Hello all, I think the last time I posted I was really down in the dumps as I was having a lot of post op health issues. My latest update is that I am 56lbs off (4 stone for those who work in stones) and feel amazing. My confidence and mojo are back! I still have a long way to go, but I am so proud of my achievements so far. This operation was the best thing I ever did and for all the problems I have had it was still worth it x 10.

I am getting a little bored of walking (there isn't any interesting walks near where I live). I would love to go for a swim to release some energy. Did your surgeons advise how long post op before you could go swimming? Although my incisions are healing nicely the last thing I want is an infection.

Not Being Able To Sleep
suzilouise replied to wallman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had problems sleeping for about 6 weeks. The doctor ended up prescriping me Temazan. After a couple of weeks on that it worked a treat. I now sleep like a baby most nights. Good luck, it will pass. -
Has Anyonen Ever Failed With The Sleeve?
suzilouise replied to Chills562's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am the same. I always drank and ate at the same time prior to surgery, but I just can't do it now. I have to wait at least 30 mins and sometimes up to an hour If I eat out I will ask for a glass of tap Water as people think its very odd not to order a drink with a meal and then I will leave it untouched. -
Reading Everyone's Comments
suzilouise replied to VitaleEM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My op was on 6/26. I posted yesterday as I was feeling very sorry for myself with quite a few post op issues. I got some lovely comments on the thread, some private messages and I met some friends in the afternoon which really cheered me up. I have had a good think to myself on how to turn all this into a positive. I have lost 34lbs which seems to be a lot less than some, but I know I would never have the motivation to do it myself and at the end of the day that's a great weight loss. I am going to join the gym after work tonight and stop feeling sorry for myself and take some control. I have been given the privilege of being allowed this op and I am going to make the most of it. Good luck in whatever you decide. -
How Did You Feel The Day Of Surgery?
suzilouise replied to fallingwhisper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in for 2 nights. I probably could have got out after one but I had a raised temperature and they were sure I was getting a chest infection - which I wasn't, but better to be safe then sorry. After the op I had a cycle of sleeping for 2-4 hours then walking then more pain meds then back to sleep. I think I needed the first night in there and I was glad to have the medical staff around. It's a major op and you need plenty of rest. Good luck. -
Try peppermint tea, it's great for gas/sore stomachs. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

12 Weeks Out With Pics
suzilouise replied to mrsski21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. You look amazing. Well done :-) -
I am having a torrid time since my surgery on June 26th and have never felt so ill. I have had shingles (twice), piles, constipation, acid reflux like you wouldn't believe and I have got to the stage where I can't face food. This surgery is not done often in the UK and I haven't told many people I have had the surgery, so I feel quite alone and don't have people I can discuss these issues with. Maybe I am just having a bad day :-(
-
Hi, no we don't get shots for shingles in the UK just a 5 day course of tablets. I am on day 2, so they should hopefully start clearing up soon :-)
-
Again, thanks for the hugs and advise. I will take it all on board. These forums are great for advise and support. I thought after my initial post that I could sit down and feel sorry for myself or give myself a good kick and go and cheer myself up :-)

Thanks people, it's much appreciated. I do take multi-Vitamins daily, but I think the colonic irrigation is a great idea - thank you. I think my body has not taken well to the surgery and has left me feeling run down and therefore open to getting these things. On the brightside I have lost 36 pounds, the sun is shining and I am going to put a nice dress on and meet friends for a cuppa this afternoon :-) Thank you so much xxx

Sleeved June 26th started at 276lbs and have lost 36lbs. My personal target is to lose another 135lbs. Slow progress, but progress all the same :-)

Bristol sleeved here. There doesn't seem a lot of UK sleevers about. I was sleeved on 26th June. Down 2 stone 6 lbs.

Acid Reflux.... Will It Get Better
suzilouise replied to Seemebetter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a little bit of acid reflux before the op, but now I am really suffering from it. They have increased my dosage of Omeprazole which is starting to work. But I am barely eating now. Some days I don't eat at all as I know I will be sick. Whatever you do, don't drink wine! -
Bathroom Issues
suzilouise replied to Elinjacksmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am nearly 8 weeks out and have had constipation for a few weeks now. So much so I now have a haemaroids. The doc has prescribed me 2 sachets of stool softener a day plus Senakot (I am not sure if you get that over in the States). My dietician from the hospital had already written to my doc to say that I could well suffer from this so it seems a common side affect. I hope you get some relief soon x -
When I was given water in hospital after my op it was given to me with a straw. I have not had any problems drinking with a straw since.

Driving After Surgery
suzilouise replied to weight_no_longer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was about 19 days but should have waited for 21 days due to my car insurance not being valid until 3 weeks post op. The problem is not driving, I could have probably driven after about 8 days, it's having the stomach muscles to perform an emergency stop. But that's UK car insurance, it could well be different over there. -
I had a couple of glasses of wine last week - 6 1/2 weeks post op. although no problem that evening I suffered from the worst acid reflux for the next 2 days. The day after I was in pain, sick twice and couldn't face any food. I won't be trying it again for a while!

I have the same problem - 7 weeks post op. I am taking sachets given to me by the doctor and syrup of fig, but nothing seems to be happening.

Before And After Pics

Well done, you are doing a great job. What a difference in your face especially, gorgeous x -
My weight loss is very slow too. I have lost 21lbs in 7 weeks including my pre op diet and am kind of losing interest with it all. I was weighing myself every day but haven't done so for about 4 days now. Everyone else seems to be doing so well, I don't like being the slow one :-(

Link To June 2012 Sleevers Fb Page
suzilouise replied to robin33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The link never worked for me, but I sent a friends request - Suzie MacDonald. Thanks -
Another slow loser here. I am 5 weeks post surgery and have lost approx 20lbs. But this includes a stall and then a 5lb drop in 2 days. To be honest, although I wish was having amazing weight loss like some others I see posting I am just happy it's coming off, even though no one has noticed. I now walk about 4 miles most days but the weight just doesn't drop off. But I have no back pain which I was getting walking to the end of the road pre op. I also have had no hair loss issues, when did this problem start with other people? I am still delighted I had this op and look forward to the next lb off. Congratulations to everyone on their weight loss :-)

5 Days Out, Terrible Insonmnia
suzilouise replied to KikiCC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got something from the pharmacy to help and things soon change once I could lie on my stomach. But I still have sleeping issues. I can get to sleep no problem but am wide awake a few hours later. I am sure it will sort itself out soon. Good luck x
