  1. That is very normal (to me anyway)...I went through the same feelings. Remember that the more weight you loose, the more estrogen gets released into your body (estrogen is stored in fat cells and as you loose weight the estrogen gets released too). That has A LOT to do with how you feel right now....also, food was a major part of your life...so now that you don't have that comfort, it hurts...badly!!! This will pass, I promise. I didn't think anyone was going to be able to understand me, and how I felt, and when I came on here I realized I wasn't alone. Just keep in mind why you did this, and you WILL feel normal again!!! Give it time.

    Good And Bad News Today!

Don't give up!! I had a lot of issues with insurance as well, but I didn't give up and I ended up getting the surgery in March. Keep moving forward!!

    Nosey Rosies

I felt the same way! I'm very private and was considering not even telling my parents. I really thought it was something that only my husband and I needed to know. However, after thinking about it I decided to tell my mom and dad...they were surprisingly supportive. Then, after the surgery, I really didn't care who knew anymore. It was almost like I wanted to avoid the initial judgement..and then once I had the surgery it didn't matter anymore. You may not feel the same way, but keep that in mind

    I Messed Up

You'll be fine I ate a couple chips only 2 weeks out and I'm still lossing weight. You don't have to totally deprive yourself of "bad" food.. because your always going to want it. Just don't eat it on a regular basis, but give yourself some room to mess up. Your not perfect!! And, just think....before the surgery you probably would have eaten the whole bag, right? I know I would have...and now I can only eat like 10 at a time. I'm pretty happy with that

    Hey From Milwaukee

I got the centrum chewables but they made me so nauseas!! They taste like chalk and dirt lol. I just have an adult gummy vitamin from an organic store. My doctor was fine with that and they seem to be working fine

    Nsaids

I took ib profen a few days before surgery. As long as you didn't take it for a long period of time, I'm sure your fine.
  8. I agree, if your having stomach pains don't rush into the solid food. I still get an "uncomfortable feeling" when I eat too much or too fast...so I understand how that feels!!

tablespoon of peanut butter is perfect for me...but if you don't like peanut butter get anything sugar free

    Pissed Off And Frustrated

All the posts above are correct. Stalls are very normal around 2-3 weeks, and they can last for about 2-3 weeks. I know its frustrating, but don't worry. The weight will come off as long as your doing what your supposed to do!!
  12. That is totally normal! Yes, you will feel normal again. I went through those feelings and every day gets easier!
  13. The only protein shake I can handle is the Oh Yeah! Protein shakes. And, the chocolate one is too heavy and thick for me, so I only get either the vanilla or cookies and cream (they also have a banana creme but I haven't tried it). I had the same problem..I was always nauseas and couldn't get the protien down. Eventually it gets easier...

    Average Wait On Bcbs?

It wasn't a pain like I thought it would be. I did all the required work-up stuff (blood work, physical, ect..) and they approved it in 2 days with no questions asked.

Not Sure If I Should Worry

I haven't had anything like that happen, but i don't think it sounds normal at all. You should call your doctor and just check. Better safe than sorry!

How Long Does A Stall Last

your not that far out, so give it some time. I had a really hard recovery and ended up loosing 25lbs in 2 weeks...I stalled after that for almost 3 weeks. So, yes, thats completely normal. Before long the weight will start to fall off!!

    Pre-Op Diet

My doctor didn't put me on any pre-op diet either. Just the day before surgery I was told to only drink liquids. I preferred it that way because even just the ONE day I had to be on a liquid diet before surgery it was HORRIBLE!!! LOL You know what is best for you, but in all honesty, your not going to want to eat anything after surgery, so why torture yourself for a week before surgery? Thats just my opinion

    No Appetite

I get the Oh Yeah! protein shakes already made in bottles. A case of them (12 shakes) is $40 @ GNC, but sometimes you can find places that will have them cheaper. A physician assisted weight loss clinic that is in my town has the case for $35...they can be expensive, but it replaces 1-2 meals a day for me...so I just look at it like that

    No Appetite

Hi Smileygirl. I just came on here to post almost the same exact comment you had. I was sleeved on 3/26 and when I was just before and just after a month out, food tasted good...but it seems like the past week - two weeks nothing tastes good to me. I still get hungry - but as soon as I sit down to eat something, I have no appetite for it and if I do eat it, it doesn't taste good. I get about 3 bites in before I'm done. I use the Oh Yeah! Protein shakes. I have one in the morning for breakfast and try to supplement the rest of the protein in with fish or chicken. I think I am getting about 50-60 grams of protein in a day. Make sure you try your hardest to get the amount in because it can prevent your hair falling out, which I have heard usually happens around month 3. Do you use protein shakes at all?

    Icecream

I ate ice cream a couple weeks out also. I don't think its a huge deal because you won't be able to eat all that much of it anyway... I thought since it was a liquid I would be able to eat too much, but found out quickly that my sleeve didn't like all the coldness.

I Think I've Began To Mourn Food :(

I'm sorry your going through that, I know exactly how you feel and I wouldn't wish that feeling on my worst enemy. After surgery my hormones were going crazy too! I know this sounds weird..and it may not help you at all...but I got through a lot of my food mourning by watching the food channel on TV. Yes, I couldn't have the food...but I would watch Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, chopped...and all the cooking shows. For some reason, that helped me LOL Now, I hardly watch them at all and I think thats how I know the mourning stage has passed... You WILL be normal again, I promise

    Post Op 3 1/2 Weeks

A week after surgery I had diareah. I didn't have nausea or dry heaving, but my doctor said the same thing "probably caught a stomach bug". I felt terrible - and I had a very hard recovery... They are probably right, and it may set you back a little bit during your recovery, but I'm sure you'll be fine. Hope this helps

    Average Wait On Bcbs?

BCBS NC is really quick...approved in 2 days. I don't know much about insurance so I'm not sure if that helps at all. Hope your approval happens quickly!!!

I Think I've Began To Mourn Food :(

Let me just tell you that I mourned food so badly that I kept my kids potato chip bags just to smell them. It was the most horrible thing I have EVER experienced...and I've been through some bad stuff!!!! But, I also want to tell you that it gets so much better...day by day. After my surgery I kept thinking "will I ever NOT regret this?" Unlike you, I had a terrible recovery! I stayed in the hospital for a week because my heart rate would not go up...I couldn't get ANYTHING down for almost 2 weeks. In those 2 weeks I lost 20 lbs, and I thought that would make me feel better but I only wanted to reverse time and stay fat! I just wanted to be NORMAL....thats all I kept saying to everyone...I feel like I'll never be normal again! Believe me, you will be! I'm still only 2 months out and I feel more and more normal with every day that goes by. I no longer regret the surgery.... What your experiencing is the withdrawl, because I totally believe that food is our addiction. This will go away, I promise you - and this is coming from a person who prayed to God to rewind my life so I could change my mind about the surgery. Today I can totally say it was the best decision. My husband and I went out a couple weeks ago to a gourmet deli. I got a roast beef sandwhich and I ate the WHOLE thing....it took me 5 hours LOL But, I'm still loosing weight because, besides a protein shake, that was the only thing I ate that day. I think that how you feel (craving to stuff your face with food) will go away soon. Just be patient and remember that you did this for a reason..and you aren't alone!

    Proud Of Myself

GOOD JOB!!! Its so funny how our choices change after a big surgery like this! I also noticed that, even shortly after the surgery, I had terrible food cravings..but when you get used to eating better...the addiction goes away
