Sorry, for offering an alternative opinion and procedure to individuals that may not be able to afford the actual surgical procedure, or individuals that do not want to take the life risk under the knife, or those individuals that need other issues addressed that might be affecting their weight loss as 92% of them have. It's not advertising , it's offering a suggestion. Does this "suggestion" pose a threat to surgeons where the outcome can be as positive but less risky? A suggestion that others can see failures as well as successes. Is your "suggestion/advise" any different then this, "Dr. Weaver offers specials under $9,000. Just joined maybe a week ago and found this forum from NJ...so hello! Looking to follow the group, ask questions and hopefully get some replies. If I can offer some advice, just ask, weight loss is more then losing weight, it's the problems and issues that make weight loss slower and needs to be addressed in the subconscious mind.

Have you looked at an alternate type such as "Virtual Lap Band Surgery"? The cost is so much lower, no side effects, and to date a more successful rate in losing weight, anywhere from 86 to 97% compared to the actual surgery. Plus this type when used with a certified counselor you will benefit from sessions that deal with the issues that are associated with weight gain, without that there is much more of a failure rate. Rates of 20lbs. a month is not unusual. Google and see yourself.

Kathie, if you had a bad experience with the gas years ago, apparently your concerned about it now. Because of this your sub conscious mind will drag this up into your conscious mind and again it will be difficult going under. I would suggest seeing a hypnotherapist and have a couple of sessions one for the stress of going under along with relaxation techniques, and to Learn self hypnosis where you can visualize the procedure to overcome your fear. Just so you know, in the medical field you can have surgery without anesthesia, but would need a number of sessions to be comfortable with it. Just to give you some facts, it is used in the OR by a qualified hypnotherapist and even in the dental office for root canal, etc. In fact, hypnosis has been used to control bleeding, and in emergent situations at disaster scenes. Talk to a qualified hypnotherapist, go online, you can find a directory of who might be in your area. I have had much success with clients who use hypnosis to overcome this fear.
