Welcome carol. I have had all the preop done and am waiting on a date from my doctor, which I will get on may 22. They tell me it will be early June. So glad to have you here!

I am so glad someone asked that. I don't know the answer, but I have wondered the same thing. I assumed it would be the same as for a csection -- 6 weeks. Anyone know?

You look amazing -- if you don't mind me asking, did you have any skin issues? If no, how did you avoid?
-
Jimmy -- hope you are doing ok -- really worried about you.

On the Protein bullets- my NUT suggests blending with yogurt. On the other stuff, I know that pier one sells a lot of stuff for tasting parties -- really cute plates, small forks and bowls, demitasse spoons -- I am thinking of heading over there and getting special dining ware -- just for me.

New Kid On The Block (^.^)

Lulugirl -- no it's my Boston terrier bogey -- thus my screen name, bogeydog. I thought it was appropriate for mother's day -- I have two other "real" i.e human children, but they would kill me if I ever posted their pics on a public message board. They are teenagers , so... -

Gaining. Two Years Post Sleeve This June
bogeydog replied to friendINdeed's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Antidepressants may the culprit. They are what started me on my journey to obesity -- they didn't get me all the way there, but they definitely gave it a push. But if you need them, then you need them. I would talk to your surgeon -- it may be that a change in the type of antidepressant could make a difference. Good luck. -

Who To Tell And Not Tell....
bogeydog replied to kmoore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have told my husband, my children, one of my sisters and two of my best friends. I did not tell anyone at work -- I researched what surgery would require a lap procedure and that period of recovery and if anyone actually asks what I am doing -- and amazingly some nosy people do, even when you say you don't want to discuss details-- I had already been telling them I was having my gallbladder taken out, so that is pretty funny that one of the posters mentioned their doctor suggests that. My reason for not telling isn't out of embarrassment. It is clear from this forum that the amount of weight lost and the speed or slowness of dropping that weight varies significantly. I don't need people judging my sleeve -- good or bad. Enough pressure is brought to the table without people doing that. However, I think who you tell and when is a personal decision and as long as you are ok with your decision, then that is what counts. -
Are There Any Protein Drink Shots Available?!
bogeydog replied to spadesmcloven's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My NUT recommended blending the protein bullets in yogurt - she said to 1/2 the 50 g protein ones though-- she says your body won't process that much all at one time. -
How do you add friends on here?

Questions About Psychiatric Eval And Uhc 6 Mnth Stipulation
bogeydog replied to Snoopy1968's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just had mine yesterday. About 45 minutes of talking-- mostly about why I wanted to do this, what were my expectations and what support systems did I have in place. The computer test was all true or false and seemed to be looking in the following areas: support from friends or family, faith reliance, willingness to seek medical treatment when needed, current mental attitude, how I view myself, whether I am a leader or follower, my willingness to follow directions, and how the world views people who don't conform. Then, there was a small written test -- 2 pages- that asked about food issues -- seemed to be red flagging for eating disorders. There was a written portion where I had to complete patterns and make word associations and had to pick the word that means the same as the word given (like it pays to enrich your word power from reader's digest) -- not sure what this part was for, but seemed like they were testing for intelligence. I had to copy shapes by drawing (ability to observe and follow directions maybe???). Finally, I had to free form complete about 50 questions like I wish .... I would like to know... I secretly .... My greatest fear is ..... My mother is ..... My best friend is ...... etc. hope that helps. -
I don't want to sound like an idiot when I go in for my pre surgery consult, so does anyone on here know how to correctly pronounce bougie? Also, what optimal size should I be looking for him to use?

Stupid Question ......

Thanks everyone! -
Start out on the lowest level of resistance, go as slow as you need to in the beginning and if your machine has arm involvement, work up to that later. Do something else -- watch a video or tv to take your mind off of it.

Had my meeting with my nutritionist today and she said I seemed very well informed and knew exactly what to expect. Of course I do -- I am addicted to the forum. Lol. Any other addict stories?

Newbie To Forum, Let Me Introduce Myself...
bogeydog replied to kmoore's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Kim. Saw your introduction and wanted to write -- we have very similar journeys, same build and actually kind of look a little bit alike. I am 45. I have my psych, nutritional and exercise consults tomorrow and my endoscopy Friday. My surgical consult is may 22 and they will schedule my surgery then. I am having surgery in u.s. and am self-pay, so they are estimating early june. I know that puts me a little ahead of you, but I would love to have a sleeve buddy, so if you are interested, private message me and I will give you more info about me. Welcome to the forum, but warning .... It is completely addictive.
