im curious. i've been reading a lot on the sleeve board, and see a lot of band to sleeve revisions. I'm researching all of my options and would like to know why all of yo chose hte band over the sleeve.
-
I thought the mal absorbsion wasn't supposed to be an issue w the sleeve, tha'ts why it's supposed to be such a great option. having half of my stomach hacked off is scary- as is thinking about being in a psychiatric hospital. I am already depressed. I really like the idea of hte band. thank you for your input- keep it coming! if you have opinions- throw'em at me!!

amytug replied to amytug's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
thank you ladies- this is helping me feel much much better. I also got to thinking about all the complicationst hat are associated with c-sections and they do those all the darned time. very very common. I would be more afraid to have one of those! I am definitely praying- I chose Dr. Aceves with HIS help, and I know he's guiding me through this. I have prayed though every stinking diet I've ever done, and in ever moment that I wnated to lay in bed all day because I hate being fat etc. I've prayed during times that I find it SUPER hard because i have anxiety, to go anywhere for my kids etc. THIS IS WHAT IS RIGHT FOR ME. He is with me. boriquita- wanna text? 660-998-2823- I'd love to chat with you! -
Date Scheduled But.... Complications Board
amytug replied to amytug's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you for that! I did see that nearly everyone still said that they would do it over again, that does speak volumes. Where can I read about complication rates? I have chosen dr Aceves in mx after a lot of research. I won't have an appt with him until I go for surgery. -
Date Scheduled But.... Complications Board
amytug replied to amytug's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Sorry I meant if I was in the hospital, I don't know that we could find someone to help watch the kids. Do I really want to do this while they are little? Do I really want to risk dieing to be thinner? I'm miserable with the way my life is right now as far as trying to buy clothes, etc but. . On one hand I can see all he positives that can be gained from this surgery. On the other hand I see the ultimate negative. Does anyone else have young children and went ahead and did the surgery. My bmi is 39.9. I can lose well, keeping it off is the hard part. -

amytug replied to amytug's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Oops. Silly phone. I was trying to say that my date was scheduled, I was 100% ready and then I found the complications board and now I'm cared crapless. . I have a husband and six children under the age of 11 that I will be leaving behind If I have serious complications. I also don't have many people that can watch he kids so that my husband can work. Up until now I was just excited and super happy. Now I'm just scared. -

Sleevers For Over A Year - Please Read
amytug replied to Minckle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on my phone so I'll be short. I'd never delay my surgery for someone else. I think you should 100% do what you want and feel necessary. It's your life. I don't know your family but it sounds almost like they don't want you to be eating a little but while hey are oohing out. " misery lives company". Of course. Don't know of that is true but it just seems selfish to me that hey don't want you to do something that could be IT. Diets do not work long term. You want long term. You do something for you!!! Please don't do a dirt for someone else. You re setting yourself up for failure. I hope I don't sound snarky, I care about you. And I'm having to defend myself a lot lately. It's maddening. -

ROFL "rich gringos inside." hahahahaha I'm going. I'm not concerned.. actually my research pulled up a lot of "safest cities" kinda things, and looking at the videos I've seen of hte drive and the hospital and hotel etc, i am not worried at all. I have too much to gain. -

I'll research more about mexicali etc. anyone already done this research and want to point me in the right direction, I'd love that! I am about researched out. I've done nothing all day and nearly half the nights the past few days but research. i need to sleep 3 days. lol -

