Those are great ideas! I think I will try and find a little timer. I suck at keeping track of time.

I went to a local fair today and decided, what the heck, my son and I will share a small snow cone. Worst idea ever! The sugar made me feel barfy and gave me bubble guts. Damn you tasty sno cone!

I'm 3 weeks post op and every time I stand up I get woozy/ dizzy. I'm drinking enough, getting my protein and I'm off my pain meds. It's strange that it started just yesterday. Anybody with a similiar story?
-
I tried some cottage cheese yesterday and ever since I've had this "full feeling" just sitting in my belly and I've been really burpy. Has anyone else had this? Ways to rectify it?
-
Oops I forgot that part. I'm three weeks post op. no gas or diarrhea. Just more of a rock sitting in my tummy. It's like I ate a roach coach burrito instead of cottage cheese.
-
Oh I did! It was awful! I kept on my pain meds and walked a little every few hours. Trust me it will get better. Just think of how awesome you will feel after the weight comes off. I'm now three weeks post op and down about 30 lbs. I don't regret it one bit ( although I did doubt it when I was in your shoes).
-
Apparently neither can I! ; )
-
Awwww no booze? Sad face.
-
I tried cottage cheese today ( I admit, I didn't purée it) and now I feel like poop.
-
I can't really stomach (mentally) puréed diet. So I've been doing mainly the protein drinks and occasional eggface recipes.
-
You'll be fine! The worst is the anticipation! Soon you'll be on the path to a new future! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!
-
Eggface is great! Thanks everyone!

I hear ya! At first it was really hard to cook tasty things for son and husband. But once the weight started coming off I realized I'd rather not eat the same things as my family than not be able to enjoy family adventures because of my weight. What I also did is buy a pretty tablecloth, a pretty vase and pretty wine glasses. Then I drink my protein drink out of a nice glass and sit with my family at a beautiful table and make chit chat. You will survive this. Good luck!

I'm so lost! My Dr said to take in 1500 calories a day and my RN is saying 600. I'm almost three weeks out. Input please!
-
Two weeks?! That's nowhere near enough. I'm two weeks post op and still on pain meds. There's no way I could function.

Everyone keeps bringing up egg face. I'm going to check it out right now! Thanks for all the tips and support!

Hello all! I work as an EMT in a very busy chaotic 911 system. So lots of bending moving twisting. My Dr swears all I need is 4 weeks off. That seems like such a short time based on my job. I'd like to hear how much time people got off and if they had any complications after going back too soon. Thanks in advance!

Going Back To Work
mrsflyboybs replied to mrsflyboybs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like I may get more time off they may have to take my gall bladder out too. And military medicine being military medicine I won't get my gall bladder ultrasound until mid may. And gosh knows when they will take it out. So looks like more time off. Oy. -
My thinks it may be my gall bladder due to how the pain has presented itself. Yay. Another surgery.
-
I had heard they were going to change it. I was grandfathered in since I had been in the program for months. I know a girl who can't even get a dr appt because she gained 2 lbs. so she gave up on the surgery altogether.

Going Back To Work

Update! My new dr was flabbergasted that my old dr wanted to send me back to work after 4 weeks so he gave me two more weeks off! Whew! What a relief! -
Why Is The Pain Getting Worse?

Thanks for the update! I hope you feel better soon! -
Ginger snap - I only live 15 minutes from the base so I can't help you on the travel stuff. What I did is I went to my primary dr and told him that I had a hard time losing more than 30 lbs after my son and that I've been having knee and back issues. I also really pushed the fact that I have a very strong family history of high blood pressure. It didn't take a lot of cajoling to get my dr to approve the surgery since my BMI is high enough and I have over 100 lbs to lose. I can tell you this, according to my nutritionist, Tricare ( in the near future) is going to want patients to lose 5% of their body weight. Right now they encourage you to lose but it's not required. ( just don't gain!)
