Taty started following Banded 4.23.12, Weird Sude Effect, Question About Starting Solids and and 4 others

I've been losing some weight since getting banded on 4/23 but yesterday and today I seem to be gaining! That's considering the fact that I'm barely eating (no junk and sweets either) and drinking lots! It's not a big gain ( .5 lb yesterday and .3lb today) but still upsetting

I got banded on 4/23 and was off all week. Today is the first day in feeling good enough not to take pain meds. I so don't want to go to work tomorrow especially since I also got a cold! Sneezing is so painful (( but of course I feel guilty taking more time off ....

Question About Starting Solids
Taty replied to Shannon28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recently discovered those little flat breads - they have while wheat and multi grain etc, great substitute if you're missing bread I think -
I haven't had soup but I've had tuna since day 2 and it's fine. I've had very little - an ounce or two. The trick is eating suuuuuper slow, even if you think you did, try slower - take breaks every bite, may be that'll help
-
So there is light at the end of the tunnel ) I sort of also feel fed up at this point but then there are times when u simply can't help it

Ever since my surgery, I've been super emotional! Literally, I can start crying at a drop of a hat!! Starting to get slightly irritating to those around Anyone else feeling like that? ;(
-
Thank you! You as well I wasn't sure whether this was to be expected It hurts when clothes brush over it as well ((

I can soooo relate to this!! I feel better this morning but still when I walk and the belly jiggled it really hurts, I'm considering my sister's maternity pants lol and you're right, sucking in isn't happening! Does the area around your port hurt more? It does for me - it feels really sensitive and sometimes when clothes touch it it's irritating it more On top of it, I woke up with the sniffles today sneezing and blowing my nose are a nightmare!

I'm a foodie so I do miss the variety but an so hopeful that eventually I'll be able to still enjoy the food in moderation. I started out in February with 232lb; at my last pre-op appt with the surgeon (prior to the liquid diet) I was at about 230; Its not clear how much I lost inge liquid diet because the scale was different than at the doc's office but I estimate Wong at around 226; as of this morning I am 216!! I'm so psyched!!!!

I am a newbie but I can relate to the reemerging fear - "OMG I can't eat things I love!" and "this lack of appetite totally take fun out of eating" - but I just really try to remind myself that it is not so and that once I'm adjusted, I will be able to eat things in moderation and make better choices. It's funny - I miss things like salad and veggies! Of course I also miss chocolate but it makes me feel good missing the "healthy" stuff because it lets me know that I WILL be able to make better food choices.

I agree that when you bend over or put a pillow under you - butping becomes easier but not always. Im amazed how so many were able to stop pain meds already - I try to hold out but by the time the pain level goes up to 6 out of 10, I give in .... I don't know if my band was filled slightly but I do feel a restriction and thankfully am not hungry but the bloating! I have no idea what to wear because I look more pregnant now than before I starts this hahaha any suggestions?

I was also banded on 4/23 - was discharged from the hospital a day later. I've been lucky in the sense that I've had no nausea and no vomitting but the pain!!! I'm not sure whether it's just gas or the sorness. I can definitely feel my port and it hurts around that area - my friends think I'm crazy because it shouldn't be that way (as they know no one else who has done it who had the same experience) Before I was released, they gave me some cream of wheat and some tuna to eat so I guess I'm not on the all clear liquid died so that's been nice but I have not been eating that much, an ounce of yogurt here, an ounce of tuna there .... it does hurt if I eat too fast - the gas in the chest, even when I sip liquids it takes a while to burp and it hurts I saw a few people say that a heating pad would help with gas - is that true for others? Glad to know I'm not alone in this ....
