Had my first fill last Thursday. It did not hurt but I was stressed out until it was over. Now I'll know what to expect. They didn't put much in, 1 ml I think. So far so good. I hope you are all doing great! Can't wait to figure out how this fill works out. Still mind over matter for me.

To Those Of You Considering Surgery
Jolly replied to James _Perkins15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mashed potatoes = crack! Hadn't heard that one but I believe it! Congratulations on your great progress so far. My surgeon put me on Bariatric Advantage meal replacement shakes. They aren't bad, I mixed a scoop of chocolate and vanilla most of the time. After 2 weeks any one food gets old. I start stage 3 soft foods Monday. Can't wait. -
I don't mind the Flintstones complete chewables, they are kind of tart which reminds me of a sweet-tart! I recommend that you not buy the cheapest blender, I got one for about $39.00 and it's a little more powerful than the cheaper ones, really blended those shakes good. I always used ice in mine and this blender did a good job of chopping up the ice. I've been using my small food processor/chopper since being on the puréed food, it works better than the blender. I am a tiny bit sore around my incision sites but nothing serious. I had a bit of an allergic reaction to the steri-strips but it's much better now. I'm so excited for you! Only a few more weeks! You have a lot to look forward to. 2012 will be our best year yet. Stay in touch.

I had to do 2 weeks liquid diet! You'll breeze through the week. It really makes a difference in the size of your liver which makes the surgery easier and safer. I am feeling great, thanks for asking. I am 2 weeks post-op and next week I get my first fill. I am already loosing weight. I look forward to next week when I can start soft but "normal" food! No more blenderizing! Only a few more weeks for you! I hope they fly by. I think you will be so glad you made this decision. Keep in touch.

That is great! I haven't had my first fill yet and I am anxious about it. Was it difficult for you? -
Hello everyone! I was banded May 21, 2012 and it went great! It was a long 6 months waiting in insurance authorization but well worth it. The 2 weeks of protein shakes was tough but went by fast enough. I had very little post surgery pain, hardly any residual gas pain and I'm back to wor 1week later. Still on puréed foods that I'm quickly getting tired of but understand the purpose. I have lost 17 pounds just from modifying my diet prior to surgery and of course the shakes and 1 week post op small food amounts. This has been SO worth the wait. Wish I had done it years ago. Looking forward to my first fill on 6/14/12. Thanks to those who wrote to me. Good luck to all who are awaiting surgery!

Hi, I'm loving reading the success stories, recent entries, just about everything. One thing I realized is that I picked a goal weight out of "thin" air. I picked 165 because I can't remember when I was that small. I guess I was looking forward to lowering my blood pressure and not becoming diabetic as much as setting a goal weight. I hope I haven't short changed mysel and I know I can change the goal. Did anybody else do this? It may be my way of trying not to fail...again. If I don't set my standards too high....same old way of thinking. I am 1.5 weeks post banding and feeling good. Down about 23 pounds and looking forward!

Fantastic! I was banded 5/21/12 and feel successful as well. Tried super hard and succeeded with pre-op shakes and sticking to the post-op 3 week plan. I'm down about 20 pounds and wearing my "other" clothes already. I've lost as much in a couple months and feel better than the years I was on WW. Thanks for sharing your story. -
Can't wait to get to the store for the guacamole and beans idea. Nothing tastes good when it's blended to death!

I have the same fears. I'm in the purée stage and hate it! LOL! Afraid that when I can bite into something again it will be a pizza! Hang tough and I will too. Good luck!

Wow what a great attitude you have! Just remember it's only one more week and your family is right it is nothing less than Heroic! Good luck, you'll do great!

I think most require a 2 week protein shake diet. It helps shrink the size of your liver so the surgeon can access the top of the stomach with fewer complications. My doctor gave me 4 meal tickets during the 2 weeks so I could have 4 high protein, low fat meals during that time. You'll get thru it. Remember it's only 2 weeks!

Congrats! Hope you get a June date! I am 9 days post op and doing great so far. I'm sure you will too!

I am new to this site too. My surgery is scheduled for May 21 and I'm very excited about it. I am nervous about the two weeks of protein shakes preceding the surgery and about all the bad news I've heard about gas pains after the surgery however these are small things in my opinion. I'm excited about this being a positive change in my life. I hope to stay connected with everyone here.
