I was banded on a Tuesday and told I could shower (facing away from the shower) on Thursday. Agree no baths for a month. -

I have 2 cats and a dog. I had to board my dog for a few days because I couldn't have walked her (she's over 50lbs and only 8 months old -- very rambunctious!) The cats were fine. I stayed 1 night in the hospital and then alone after that. Getting out of bed hurt, but it wasn't too bad. It felt like I did a million sit ups. -
What Is Your Experience With Taking Pills?

I had no problems taking pills, but I did speak to my doc specifically about them and got permission. I'd check with your doc. Also, I'm not sure we can take extended release meds with the band. Definitely another question for your doc. -

It's hard for me because I still forget sometimes, but now I have a drink before dinner. Then dinner I just enjoy what I am eating and trying to slow down (I'm a fast eater). 30 min after the meal I can drink again. It hadn't been too bad;just takes planning.

Everyone is built differently but I agree with the above poster. Try the glide that runners use.

On day 5 I was only able to eat. 2-3 oz of cottage cheese. I wasn't hungry at all. Hang in there. Keep sipping water do you don't get dehydrated. You will feel better soon. -

I stayed ahead of the pain with pain meds and also took gas x. It wasn't a bad recovery. -

I agree with Gigi. Talk to your doc. I know I had to stop taking any extended release meds. -

Swollen At Port Location?

Yes still a little swollen. I was banded 5/29 -
It wasnt too bad for me. I spent 1 night in hospital then went home. First day home I was uncomfortable, but totally manageable with pain meds, gas x and walking. The gas can be uncomfortable, but I never had the crazy shoulder pain that some get. The port area was sore for me, but not terrible-- it felt like I did 100 sit ups. Good luck.
