Ive not ben exrcising but most of my food wont stay down. I usually get in one meal a day total. Just cant eat much. Drinks lots of water and something new Ive noticed making a difference is lemon juice. Every day I have a med sinic cup of ice add pure lemon juice and a little salt. Its my best snack of the day and seems yo help the weight to continue to fall off. -

I couldn't find anything at Tropical smoothie that wasn't outrageous in calories. I used to go there every morning before work.

I do have days where I have regrets but I KNOW for a FACT I could not have lost the weight any other ways. I could lose a pound and did lose 88 on low carb but I didn't have the will power to stick to it. With the sleeve, it IS my will power. I have not choice but to eat less. The days I have regrets, I'm mad all day thinking what have I done to myself??? THen I get on the scale and it goes down and thats when I remember why I did it. I have just now started having men open doors for me. Women complimenting me and my husband in his own way starting to pay attention to me. What I didn't expect is such low energy which I think will be ok when I can keep protein down. The days I see someone eat a sandwich and I want one so bad, that is my regret or a piece of cake. Some people say one day...I will be able to eat those things again just in moderation like I should have in the beginning before surgery. I don't have a huge support system so I go to the monthly support group here in town. That helps. My mom makes comments on how I look but like any child...shes my mom...she has too. -
First Time Throwing Up...
Looking Ahead replied to enigmachik's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It feels like a piece of food at the top of your throat about 1/2 inch behind your tonsils where you can't see or where the "dip" is in your throat for a woman's neck in front. I have it often and have to force myself to throw up no matter what I eat unless its soup or grits. Anything else I still have trouble with. Sleeved June 25, 2012 -

I was 49+ BMI when I started...today I am 40.3 I think it is. Down 65 pounds today. Yes it is hard and yes I have a lot of nausea. I'm on my 9th week out and down 65 lbs. Pain lasted about 5 weeks before I started to feel "normal" except eating. I still have alot of nausea and hard time eating out. I won't eat anything without turning the container around and look at calories. If its over 230-250, I put it back. But in all reality, even if its 300, I won't eat maybe a third of it. Spicy things about kill me. I stay thirsty all the time. I ALWAYS have a glass of ice Water with me. Not because I have to but because I want it. It's a "need" for it constantly. No other drink satisfies me. It is discouraging being this overweight and my clothes - depending on the name brand- still say 2x or 22...but in other I wear XL and 18W. My mom said something that made sense...when you get home cut out the tag! As long as they fit and you feel nice and pretty and comfortable in them and know you couldn't have worn them 5 months ago....smile and go on. People are just now making comments. The preop diet was horrible and I pretty much quit eating by the end of week two. Just drank milk and went down like 15 pounds still. But after all is said and done...this IS life changing and not for everyone. Make sure you are mentally ready for what you gain and what you lose in life. I wish you all the luck in the world in making this decision. Angie -
Weight goes up and down but this morning I am down 65 pounds! Very happy. Having trouble keeping foods down. When they feel like they are in the top of my throat and I haven't eaten much, I can't help but throw them up. Grits and Soup stays down and homemade lemonade. Tired of not being able to eat out and enjoy it. My husband and I go on our FIRST ever vacation alone in the 22 years we've know each other !!!! Worried about what to eat. We have a Riverboat cruise scheduled on the trip. Please give me ideas of what to eat at fast food that is low in calorie and no bread. Places we both can eat. Thanks ! angie

The BEST thing that helped with my drain and pain in my back from the drain was a heating pad directly on the drain incision and on my back while I sat in a chair or recliner. I took it to work with me too. I had my for 7 days and the pain from the drain last another couple weeks. He said he thought it might have been laying on a nerve or hit a nerve when inserted. The pain is gone now and tomorrow is 8 weeks to the day I had surgery. About to go change my ticker numbers again.

Mine looked like that too with bright red stuff backing up. They told me I could squeeze from the stomach to the drain to push it through but I had a lot of pain after doing it like it had more suction on my stomach where it was inserted.

Does coffee help you have a bm? I'm only going about once a week. Tried correctol and it was horrible cramps, tried exlax, no help and then myralax...nothing. Help -
Keep in mind you gain weight when you are in the hospital for surgery from all the IV's and gas in your stomach. I gained 9 lbs and was furious! It started coming off about week 2-3. Stalled at 3 and then started losing again after about a week.

Oh and when I did eat...it was like 3 bites and I was full....waste of money to go out to eat this early. I went to KFC with my husband today...1/2 chicken leg and I was stuffed.

I was told to take two Flintstones vitamins a day, 500 mg of B12 chewable a day, One Prilosic in which I was to open the capsule and swallow the contents once a day, Calcium with Vitamin D. No gummies, all chewables. I also take an antidepressant and was told to crush it and I take xanax that will dissolve under you tongue (which I didn't know). Get as much water in as possible. I go around ALL day with a cup of ice water. I try to buy Sonic ice so I can crunch on it. Leave the strips over your incisions alone and let them fall off on their own. No swimming till incisions are completely healed. I was on liquids for 4 more weeks. Then to mushies which Im having trouble keeping down. I had alot of SF popcycles and still do. Don't lift over 10 lbs till he says its ok..about 4-6 weeks. You will be so tired all the time...thats normal. When your back and incision hurt...use a heating pad. When you just HAVE to have something different..tropical snows are wonderful. Also, gravey and creamed soups. Eat VERY slow to avoid the throat and chest pain. Don't drink and eat to avoid the vomiting. Hope this helps, this is all from my dr and my experiences. When the pain gets really bad, go to walmart or somewhere with shopping carts for you to hold on to. The fresh air, people and walk will help. I could only handle about 20 min of slow walking at a time. Take water in with you. I was dieing of thirst in walmart trying to walk around. If you use the vanilla protein shakes, add the little one cup instant coffee to the bottle, shake and serve over ice. Pretty good for something different.
