  1. This will probably go against everything our surgeons and NUTs tell us, but my Psychiatrist told me that when our bodies are really lagging, carbs are beneficial. She was VERY clear that this doesn't mean donuts or fried foods, but a little baked potato with Molly McButter or some fat free refried beans with a little bit of cheese. She is a D.O. and she reviewed my recommendations. She agreed with everything, but continued to point out that our brains need energy to process information and that energy comes from carbs. She also recommended fruit juice popcicles at 35 cal ea. I started to add a little more carbs in my diet and now I feel better. Don't be afraid of the word CARB--it doesn't mean what it used to to us now. :)
