What Made You Decide To Get A Sleeve Vs Bypass?
Teriiann replied to sweetie022972's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Still per surgery but all of the above!!! I have tried it all, I am 49 and tired of being fat, I keep saying let me try again on another way only to fail and gain it back plus some. I've had enough so I'm going for the sleeve!!! If everyone else can manage so can I...... Wish you luck in your decision -
I'm just as scared as you. Not sure why I have had several surgeries. With any surgery there is risk, I'm thinking it's my love for food. The food will not win !!!! I want my health and my life back I feel horrible in how I am now. Everything is high, I have been on depression meds, high BP and now I am borderline for cholesterol and diabetes. I'm tired of feeling this way. It's time for me I am 49 and misserible! You can do this!!!!! Huggs

So, I have been lurking around here for a while.......Reading up on as much info as possible. Back when I was gun ho about getting the sleeve done my insurance did not cover the sleeve only the gastric bypass, which I did not want. I have recently begun to look into the sleeve again. We are less than 6 month away from revising our insurance plan. We keep the same insurance but we are able to choose different plans to fit our needs. I had talked with my hubby to change it to the best plan for where they will pay 100% on most. The plan I have now I had to come up with 6000 dollars which was impossible. The good news is I just got off the phone with my surgeons office and she looked into my insurance cause sometimes they will change it. They changed it!!! They now cover the sleeve, I am so darn excited!!!! Scared at the same time.... So I will start my 6 months of Nut visits this month do my phyc evaluation and some blood work. I do have 5 years back of my bmi being high, high blood pressure, in the gray for my cholestrol, joint pain, back pain, blah blah..........all that stuff with carrying around a extra 100 pds plus. I am so happy they cover it, but yet at the same time its scary that it might actually happen, considering all things with our finaces work out. Yea!!! :)

Looking For People Who Have At Least Two Years Out..regrets?
Teriiann replied to MrsM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Me too, I have been searching for others who are 2 plus years out. I have been lurking around here for a while now. I really checked into it a while back, but my insurance will only pay for the gastric bypass and that I do not want. I think the sleeve is a much better choice for me and my doctor agrees. I thought I would wait till our insurance rolls around again so that I can change my plan to 100% paid and only paying very little in copays, and see if they changed it and is allowing the sleeve to be covered, if not then I'll just write a letter explaining why I think its best and cross my fingers they approve. Its nice to see that someone else is searching for the same thing. I think about this everyday, I could actually say I am obbessed with it, but yet at the same time I am so affraid of having it done. -
I just joined this group, my name is Teri I am 49 and have not had surgery yet. Came here to read and learn all that I can. I hope to have it in 2013. Any info would be great. My doctor will be dr valentine

Does anyone have this insurance? They do not cover the sleeve for me, I was wondering if anyone has this, If so I'd like to know if you fought and tried to get them to cover the sleeve? I would hate to follow through with all my visits only to be denied. They do cover the gastric bypass but I don't want my insides moved around. Any thoughts or advice?? Thank you, Teri
