Forgot to mention in my earlier posts that I found out that along with my band I will have the plication done. Not all to sure about it other than they stitch some of my tummy around it to help secure the band more....does this sound right?

My surgery is May the 11th and I started an eating diet on May 1st and will start my liquids on Wed the 9th two days before surgery.

Was wondering what everyone has heard as far as 10 years out from surgery? I've read/heard some thing as far as needing to take the band out and if that happens the insurance doesnt cover it because it's elective surgery and it cost around 20 grand. Any thoughts/ideas on this?

Good evening!! Well I went to my post op doc visit today and then to the hospital for blood work which they had a hard time getting blood out of me.......all went well. My band is scheduled for May 11th, Dr Kent says it will probably be around 8am so that is good but will know for sure on Thursday. I lost 5 pounds from my first visit with the doc the end of March so I was pleased with that. Now to look toward the next thing....... LIQUIDS!!! I start that next Wed so wish me luck. Tam

I have UHC and didnt need to do the 6 months. I know that the teachers in my area had until the end of last year to have the surgery b/c UHC wasnt going to cover it anymore. A couple of teacher friends that had it done had to do the 6 months. I on the other hand did not.

I need some help in finding the right kind of vitamins for me. 1500 mg of citrate calcium ......multi vit with iron. Has to be chewable or liquid.......any advise please!!

Well I'm starting my 2 week diet today!! I worry about getting my water in since I don't drink it. But as I'm sitting here I'm drinking it so that is a start. I go to the doc on Thursday, so I dont know really what to expect there but we shall see. I have to start my liquids next Wed. that's two days before my surgery so that is great. I've read a lot of comments that some have to go 2 weeks or longer. Well y'all have a blessed day off to work I go.

Well here I am and very nervous and excited at the same time. I've been researching and praying for about a year now on what exactly to do. I have chosen the lap band because that's what's best for me. This is my first post of many!! I just found out friday that my insurance approved me and my surgery is scheduled for May 11th!!!!! Only 2 weeks wow!! I have to start my 2 week diet tomorrow and haven't decided on my shakes yet and need some suggestions please. A little bit about myself I'm 44, married with a son and live in Southeast Georgia!! I'm so looking forward to my band because it's the tool I've been needing and praying for.
