to get rid of that policy. Maybe my union had something to do with it. I just know that if I had FMLA to take care of a family member that was sick, I would hate to have to take a vacation day every time I needed to take them to a doctors appointment. What would be the point in even getting FMLA unless you were going to be out of work for over 6 weeks.
-
I'm pretty sure that might actually be illegal for your company to do. My company did that for about 6 months a few years back and had to stop because vacation and personal leave days are earned and are yours to take when you want not when they say you have too. If this is an issue for you, you might want to look into it.

I love that Idea!!! I'm stealing it. Thanks!!

I think it depends on where you work and how/if they offer it. I have to go through the office that deals with my pension to get my short term disability.
-
I have a labor job. I had a week off vacation, one week off unpaid, 2 weeks light duty and just went to my surgeon for my 4 week check up and he said I still can't lift more than 25lbs so he told me I had to be on light duty for another 2 weeks. ugh I'm waiting for a phone call from work to see if they will approve me for 2 more weeks of light duty, if not I'm screwed and won't be able to work for the next to weeks. If that is the case I will be looking into my short term disability, it doesn't pay much but at least it's something.

I was told I could have decaf but my doctor doesn't want me to have any caffeine,

Portion size for puree stage?
Amie replied to amytug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1/4 cup is perfect for me with things like refried beans, chili, and egg salad. I can almost get 1/2 of cottage cheese and yogurt in. It's still hard for me to tell if and when I'm full so I have to measure so I don't get that over full feeling. -
Sleeved 2/19 down 18lbs. 35lbs total. I need to lose another 15lbs to actually start feeling it. I'm so happy to know I'm taking my life back and will soon be healthy again.

Starting out in a "stall"... has anyone else experienced this?
Amie replied to tamigail7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep been there. I didn't lose any weight during week 2. I weighted in on week 3 and wha la I lost 4.5lbs. I also had a 3 week pre op diet and lost 17lbs on it. I think by having a little longer pre op diet then some we stall sooner then most. Just keep doing what you're doing it will come off.
