    Protein Causing Weight Gain

Before you assume it's the protein, I suggest you look at all the other factors to make sure they're in line. Are you drinking at least 64 ounces each day, mostly water? What's your calorie count each day? Are they mostly low fat calories? Are you taking all the vitamins and supplements prescribed at this point?

    Height, Weight, And Size Poll

I'm almost 5'1" and weighed 235.8 in April 2012 Wore size 2X in tops, 18w/20w in pants. My surgery was 7/9/12 Now weigh 160 and wear Misses large/medium in tops, 16/14 in pants. The differences are amazing. Looking to find someone my height for a comparison. I'm also losing more quickly from the thighs and butt than the stomach but the stomach is looking mighty good!

    I Just Can't Wait To.....

I can't wait to cross my legs without having to grab my ankle and try to glue it to my knee. Also can't wait to go shopping and find something where either 1) they have plenty in my size or 2) alll the sizes are too big for me.
  5. It is NOT hopeless by any measure. None of us were where we wanted to be weight-wise and this seemed hopeless to us. But now we're rockin' our sleeve and making progress every month. If you haven't already done so, take your measurements now. I really wish I had done that early on. Also take some pictures or graph your numbers. The progress will astound you and keep you pumped. So don't cry, sweetie. Congratulate yourself on having made this awesome decision and commit yourself to making it work. You've already amazed me and there will be much more to celebrate!
  6. The same thing happened to me last night. I made a funny comment at the end of a movie and people in front of us turned around and laughed. I instantly recognized them, but it took them awhile to recognize me. Then all they could say was how wonderful I looked and how much weight I'd lost. You are so right, Jane. After being in a stall for a week now, that really lifted my spirits and reminded me how much better I looked. Today, I press on!

    1 Mth/50 Lbs Before/after

What an amazing difference in how you look! Great work but this is only the beginning for you. Thanks for sharing with us.
  8. This may TOTALLY not be for you, but I weigh every day. For me it's like driving. I don't know where I am if I'm not looking at where I'm going. I know it can be a problem for some but when I have a bad day, I need to see the damage, get over it and move forward. When I have a good day, I need that feedback. I should be taking more pictures, but I have a few group photos that show the change. I think that's going to be my only regret.
  9. Finishing up Thanksgiving challenge so it's time to set the goal for the first day of the new year. Thanksgiving Day Challenge

Pre-surgery Wt: 235.8 Surgery 7/9/12 Weight at Surgery: 208.5 11/1: 166.4 (bouncing around this week) 11/8: 161.2 11/15: 161.4 Challenge Goal: 155 Big loss then hit a wicked stall. But I'm dedicated to the Water, upping the Protein, and maintaining the exercise. I have my 4-month check in today so I'll be looking for some guidance there. I'll get at least close to my goal so I'm headed to the Christmas Challenge to set one there. Best of luck to all this final week. Gobble gobble!

    Syntrax Nectar Question!

I tried Strawberry Kiwi and Fuzzy Navel. I love them both! I mix in room temperature water and add ice cubes. I didn't care for the Carribean Cooler as much. Those are the only ones I've tried. I would like to try the chocolate or cappuccino but I'm so tired of trying protein drinks that I'll stick with these for awhile.

    Thanksgiving Day Challenge

Love these challenges! I have goals for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. I'll be revising the other two based on this one. Pre-surgery Wt: 235.8 Surgery 7/9/12 Weight at Surgery: 208.5 Current Weight: 166.4 (bouncing around this week) Challenge Goal: 155 Aggressive, but I've got a plan For NSV, Water and Protein will be my focus. Also continuing to work out 6 days a week. Good luck to us all!
  13. I can honestly tell you it gets much better than the period you're in. I started to wonder what my life was going to be like too in that period. No throwing up, but definitely nauseous and sick of liquids. But I have to tell you honestly, the times of sitting around and eating and talking with my friends is much different now. I sometimes watched enviously as they eat, and eat, and eat but I'm full after a couple of bites. I've even overeaten just to fit in. But I'm learning to take my bite or two and then visit and talk. It's an adjustment but one that best fits my priorities which are to be skinny and healthy. I'd much rather have all the benefits of my weight loss. It'll never be like it used to be for you but that may be ok. Give it a few months before you decide.

Surgery Tomorrow -- What To Expect?

