  1. Hi everyone. I am being sleeved on 23rd March in Australia. I have done a lot of research into the sleeve but there is still one thing that I am worried about...I eat when I'm not hungry. I eat because I am bored, tired, happy, sad, that time of month... I am worried that I will still be able to do this after I have my sleeve. I hope that when I am hungry I can eat something healthy and then there will be no room left for me to eat when I'm not hungry. I realise that I will have to find other coping mechanisms but I'm still afraid that I will be able to over eat. I guess I am a grazer. I will have to try very hard to stick to my three meals a day. How did you go with this? How did you break your connection with food? Is anyone still tempted to eat when they are not hungry? Don't get me wrong this is not something I intend on doing but it is the only thing that I cannot get my mind around. I'm really scared of failing. This is probably due to having an unsuccessful band. I have worked hard on being positive and getting myself in the right frame of mind. This is my only concern now. Any thoughts?? Thanks :001_unsure:

    Complications after Sleeve Surgery

Thanks Tiffykins and Bonnielass for your replies I don't need to lift my children because they are 7 and 4. The problem for me will be that they will want me every five minutes so I will be up and down all the time. I'm going to have to work on their waiting skills prior to my admission! I'm glad that my surgeon insisted on making me wait the twelve weeks before performing the sleeve op. At the time I was disappointed but now I am grateful. I have a little hospital anxiety which I am going to have to deal with?when I had my band put in I developed post-op pneumonia with pleural effusions. I had drainage tubes coming out of my back to remove the fluid caught between my rib cage and my lungs. My lungs went septic and one collapsed. I was in ICU for four weeks and permanently on CPAP. It was a nightmare and I honestly thought I was going to die. When I had the band removed I also got post-op pneumonia but the anesthetist gave me an IV with Kflex antibiotics to help reduce the severity. It worked well and I only had it mildly and was able to go home after 3 days. I'm hoping my sleeve op goes well. My op is on March 23rd and I'm really going to try over the next few weeks to stick to my pre-op diet and exercise as much as I can to open my lungs. I'm hoping that the fitter and healthier I am when I go in, the faster my recovery will be :thumbup1:

So tell me about these leaks....

Thanks for the site! Good luck with the smoking thing. I quit about 7 years ago and understand how difficult it is to do. I sucked on DoubleD sugarless lollies. Don't know if you have those over there.

9 month post update with AW photos

I failed with the band and I'm afraid of failing with the sleeve but you really give me inspiration. You have such a glowing radiance about you now. Although I can't imagine eating like a naturally thin person, I certainly look forward to it! Do you mail your husband photos? I can only imagine what he's thinking

So tell me about these leaks....

mmm now you are really scaring me! I had my band removed 12 weeks ago and I'm being sleeved 23rd March. I think the risk of leaks is when the band is removed and you are sleeved in the one procedure. Anyway that's what my surgeon told me here in Australia. What is the OH site? I think I need to check it out! Good luck!

    Complications after Sleeve Surgery

Hi Bonnielass! I'm seeing my surgeon tomorrow and he will give me my surgery date. I'm hoping over the Easter holidays in April because my husband will be home. I have had my band removed and it's been out for about 10 weeks now. It needs to be out for 12 weeks before they will consider doing the sleeve. I had my classes prior to the band so only have to see the dietician once. I'm really anxious about complications and also how I'm going to cope at home after surgery because I have young children. I am curious as to the recovery time compared to having the band op. Thanks for replying to my post. Australia is a great place to live
