Hi maddysgam! Have an uncle in Vero Beach. Been there once I am an AZ Girl. Would love to do a bike trip through all the lower states. Thinking about doing Sturgis next year! When we're u banded?

Add one more to your group! Banded June 12. My biggest concern was when can I get back on my bike, and would it bother me when riding. Rode about a month after, everything was fine. Now just gotta work on the regular exercise part and then good to go! Where do you all live? Any good riding in your area? I am in AZ.

So good to see nurses on here, I felt like I was alone but not anymore!!!! I am the manager of surgery, I had surgery on a Tuesday in June this year, I went back to work that Friday!! I was slow moving. I didn't have a choice , I chose not to tell anyone at work due to unwanted opinions or talk. I am also a Pre-op and PACU nurse. So remembering not to overdo it is tough when your feeling good. I would love to have had at least through the weekend to rest, but couldn't. Still only 4 people know about my band. My husband, my boys and best friend and that is It!!! I definitely don't regret any of it. My advise, if you have the time, take it. Good luck to all of you!

How (And Where) Are The June Bandsters?
speekrn replied to sman342's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there! I was banded 6/12/12. Doing OK, I haven't had a fill yet and only down 16 lbs at first appt. I have appt this Thursday, hope to get a fill. Afraid my Dr will be disappointed this time. (My brain still thinks its hungry ) Think I just need a kickstart. Hope this next appt is the push I need. Any advise ? -
I am glad I read this too. I feel like I can eat normal. They tell you how much your stomach should be able to hold, but I know I can hold a lot more without ANY problems! Then I feel quilty about how much I ate. I go this week, hopefully I will get a fill. Last month Dr. Said I was doing good and wouldn't give me a fill, he will be disappointed this time. Thanks for the info! I wish I had a reset button for my brain!

How Long Out Of Work
speekrn replied to RIYAHSMOMMY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on what you do, I had mine on Tuesday and went back on Friday. Would have liked to wait until Monday but I didn't tell anyone about it so didnt have a choice. -
I had my surgery 6/12/12! So right there with you. I started walking the day after surgery, By week two I was walking about 2 1/2 miles a day. I too wrote everything down that I ate. Getting in about 900-1000 a day. The weight was coming off super slow down a pound up half a pound. Total of like 6! Ugh Couldn't understand why? I was eating less working out more so why so little? So I tried a little experiment . Did opposite of what I had done last two weeks. Did not walk for three days, did arm weights ( light) kept on same calorie intake and have lost another 4 1/2 lbs! So my theory, I was working off every calorie I consumed. Leaving my body to go into the mode of hang on to what you got, because your not keeping it fueled appropriately. Not to mention just changing up routine to jolt body into another mode. So today back to walking and this is also the last day of liquids for me. Tomorrow will be interesting. Just not sure what sounds appetizing or "safe"! I'm so used to yogurt cottage cheese and muscle milk! So I am curious myself to see how week 4 will go. Hoping I continue to lose, I am happy with 2 A week. Just hope my theory was right!:-) Good luck. I am in need of a buddy and you seem to be in the same boat as me, Keep in touch!

I was banded June 12 th. How are you both coming along? Any advice for a newbie?

I have hypothyroidism too. I can tell when doses are off. I am thinking its off now. Heart racing lately. I know the signs and symptoms of both hypo and hyper. Maybe this surgery jacks up hormones and changes occur. How long ago did you get banded?

You Don't Need Surgery...
speekrn replied to justathing2me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded a week ago. I only told my husband and bff. I didn't have to do a preop diet and I only made the cut by a BMI of 34. But like many of you I have lost and regained over and over. Also as for not telling people? I didn't want to be judged or told that "you have done it before just do it again"! Errr I called in sick on Tuesday and went to work on Friday. (must have been the flu) haha! I needed this. I'm still sore at the port, but otherwise doing better then expected. I think of this as a second chance and I am going to do my part while the band does its part! I still call it "IT" still haven't come up with a name for my new friend! Lol -

It sounds like you are to tight. I was banded 6/12/12 an post op day 3, I was in the office because I was having pressure with anything I drank/ate. I felt like just the ibuprofen that I would break in half felt like a lump stuck in my chest. My Dr. Said I had 3cc's in there! He took 1cc out and WOW what a difference! I still have "tight" days, but I to live in very hot/dry weather. I was also told if you fly you will feel tight. I will find out in July if that is true. Call your doc, they told me I should be more comfortable after "defill" and I did! Good luck.

Is This Really Working?
speekrn replied to Bamabander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded one week ago today. I feel really good for the most part. I was back at work on Friday out of feeling guilty. The morning of surgery I just called in sick on and told them I wasn't feeling good. I still have the nagging pain in my upper left shoulder/neck area. I have walked everyday since surgery anywhere from 1/2 mile to 2 miles , so far so good!