I should have been more clear. I told a friend.. I swore I wasn't, and then I did. This is what she said. I wasn't expecting that She said "that's scary- I was hoping you were going on a cruise." and proceeded to try to talk me out of it. thing is- I dont want to just go because "I want this SO BAD," and jeopardize my safety. I have babies to take care of, etc. I have a surgery date and everything. I'm just wondering how true her comment is. -
June 4 Surgery W Dr Aceves
amytug replied to amytug's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh great news!!!! I am totally ready! I did read some things today that are kindof scaring me about the sleeve. people talking down about it. that's not helpful! oh that's June 4th- why didn't I write that? -
I put his in this forum because I'm ore op ( and so excited and nervous) hopefully that was ok. I need to know what kinds of Protein sources are popular around these parts for the first weeks post op, healthy please. I am not a fan of HFCs or artificial sweeteners outside of stevia. Does that leave slim pickings?? Also, I saw someone mention once that someone had the wrong kind of protein. What are the right and wrong kinds? I'm in a small town with a Walmart super center but can order online if necessary. Thanks, Amy

Oh I'm so crazy excited for you both!!!!! I haven't scheduled yet, still working on the fine tuning. ( finances, passport etc). How long ago did you make your appt?

Dr. Aceves Gastric Sleeve Surgery Information
amytug replied to Malaika's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Wonderful!!! I have chosen dr. Aceves and I couldn't be more excited!!! Taking notes. -
I haven't had surgery yet, but something I used to say when dieting and scraping my kids plates into the trash, or throwing food out.. if I'm putting it in when i shouldn't, i AM wasting it. I am not a garbage disposal. I dont know, maybe that was way OT. it's late, and i'm fuzzy brained. ' Lissa is right though. It's so good to have these forums before gettingthe surgery.

Garcia, Alvarez, Aceves- So Confusing!
amytug posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
What does it boil down to? How in the world did you choose? I mean some are cheaper, but do I really want to go with cheap when it comes to surgery? I'd love any and all info you want to throw my way in regards to choosing a surgeon. I did speak with what I thought was Dr. Kellys coordinator, Sandy and she says they let him go. her words- "we won't work with a Dr. we wouldn't go to ourselves." OK??? O.o I guess I won't go to him. :/ So now there is Dr. Garcia. Dr. Alvarez is closest to home... not close, but closest- being right outside of tx and I'm in MO. -
Garcia, Alvarez, Aceves- So Confusing!
amytug replied to amytug's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
wow, that is awesome! I am actually leaning toward Alvarez. I didn't like the video I saw of dr kelly on youtube. I know that sounds silly, but I totally want someone I feel I could feel totally at ease around, and he seems kinda... well not approachable? dr alvarez, in one of the videos, put his hand on the patient and seems so kind and like a friend. I really want that kind of experience. He just seems super friendly. Aceves being my second choice, but I haven't done a lot of research on him yet. I like his face.. LOL he looks super friendly as well. I like a really sweet dr. -

ohhh okay. I'm just a big gal in a small town, never been out of my time zone, lol. never been on a plane.. Just married my highschool sweetheart and had 6 babies and i'm a somewhat sheltered sahm. I don't even fully know what a coordinator is, but THANK YOU for that! I really had my mind set on Dr. Kelly. OK now how do I find him? lol what facility is he at now? -
Hello- my name is Amy, I'm a 28 year old Mom of 8. (edit- mom of 6, not 8, lol) I'm 5'3" tall and 225 lbs. I've tried nearly every diet under the sun including hcg, raw vegan, no s, weight watchers multiple times etc. I'm sure myt story is similar to the rest of you. I hate buying clothes, so I kindof live in rags. I hate going out in public, and I'm absolutely NOT living life. I want to be the best wife, mother, daughter etc that i can be. I want to be me. I just heard about this surgery last week and I am set on going to dr. kelly. I'm calling his coordinator today to find out more. whbat do I need to ask the coordinator? Or does she know all that I need to know and should I just listen? I have called this morning but I believe it was like 6am there. I'll wait a bit. I have spent a lot of time on youtube watching videos of patients that have had the surgery etc trying to get educated- what all do I need to know? Is there a link somewhere where I can dfind info? I am SO SO SO SO EXCITED, I can barely stand it! I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Dear God, please let this be my answer! I need an answer. I'm miserable in this prison of fat.
