  1. Hey Kiki we were sleeved the same day and have lost almost the same amount of weight. The difference? I did NOT lose 18 pounds the first week. It was 5 immediately and then stall. The next week 6 then stall for days. This pattern has continued each week. My body stops and adjusts to the loss. And that's what you're doing now which is why we're in the same place. Different pattern but same result. 20 pounds in less than 2 months. Yay us!

Evie Sleevie tolerated it very well and it moved the scale. Lots of NSVs every time I wear something. I LOVE my sleeve!

    I Dont Kno...

Christi, you are so right to look at your relationship with food at this point. I completely understand your statement about food being the highlight to your day. I still struggle with that because eating a big meal with all my favorites is no longer my comfort. The key for me is realizing a REAL friend would not make me unattractive, insecure, and unhealthy in so many major ways. As I progress, some things taste SO good, but only for two or three bites. That was always true but I continued to eat past that point. Now I don't. With this control, food is being put back in it's rightful place. Good luck to you!

    Anyone Have Itchy Staples?

Mine too but Neosporin really helped.
  5. I've read so many posts from people who are discouraged with their weight loss because they're comparing themselves to others on the forum. No, we shouldn't do that, but we ALL do. I'm hoping this will help. Instead of looking at just the number of pounds someone has lost, look at the PERCENTAGE of their original body weight they've lost. For example, someone who weighed 400 pounds and lost 100, has lost 25% of their body weight. Great job! But if another person weighed 260 pounds and loses 65 pounds, they've also lost 25% of their body weight. That's also a great job! Yes, gender, age, and biochemistry also matter. But hopefully this will help you put things in perspective. I try to remember this when I'm comparing myself to someone else. Continued success to you!

What great news! Thanks for sharing, that lifted my spirits.

    Constipation

I tried the Ducolax and it was very effective. I couldn't make the Miralax work, it congealed in the cup before I could drink it! I'm finally settling into a rhythm without aids but it is NOT every day like pre op. Is there anything in your diet that could be making this a chronic problem? I love cheese but it does cause constipation for me.

    Having Doubts.......

I knew I'd get no support from my husband so I didn't even bother to tell him until my surgery was scheduled. He tried to talk me out of it for TWO hours. But no one knows me and how I've struggled to control my weight like I do. The next morning he said he realized I didn't tell him to discuss it, but to notify him. LOL He's catching on. Then he joined me on the pre op diet and has since lost 20 pounds on his own. Do the right thing for you and others will follow!

    71 Lbs Down 2 Months Out :)

That's right, this is not typical. But your results show what you CAN achieve with unfaltering discipline and hard work! Your performance out of town shows if you stay the plan, you can lose even when the circumstances around you aren't the best. Congratulations and keep up the excellent work!

    Sayonara To 100 Lbs!

You look fantastic. But you earned it! Congratulations for a wonderful job.
  13. My training for The 3 Day for the Cure started mid May and my surgery was July 9th. The weekend before my surgery I walked 7 miles on Sat and 6 miles on Sun. I was also doing kickboxing and Zumba. After surgery I walked a mile 4 days post op and slowly built up. Four weeks post op (last weekend) I walked 10 miles on Sat and 6 miles on Sun. I also walk 4 miles on Tues and Thurs, do weight training (nothing over 8 pounds) 20-40 min on Wed and Fri. Monday is recovery. My walking speed is 18:45 alone, faster on the weekends with the team. I've added some Gatorade carbs to fuel my walks and feel much better. No hopes of building muscles, just burning the fat off the muscles I already have.

    Pain And Very Hungry

It's very, very important that you stay hydrated during this period. Many people find cold water doesn't work so they drink room temperature water. Also other warm drinks like tea and decaffinated tea can be very comforting. Whatever you drink, at this stage, just sip. Seriously. Really small sips. If you can sip an once every 15 minutes, you can build up from there. Your hunger is more likely to be thirst. This is a good way to find out. You say you're in the bathroom every hour. Make sure you stick to the liquids appropriate for your stage. Also a PPI (prescribed or OTC) can make a huge difference. I have to take mine twice a day. Ok. Let's see if you can start to feel better.

    Is Everything So Sweet

So much of my body fat did come from sweets but I'm had the same problem. Water with lemon or lime breaks the sweetness. I also added black pepper to my soups for a bit of spiciness.

    8 Weeks Post Op Update

Way to go, buddy! You're looking great. Don't worry about those pesky stalls. You're workin' that sleeve

    Week 6, Nothing Staying Down.

Good advice. If the PPI you're taking doesn't work, ask your dr for something else until you get one that does work. On the other front, work problems come and go. Don't let this situation sabatoge your weight loss or your job! Get the nutition you need somehow. Try the protein shake options until you find something that works. For the job, look for something else or make lemonade out of those lemons you've been handed. I know! I had a job I loved until March of this year. I tried to stick it out but it just got worse. Had a great interview for a position in another department Friday. I hope you start feeling better. We're all here for you so keep us posted.

I Knew It Was To Good To Be True!

Yeah, the ER is a hassle but you really don't want to give it more time to spread to somewhere like your lungs or bloodstream. Don't mean to scare you but infections love to travel!
  20. You and your family are in my prayers that the worse is over! Please rest when you get home so you can heal from all this.

    Labor Day Challenge 2012

Week Four post op Challenge weight: 203.4 Last week's weight: 192.8 Today's weight: 191.0 (down 1.8 pounds) Goal weight: 180 After last Monday, went up 1.2 pounds then into a stall until yesterday. Looking forward to a bigger weight loss week. Lots of NSVs every time I wear something. I LOVE my sleeve!
  22. I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you. But it's only been 3 weeks so I'm hoping things start to improve for you very soon.

    No Weight Loss :(

Maybe tweaking a couple of things will help. Make sure you keep the carbs under control. Who knew skim milk had carbs??? Exercise more. My long walks are therapeutic. And drink that water. I'm STILL struggling with that but the few days I hit it, the scale moved. Hang in there. We can do this!

    What's Happening? (Lbs Vs. Size)

If you're that big of a difference in clithing sizes, just hold on! The scale will reflect the change eventually. Just stay focused on the things we're supposed to do. I love Geno's analogy. A scale can only show what you weigh, not how you look. Good luck!