Very much like any surgery. I talked to the financial lady and then waited in the lobby. Everything was running late even though I got there at 6:15 am. They took me back and got vitals. Let me go to the restroom, then hooked me up to all sorts of monitors for blood pressure, temperature, etc. and an IV. My hospital gave me a small shot before the IV to numb that spot. Worked great. I also had a shot of heparin to prevent clotting. When they hooked me up, I was already in the lovely hospital garb. I know I had the standard non-slip socks and also support hose. I was in that prep room for quite some time with visits from my patient advocate, lots of nurses with questions, the anesthesiologist, and my surgeon. At some point they allowed my husband back and we chatted for awhile. I can't remember for this surgery if they put something in my IV before I left the prep room or if I I remember riding down the hall (I've had many surgeries.) Is that what you were looking for?

Scared As Hell Of Excess Skin!

For dry skin brushing I got the Yerba Prima Tampica skin brush after reading the reviews of several brushes. I love it. I also bought Ecotools Bamboo Bristle Bath Brush to use in the shower. It's great for the back and legs/feet. For a moisturizer I tried the coconut oil. It's great for really dry skin and it only takes a little. Warning: I found mosquitos are very attracted to it. Enjoy!

Scared As Hell Of Excess Skin!

Hey ladies. I'm also in my 50's. 57 to be exact. I'm doing cardio and weight training to minimize my saggy skin. Whatever sag I have I'll live it for awhile because it will change over a couple of years. There are some good articles out there about dry brushing and I do that too. Amazon has an excellent selection of brushes to revitilize and engergize this important, forgotten organ. I'm hoping that will also help. I bought my goal outfit right before my surgery. Yup, I was a size 18/20 pants and 2X top and I bought a size 6 dress!!!! In a way it seemed silly but I'm less than 4 months post op and my size 16 jeans are loose! Dream big, lose big. Good luck to you!
  17. WOW your surgery was on my birthday! My surgery date is about 6 weeks before yours. You are doing wonderful and you look fabulous. In a couple of months you'll actually start to fathom that 130 goal. Keep up the great work!
  18. Weight before surgery: 235.8 (at the consult) Date of surgery: 7/9/12 Weight 9/01: 184.4 Weight 9/08: 181.8 Weight 9/16: 177.0 (Switched to Sundays) Weight 9/23: 174.8 Weight 9/30: 174.2 Weight 10/7: 172.2 Weight 10/21: 168.8 (On vacation and still lost weight!) Weight 10/29: 165.8 Goal weight for competition: 160.0 I hit a stall over the weekend so I waited until today. And it was worth the wait. I won't be 160 on Wednesday but losing 10 lbs a month makes me smile Time to start looking at the next few challenges and when I MIGHT hit goal. Continued success to all of you and see you in challenge.

    My Terrible Day

So she's stated her opinion. She doesn't think you have time to devote to successful weight loss after a sleeve. Now it's your turn to state YOUR opinion. You are informed, committed, and ready to move forward. Since you know yourself considerably better than she does, your opinion is the one that matters. You got to this point with the input from your physician. How dare they second guess the both of you. Stand up strong against this woman. She's wrong and you know what you want!! Tell her and the rest of the team this is right for you.

WOW! Very nice. You've made wonderful progress. You look so much younger!
  21. Weight before surgery: 235.8 (at the consult) Date of surgery: 7/9/12 Weight 9/01: 184.4 Weight 9/08: 181.8 Weight 9/16: 177.0 (Switched to Sundays) Weight 9/23: 174.8 Weight 9/30: 174.2 Weight 10/7: 172.2 Weight 10/21: 168.8 (On vacation and still lost weight!) Goal weight for competition: 160.0 Nine pounds in ten days won't happen but I'm still pumping to get as close as possible. Let's all close STRONG!
  22. I'm only 3 months out and finding it very difficult to "eat" enough Protein and keep my carbs down at the same time. I went to the Vitamin Shoppe this morning and bought a whole new sampling of protein because I don't like the taste of any of the ones I have. The unjury is ok with milk and I have to dilute the Premier with milk too. I loved them both preop. For me,the shakes are going to have to be a permanent way to get in enough protein.
  23. My surgery was 7/9 but I LOVED seeing this. It's better than any drawing I was shown. I'll watch the longer one too when I get time. Thanks so much for sharing!!
  24. Oh yeah. I'm between 5'1 and 5'0.
  25. You ladies are doing fantastic!!!!! My highest weight was 235 and I lost 25 before surgery. Surgery was 7/9 and now I'm down to about 170. I have a goal of 120 but I'll make adjustments once I see what that looks like. Continued success to you!
