LAST on, FIRST off....? Please give me hope!
Denise replied to NanaRenan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My arms and legs are taking their own sweet time getting smaller. But what is really weird is that my left arm is bigger than my right----which sucks because it is keeping me wearing fitted women's large shirts (instead of XL or 1Xs) I was feeling pretty deformed until someone told me that because I am not left handed I am not working that arm as much and therefore it is delayed behind the right one----yep, what I have always wanted to be in a freak show (sorry, having a little pity party for one :faint:) -
Crabcakes tend to have lots of breading--be careful they tend to be hard on a new band--especially if you are still healing. And crab tends to be quite dense. When I was in my mushie stage and I went out to eat for the first time (Papadeuxs Seafood) I ordered a fillet of seabass and had a couple of bites of baked potato. Of course I had a take home box--which became the first of many...and many...and many he he

Hey Juli! Well......yep one more pound to half way to my goal of 180. the BMI chart says that I should be around 160---but we will see. How you doing friend! Going back to school tomorrow for meetings! And the kids come back on the 27th! I am actually looking forward to it

You might need another fill--but go conservative. You may not be losing pounds..but you are losing inches. Muscle does weigh more than fat and your body many just be readjusting everything.

I will be honest with you, I do not count calories. I just make sure that I have three meals a day and snack on healthy foods. I don't deny myself any foods--I just eat obviously smaller amounts. I don't drink protein drinks at all--really never have. That is just a personal decision--they don't make me fill full and I believe that they are highly caloric. But I make sure that I have nonfat lattes everyday (it is where I get my milk in ) I normally work out 3 to 4 days a week--though this week I have not gotten to the gym. I have had many plateaus--and I don't lose every week. I just know that when I hit a plateau I need to get my exercise in a little more. Take Care

After the first fill of 1cc and then two after that at .6 --my doctor does very conservative fills of only .2 each time. You may want to go up only .2. I know that it doesn't seem a lot, but a gradual increase (at least for me) is better than being too tight and eating only easy high caloric foods. Denise

You are too tight friend! You are in danger of irritating your esophagus. Please get a slight unfill. Denise

Hey Juli! How cute are you!!!! I am envious that you got to go to Cape Cod! I am sure it was awesome!! Denise

Will I still be able to eat salads??
Denise replied to Sooverit!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a small band ( 4cc) and I am filled 2.2 cc and I eat salads!! I just had a great chop salad (with yummy grilled chicken) at Grand Luxe in Dallas--so good to my tummy! He He But as a previous post stated...everyone is different--you have to try with caution many different foods and see what works for you Take Care!!! Denise -
Hey Carol! I am up for the challenge! No junk food for the month of August!!!!! Denise :faint:

Hey Everyone!!! Been gone for last week on an AP Science Conference in San Antonio Texas---some might think that would be fun----but you would be wrong!! I stayed in a dorm apartment at UTSA with my BF with now tv and very limited internet access---in fact it would kick me off every five minutes so I just gave up. Did pretty well on my weight--no weight gain, but no weight lost---aargh yet another plateau! Congrats Juli on the Tour de France challenge! I tried to get my ticker to update ---but alas no---I did not make the challenge-it has been raining so much here in Dallas and I tried to ride in San Antonio but it was raining everyday I was there--so I only did 75 miles of the 220--but I did do many workouts at the gym ( so that has to account for something ) Momlambert! Congrats on the babies!!! demsvmejm If you want to do a while you were out at my house I leave a key he he!! Tammy, Kethrya, Carol stay strong sisters!!! Got two weeks left of summer--:faint:

Are you taking a multi-vitamin? I also heard (or maybe read) that Biotin is good. D
-
Yes, I believe that is is helping me. But I also have changed my shampoo and conditioner. Also, I let the conditioner stay on my hair for awhile after getting out of the shower then I rinse it out. Also, I make sure that I always get my protein in--but I do not drink the Protein shakes. Denise

Hey Girl, I am doing the whole growing the hair thing too! My hair is so long right now--so pony tails are my best friend! I am losing major volume too! I am so glad that I started off we really thick hair! If you can't find the protein spray--you can find it online from Sephora.com Take care chica! Denise

Hi Khanson, I have had hair lost too--I found out from my lap band coordinator (the nurse at the doctor's office) that this is very normal especially at about 4months out from surgery. What I have done is make sure that I am getting enough Protein and using Hempz brand hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Also, I got the protein spray from Sephora to spray on my hair (Oprah talked about it on her show) it is called Fekkai Protein Rx. Good Luck and welcome to the Marchies!

Hi Carol----hmmm head hunger----I will have to piggyback on what Juli said ( :biggrin1: ) I normally don't snack--only 3 meals a day (sometimes not even breakfast--latte to me!) I get major head hunger around 4pm--and what helps me is either a nice nonfat ice latte--or some whole grain multi seed crackers---or some soy crisps (lots of protein) It tends to help! Guns and Roses and Sugarbear! Welcome back!!!!!!!!!!!!
-

When you are at your sweet spot, how much do you eat?
Denise replied to susansilver's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Please remember that everyone is different. Don't ever want a fill that makes you so tight that you are not eating healthy--meat, grains, vegs...only being able to eat things that go down easy. I think your meal plan is great. If you look around the board you'll see that experience bandsters like Jachut in Au eat a very well balanced and full diet. We not only want to lose weight, but keep it off. Denise
