Hey hopin4slv,
I arranged everything myself. I couldn't do it privately in Edmonton, so I would've had to travel anyway, so I opted for Dr. Aceves as he is way more experienced than any surgeons in my area when it comes to the sleeve. The cost at the time was $8750 + flight. I also had to buy Nexium for the first 3 months after surgery (I got it here, except for my stupid pharma insurance didn't cover it!). All other things were covered.
I believe the $8750 was a promo price - it was very slow when I got my surgery done, Dr. Aceves does up to 3 surgeries a day, and the day of my surgery was the only day out of the 3 I stayed that he had 3 patients. I believe the regular price is $9500, but the promo might still be on.
I don't have any reservations about the care I received, so I'd definitely recommend looking at Dr. Aceves if you are thinking of going abroad.

Hi! I live in Saskatchewan & was wondering if you arranged things for your surgery by yourself? I'm just wondering if the cost was less than going thru Weight Loss Forever in Saskatoon? They charge $9000 & I'd have to pay my flights unless I upgrade to a different package.
Thanks, & glad you're doing well!

I know what you mean. I never mentioned to hubby cuz I figured if I wasn't approved than there'd be no point. I asked him his opinion last night, said I didn't want to hear 'you don't need it' or other stuff, just what he'd think if I wanted to do it. All he said was 'we can't really afford it'. I told him that I knew that but what I've spent over the last 20 years probably cost that much & I don't want to spend the next 20 trying every pill & crap that comes out to try to lose my weight. My mom, aunts, grandma...are all overweight & I look at them & think there's no way I want to be feeling like this when I'm their age. I'm turning 40 (eek!!!!) this year & it's time to do something permanent.
I emailed Caralee but haven't heard anything. If I go ahead, I'll do the credit line thing as well. That'd be cool if there were a few of us from WLF at the same time. Did they give you a price with a facilitator going?

Hey girl... my financing was approved and i set a date and Im just waiting on DrP to give it the go ahead.... so technically the date isnt set in stone but I was told that the 1st would be my date ... im nervous because once i get the 100% go ahead ... i dont know what to do next lol... flights will be from ontario ... ugh.. im feeling how ur feeling when it comes to not knowing where to go from there lol.... but i do know that I am doing this no matter what!!... My husband knows and is 100% behind me... we are using the medicard but the interest rate is high so we are also taking out a line of credit to off set the medicard loan... we have planned it out so that after 2 years it will be paid off... im scared about the financial cost but i know its definitely worth it!

Hey, did I see you say that you have a date? I finally got an email from Caralee at WLF & she said I'm approved. What do I do now? I replied to her but since it's the long weekend I haven't heard and am curious. All she said was that I was 100% approved. Do they send information, do I call the clinic to book? Arg, as soon as I read it I had the "maybe I shouldn't, I don't really have the money & should just do it myself!'. Now that I've been okay'd, I'm gonna talk to my hubby & tell him about the surgery & that I really want to have it. I haven't mentioned it because I thought if I don't get approved it won't matter.
