Vertical Sleeve Operation Video And Discussion
Missileer replied to Missileer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish i would have seen it before my surgery. My wife struggled following her surgery, as she was very sore around the incision where they removed the stomach. Mine was a piece of cake, and now I understand that they probably had to really yank her's out. I'm glad you liked the video, as I it was very informative and interesting to watch. -

I was only too glad to share it. It certainly was interesting from my perspective too, as I now understand what and how it was done. -

My wife sent me this video that will be most helpful for you. It not only explains what will happen, but also an actual video of the operation and discussion by the doctors. http://www.orlive.com/halifaxhealth/videos/weighing-the-options-gastric-sleeve-surgery?view=displayPageNLM -

I Need The Straight Skinny -Help

You look great at five months, the rest is easy. I hope to get down to 200, which means another 56 pounds to go. I keep working out and break through each plateau. -
I Need The Straight Skinny -Help

Each person is different. I'm at five months in four days, and I've lost 88 pounds. My wife is a month behind me and she has lost 39 pounds. Women are slower than men, and each person is unique. There are platteaus that all of us fight with, but the weight still comes off in the end. -
2.5 Months Post Op Nausea?
Missileer replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand the situation well. I can eat a couple of ounces of one thing and not feel nauseous, but the next time it will cause problems. Its a hit or miss thing for me. -
2.5 Months Post Op Nausea?
Missileer replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was taking Prilosec but have since stopped that. Its a mistake to get used to that. I now take Betaine HCL, which is a mild form of hydrochorlic acid. The problem isn't too much acid, its that there is not enough of it. The acid pumps have been removed and thereby reducing the amount the stomach can digest. The Betaine is starting to work, but I have to be careful due to the damage of my esophagus from the vomiting. -
I'm 55 and nearly 4 months post op. I'm down 75 pounds today and three sizes of clothes. I'm almost ready for another new belt. The current one is on it's last notch (may have to punch another hole in it first). The skin is not sagging anywhere and it appears to be gradually shrinking back into place.

2.5 Months Post Op Nausea?
Missileer replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear about the nausea, but I had/have the same problem after four months. The nurses keep telling me to chew my food better, but that isn't the problem. The foods they tell me to eat, I can't. The foods I can tolerate are more carbs and that is bad for me. My wife has had nearly zero nausea since her surgery and mine has been rampant. Each week it's a little better, but there is still problems. I hope it gets better for both of us. -
Today I have reached my third milestone in weight loss. 75 pounds down after four months! I'm over halfway and only 63.5 pounds to go.

I thought pasta was off the menu due to it's lack of protein? I realize Minestrone soup is more than just pasta, but it does have a fair share of it.

Five Weeks Since The Sleeve And Heartburn Hell

Thank you for your suggestions. I was able to sleep the entire night in bed last night, and didn't wake up once. I think I'm getting past it. I'm okay with prilosec using the suggestion of another lady of taking it with Peanut Butter. I can't explain why it works, but it does. I'm down 41#'s today and thrilled. I can't wait to change my profile pic. -

Thank you both. I am getting horribly nautious from the Prilosec, but when I told the bariatrician she blew me off. She told me it was in my head! The doctor recommended Zantac 30 minutes before meals and that has been a blessing. He still requires me to take the Prilosec, but with you're advice, I will take it with peanut butter.
