Like you mentioned I use little plates. When I'm serving dinner for the family I use tea plates lol so I can finish everything on my plate and not get stuffed or uncomfortable. It's all about what I can "see" for me - out of sight, out of mind.

Banded For Three Years!
fericito replied to Lap Band Gal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oh I loved reading this especially when I've been discouraged recently. You are such an inspiration!! -
I am so proud of you I can't tell you!! Hang in there - being so good will help you a lot once you're banded so YAY YOU!
-
I think it just varies based on what the dr. believes, his/her experience, etc. Whatever your doc says follow it and you'll hopefully have a great experience!
-
Glad you have this chance to regroup - use it! And hang in there it's worth it.

Anyone Want To Be My Band Big Sister Or Brother?
fericito replied to WickedCool's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'd love to be friends if you want - I was banded end of June and just recently reaching the green zone... been struggling with the weight loss a little bit but finally down a couple of pounds so thrilled about that. Friend me on here and we can talk more... -
Sounds like you got some really great ideas! I'll remember this next time I'm trying chinese.
-
I am sorry that happened, hope everything goes well for you. Good luck!

I usually order a regular sized meal and then say I'm not hungry. I can eat about a cup of food and I spread the rest around. I eat really slowly too. I haven't told anyone outside of family that I've been banded and still no one has asked me about why I eat so much less. It'll be ok. I always tell them hubby will be glad I brought home leftovers. And if I know they're having dessert (like Sat was at a bday party) I save a tiny room to take a bite or two of dessert just so know one asks. You'll be ok... hang in there!

I usually don't get discouraged so I know you guys can make me feel better. I am positive I'm in the green zone and don't need a fill - but my weight is stuck and has been for a few weeks. What can I do to feel better or see that move a little bit? I go in this week and I'm afraid of being a disappointment. What to do when your weight is stuck but your band is doing it's job? I was only banded a few months ago so I just don't want to get depressed over it... I guess at the back of my mind is that fear of failing yet again.
-
It is so hard but having the band is hard too. Being overweight is hard. Pick your hard. You can do this, I know you can. Don't give in and I PROMISE it is so worth it!

I just wanted to thank you guys for your responses. Going to support group on wednesday so hopefully that will help. Not going to give up

Getting A Fill And Losing Weight Question........
fericito replied to fitfrlife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your weight loss that is AMAZING!! I don't know what to do other than to keep doing it all the way you are and I think the weight will come. If you're in the green zone you don't need fills but if not there yet keep getting them. Diet and exercise and patience will eventually get the weight moving again... best of luck to you!! -
mine stayed on and the dr. ripped them off at my post op appt.
-
I was told not over 1200 but my weight has stalled so at my next appt. I'm going to ask the nutritionist specifically about that.
-
I'm finding that just because I can eat more doesn't mean I should - and that when I measure it out and ONLY eat a cup of food, it really does fill me up. My eyes may want more but if I walk away or make myself wait 1/2 hour or so I can usually stick to it. For me, I don't want to be any tighter even though it might make me lose weight faster - I haven't yet thrown up or pb'd - seems like a good place to be. I'm learning to find something else to fill up whatever I'm missing instead of food because I'm not actually hungry... I hope you figure it out too. Hang in there.

Confused And Fustrated
fericito replied to nikkinikole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had some similar feelings lately as far as stalled weight loss. When I asked about it my dr. said (I assume this is true, who really knows) that when you reach a point you've been at before, especially if you were there for a long time - your body remembers that and hangs on to it for awhile. I have noticed that on the days I'm feeling discouraged I I revert to my old habits of seeking comfort in food. I may only be able to get a tiny bit down but sometimes I pick ice cream instead of veggies... that's ok once in awhile but it's really REALLY not ok to be doing as often as I have been. So in being honest with myself, I have started admitting that at least a little of it is my own fault. Not saying the same is true for you but maybe you can look at everything in your life and try harder - are you exercising? Counting calories? Doing vitamins and all the rest? If the answer is no to any of it, it might help you. Time will too. Don't give up - best of luck to you. -

fericito replied to 2savemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also just wanted to add give it some time- I always feel tighter the morning after and even a few days after then when I had my fill... took me 4 fills to get to feeling green zone and now I'm here but my weight seems to have stalled for now but I'm not giving up - hope you won't either!! Best of luck to you. -
Any One Fall Off The Wagon On Pre Op Diet
fericito replied to Joy1961's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with carolinagirl - you can't change what you've done but don't risk anymore. Your dr. wants you to do this for a reason... you need to take of yourself, isn't that the point of the band? Start now. Best of luck to you. -
I am self pay. Even if the weight I've already lost is all I ever lose (pray it isn't but you never know) it was still worth the money for me. I HAVE tried all the coaching, nutrition, weight watchers, etc. I have been PERFECT at eating right, exercising, etc. for many years and still did not lose weight. My options were quickly narrowing to doing something drastic such as band or dying early and living with diabetes, obesity and a myriad of other problems by staying the way I was. My band was worth every penny because even if it never works again, it's worked this far. I am so sorry you don't feel the same way and I hope you find what you're looking for - for me, band was a wonderful decision.

Don't beat yourself up. You can and will get back to where you were. Just follow the rules same as you did until you got there last time and it will help you get there again, lose that 6 and probably even more if you want. Hang in there!!
