5 Days Post Op, When Can I Start Working Out & What Should I Do?
alliegb3 replied to NJsharon's topic in Fitness & Exercise
You can and need to start tread milling today. Nothing fast or fancy. My gym also has a track (indoors, yay!) those can be walked too. Don't do it on drugs if your still on them. And no eliptical or weights... But go for it love, the sooner the better -
Yeah 6-8 weeks, make sure to talk to your doc. Communication is the key. He will be so excited to get you finding something you love, he may put you to work out sooner. Best luck, love
-
Ask your doc when an appropriate time to start is. People LOVE zumba and get addicted to it (rhythm things are not my thing) but you'll do so great and tone up some of the necessities. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing! It's always so important to remember the benefits when we feel like skipping 'just one day' the simple act of walking is so important! And as a bonus, we can share that time with a loved one.

Heatherr- you're my hero. All that sounds so omg delicious. I never thought of buffalo shrimp.... Mmmm

Your body is more than likely rebelling. Now it's is 'starvation mode' and holding on to EVERYTHING you put in it. Just do exactly what your NUT tells you (and call her if you're worried, that's what she's there for) it'll all work out fine if you just do what your told.

Pain In Hiatal Hernia Repair Area
alliegb3 replied to findingmyself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine went great. The only thing was this weird sensation when swallowing it was like it stopped in my throat, then proceeded downward. But never caused any pain -
From a medical perspective: double your use of the incentive spirometer. If its really stressing ya, take liquid Tylenol. But most doctors (I don't want to say don't care... But) don't care unless it's over 101. It's common- no worries, love

It depends on the person, but I'd recommend the sleeve for those who qualify. I discourage bypass , I work at a hospital that specializes in wls. So it just depends on persons involved

Just get a good blender. Those bullets are so over rated! They don't even do as good as just a good quality blender.

Constantly Hungry? 3 Days Out Of Surgery
alliegb3 replied to HondaCivicDude's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I had my vsg Monday 5/21, and I am hungry feeling too and dying of thirst. I think it's just a phase. I put in a call to my NUT just to make sure -
If you do need a little something- get a can of tuna in water, add just a tbsp of mayo or so- that's be fine. The thing is high protein- no carbs. Most docs do all liquid for maximum weight loss which shrinks the liver and the no carbs which shrinks the liver- so we got double shrinking power. But straight lean protein ie. tuna, chicken breast, is ok. In moderation. Nothing fried!

You are eating just right for you. If it makes you about throw up it it too much. Just make sure you get your protein in and take your vitamins

My mom just got me Truvia. I recommend it wholeheartedly. Splenda left an aftertaste and I don't care for sweet low. But this Truvia is so awesome. Just thought I share. Yes, you can have it

Who To Tell And Not Tell....
alliegb3 replied to kmoore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But my parents and my husband was ALL I told. I didn't tell work or friends or anything. I don't mind my decision, but I'm just not ready yet. The time will come though. -
Who To Tell And Not Tell....
alliegb3 replied to kmoore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Both my mom and I work at a hospital that specializes in bariatric surgery, so this was a little hard cause of what we see on the other side. But I was in the car with her and told her strait foward- mom, I'm thinking of getting the sleeve. My weight is --- and I need help. She agreed and said how can I help- lets do this -

I've got the same thing. The only protein I can drink is Unjury. And the only meal replacement I can drink is Chike (it's got 23 g of protein). And for another minus- I'm allergic to soy, so I gotta be extremely careful. Sometimes yogurt will help with the allergy as well. But you can't have that pre op.

Does Your Sleeve Have A Name?
alliegb3 replied to Back~To~Amy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Husband calls it the gastric banana, I call it my baby tummy -
Oh yes, I have wanted food... Real food. I'm just out of surgery n my husband stayed with me in the hospital and he ate biscuit n gravy and sausage right next to me. I could've shot him! But it's like I wasn't hungry but I wanted some. Then he had Arby's at supper and my strong will made it not bother me. So, it gets easier. No worries

I'm a HEAVY water drinker (my mom actually said my one gallon a day requirement would be me cutting back) I just had my surgery Monday 5/21 and I have found myself overly thirsty, but it works out ok. Just take a little at a time. I mostly ate ice chips (they lasted longer) it was great

Thanks for sharing!

I ordered Opurity from the same people who make Unjury protein. I think it tastes good (berry) and its only one a day. Kinda expensive, but worth it.
-
Don't worry it won't go to waste, you will still be drinking it in a few weeks when you can have PB, so just take lesson learned and wait til you can have it.

So I was sleeved yesterday n had a hiatal hernia fixed. I am on full liquid diet and was able to eat a whole thing of pudding. Is that normal/too much?
