  3. The first picture is the start of my pre-op diet, May 24th. Because of intubation problems, my surgery was delayed four weeks so I had a 6-week pre-op period. My surgery was July 9th and the second picture is from yesterday, September 9th. More to come in two months!!!

Did Anyone By A New Article Of Clothing Pre-Surgery?

I have many sizes in my closet so I'm enjoying wearing things I liked so well but, um....outgrew. BUT pre-op I did buy a size 6 dress to wear to my 40th high school reunion next year. Optimistic? Yeah, but also determined!!!
  5. Weight before surgery: 235.8 (at the consult) Date of surgery: 7/9/12 Weight 7/1: 184.4 Weight 7/8: 181.8 Goal weight for competition: 160.0 Slow week with lots of bouncing but yesterday and today things seemed to be moving again. Continued good luck to all!

  7. It sounds to me you're doing everything right too! But for clarication, it sounds like you're getting 2 L or 80 oz of water? If so, that's excellent. Also sounds like you're tracking well but are you using a tool like My Fitness Pal to make sure nothing sneaks past? Other than that, the added exercise may be the ticket for you. One thing you didn't mention is whether or not you're seeing a change in how your clothes fit. Stay the course, the scale will move! Keep us posted.

    Going Nuts! Help Please.

Six months is a very short time for your brain to wrap itself around such a big change. I think you're right that a therapist could help you see and feel yourself the way you really look and feel now. I've already read "Skinny Jeans at last. Secrets to long term weight loss surgery success." by Cliff Thomas, M.D. It was a eye-opener for me on some issues I've been secretly harboring and how to address them. Get some help so you can enjoy your success. You deserve to be proud and happy!!
  9. Hi Kiki! I had an unusual start. After a 14 day pre op diet that I followed without fail, my surgery was postponed for 4 weeks! I was then on a modified high-protein diet and lost a few more pounds. Post op I ate 400 to 500 calories but now that I'm exercising more I eat 800 to 1000 calories. I work out 6 times a week for at least one hour, with the weekend being long distance walks. Last Saturday was 14 miles and Sunday was 10 miles. I only do exercises I enjoy and look forward to. I'm trying to keep my carbs down except for the long walks because my body needs fuel. Still working on getting the Protein up and many people on this forum have helped with great suggestions and receipes. For example, I put yogurt in my unjury shake, I use fresh fruit in plain yogurt for less carbs, and veggie sausage for more protein and less fat. Also, once I discovered lemon or lemon juice made my Water delicious and much easier to digest, I get almost all my water in every day. But I still have much room for improvement on all fronts. I hope that helps but if you want to talk more, feel free to send me a message. I'd love to chat and share strategies! G.

Will I Start To Look Old?

After the first pounds, my neck looked a bit gaunt, but I've taken care to use a brush with my face cleanser and moisterize. I think the elimination of sugar, fried foods, and other toxins has also helped. Besides, everyone I've seen on this forum with before and after huge weight losses, looks much younger (and healthier) to me.

    Emilybites Cheeseburger And Lasagna Cupcakes

I went to favorite supermarket looking for won ton wraps and all they had was egg roll wraps. The manager said he tried ordering the won ton wraps but they still shipped him egg roll wraps. So I decided to give them a try and I think they worked out great! They're the Nasoya but they're 11.7 g of carbs (35 g for 3). I'll just keep trying to find the won ton wraps.

    Getting Very Frustrated

I drank chicken broth with pepper. It was such a treat to have something that wasn't cold or sweet. I saved it for my evening snack and went to bed happy. And early.
  15. Working out and drinking the water have been the difference makers for me. You may be get started slow, but build it up with time and I believe you'll be happier with your progress. And as you progress, please keep us posted. Others may have great suggestions for you.

    Big Mistake!

I mixed a 4 oz can of tuna with a boiled egg and low fat mayo and it was quite filling. Are you sure it was an 8 oz can of tuna? Also, getting in all your water will mean you always have something in your stomach, even waiting 30 minutes to eat.
  18. Weight before surgery: 235.8 (at the consult) Date of surgery: 7/9/12 Current weight: 184.4 Goal weight for competition: 160.0 Joined the Labor Day Challenge a couple weeks late so I'm very excited about this one. This is a stretch for me but that's how I like it

    The Night Before...

Very ready and very prepared. I was ready for the Loser's Bench. Ready to get rid of years of yo-yo dieting. It's the best thing I've done for myself and I knew it before my surgery. As far as complications, I had faith God would finish what He started. Get a good night sleep and keep us posted.

    I'm Sleeved! Yay

Welcome to the Loser's Bench! If the nausea gets bad, they can give you meds. Don't hesitate to ask, you need to be able to rest and heal. Keep in touch.

    Is It Normal

Sometimes your choices influence the amount. I was stuck in the airport Sat and bought junk food for the wait because I can eat so little now. Surprise! Those Doritos and chocolate sticks went down and left me searching for more. Many hours later I had chicken salad and my restriction was back! My fav receipes are on theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. Enjoy!

    Is It Normal

I'm no expert either but I also vote No. Corndogs are fried and have lots of sweet yummy batter. Yes, one of my favorites. If you look at the carbs and fats, I trust you'll see it won't help your weight loss. Also a sandwich with what? Maybe two slices of bread? Also not the best course. Basics like baked fish and baked chicken with a vegetable fixed in a healthy way is more in line. I'm sure you're already doing this, but maybe the occasional corn dog or sandwich are slowing you down. Oh, and don't forget 64 oz of water. These processed foods tend to have more sodium. That water makes a world of difference for me. Good luck and hang in there!
