My surgery was Feb 21st, 2012 and would love to chat with anyone curious about my experience or would like to give support. I have not had a ton support from some of my family members and it would be nice to have friends going through what I have.

honey is also harder for your body to digest. My dr told me not to use it at all. I use stevia, it is a sugar based product, has a better flavor than others in my opinion. I replaced all the sugar in my house with stevia and oddly my kids like it better.

my best word of advice I can give you is go and buy some small plastic twist top containers at the grocery store. I have about 30 of these floating around in my cupboards, in the freezer, in the dishwasher. If you make something on the stove, more than likely you wont be able to make just a few ounces-the little containers are perfect for a meal. Put a little bit of your mashed taters in the bottom then your Protein on the top. Oh and one thing my dietician taught me before surgery-eat with baby spoons at first!! sounds silly and my kids thought it was histerical but seriously, you dont want to take too big of bites at the beginning because you will be swollen. it also kindof teaches you to eat slower. I had my surgery through Kaiser Permanente and I had to go through some classes before I could have surgery. I even have a book I still refer to on what I can eat. All of the things I now I didn't start eating until about 6 weeks post op.

ok so now I am 68 days post op, and I am glad I am 39 and not 67! as for what I am eating, it isn't much still but I am totally satisfied with what I am eating. I am not much of a morning person so I usually have a protein shake in the morning-GNC has a yummy one that is called lean 25 that I really like. It doesn't have that heavy whey taste to it so I really like it. Then for lunch I eat all kinds of different things. I sometimes make a lean hamburger (I get 96% lean), eat it with a little bit of pickle and some fat free thousand island dressing-I call it a big mock! its like a big mac, I feel like Im cheating but its all stuff I can eat-I do cut the skin off the pickles though so its just the soft middle but it still has the crunch. Also when I make spaghetti and meatballs for my family I usually pack up some of the meatballs in a little bit of sauce and that is a meal too. I buy the frozen turkey meatballs at the store-super yum!!! sometimes I have that for dinner and lunch! hahahaha Another thing I do (which my dietician didn't like at first) is I go to fast food restaurants and find food on their menu that I can eat. At Taco Bell you can get a side of chicken for about $1.20 and grab some sauce to dip the pieces in. I love that! Also pintos and cheese but tell them not to put too much cheese on it. You can sauce that one up too. At Jack in the box their grilled chicken fingers are great too, enough for a few meals too. At subway, you can get meatballs for a 6 inch sub with 1 piece of cheese, oregano, salt and pepper. If I made pot roast for the family I will bring a little bit of that to work with some of the mashed taters. Another thing I like to make is a hamburger with creamy guacamole-I mix an avacado with salsa I have put in a blender. the guac is great on just some turkey lunchmeat rolled up too! If you are an egg person you can make a super simple omelet in the microwave. Get some eggwhite egg beaters, put in one packet of taco sauce from taco bell or a litle bit of blender salsa, throw it in the microwave for about a minute. Oh and if you like fish, VandeCamps has some amazing fish fillets that you bake in the oven in a parchment paper envelope!! That over a little bit of instant mashed potatoes is amazing!!!!!!!!! I eat shrimp too, gortons has shrimp scampi that is frozen with the sauce on it already. Cook as many or as few as you want and you can have it over taters too. I tried brown rice once and I dreaded it-felt way too full too fast and its just wasted calories, not to mention rice expands in your sleeve and hurts!!!!!!!

I had my sleeve Feb 21st. 2012. and am pretty happy so far. I work for Kaiser who has support groups but my work schedule doesn't allow me to go at this time. I am hoping to go sometime soon though. In the mean time, I am looking for support and friends on here. -
I am not in Colorado Springs but a Denver suburb. I am 67 post-op. Let me know if you would like to chat
