I Cannot Wait To Wear_______(Fill In)
amytug replied to Diamondeyed's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes yes yes!!!! I am so with you on that. I am so tired of buying crappy tshirts and yoga pants because everything else is so uncomfy or squeezes here or dogs in there. I feel frumpy, ugly and grumpy. -
I Cannot Wait To Wear_______(Fill In)

Mine isn't fancy or anything. I can't wait to wear clothes from the "normal" side of the store. And to actually feel sexy in a nightie. -
Anyone Having Surgery Next Week In Tj?
amytug replied to mbabercrombie's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
For those of you saying you are going in February, have you already scheduled and paid? Do we have to schedule this far in advance? -
Is anyone else getting surgery around tax time? We aren't positive it it looks like I'll finally be able to get the surgery around February-April . I'd love to have a little group of "countdown friends. " I'm going to mx, by the way. Not sure which dr yet. I'm thinking Ponce fe Leon or Garcia.

I just want to say that I totally feel you. I had a breadown just today, in front of dh. And I'm the type that puts up walls and tries not to let my weaker side show. My weight affects EVERY aspect of my life. I'm all around grumpier when I'm 233 lbs at 5'4" tall, and I know for a fact it's related to my weight and also to my "sugar usage." When I know I'm doing what's right, eating healthy, and taking care of myself, my self esteem is much much higher. So while I'll still have "issues," I'll love me more. And I think you will too.

So, I was watching a video by dr Alvarez and he said that if you have a larger stomach he uses a larger bougie and smaller stomach =smaller bougie. Them I see se surgeons say they use x size, always. I've also heard people say " I think my sleeve is bigger than others, I can eat way more than other sleeve patients". I don't want that!!! Where can I read about drs success rates? Maybe that is what I need to be looking at? Sent from my iPhone using VST

for insurance? How far along are you? what's your story? I dont know if this will take off, but it'd be nice if we could use this as a place to encourage one another, discuss waht we are going through, etc. Wanna?

Can a vegan get the sleeve?

I've been pretty dead set on the vsg, because it removes the portion of the stomach that controls grehlin, and that is supposed to supress hunger. i"m not fully understanding how the lap band reduces hunger if it's not getting rid of the grehlin. I am also not seeing how you dont feel hungry when you eat only a tiny bit when the foodyou eat is still going into the larger portion of your stomach. forgive my ignorance, I'm really trying to learn what is best idea for me. also- where is the best place to read about how people eat after getting the band?

did anyone else go through this? I called the insurance company. the first time they said "sure, lose as much weight as you can, tha'ts what the 6 months are for." I was leary so i called again. second person said "no- do not lose weight, that would put you under bmi 40 and with no co morbidities, you wouldn't qualify for surgery at the end of the 6 mos." today I called AGAIN to get an answer and they said they couldn't find the answer to my question and they needed to ask someone higher up and she'd call me back. "it might be a day, or even a week or 2 before we can get you an answer." OH PLEASE! I know this will all pass, and I'll look b ack and giggle at my impatience, but right now that seems like forever. as if I'm not already doing enough for the insurance company. dealing with insurance is annoying. I so wish I had cash for Mexico.

Needed: Xxl, Or 18/20 Workout Clothes
amytug posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Im not losing and haven't lost yet, since I'm not sleeved yet, so I don't have any clothes to swap, but I'd love to find a few used items for working out. Preferably tank tops for shirts. Mug appreciated, Amy -
im not doing all that, because I can't lose weight. ha! imagine that! my bmi is 40.7 and that means I can lose 4 lbs. sigh. 68 lbs preop is great! oh but yes, it's 6 consecutive months. if you go at the beginning of may and the end of may and skip june, it wont count, and youll have to go back and start over. annoing, isn't it? the bariatric lady explained it to me that way, and said that's the way the ins company tries to get out of paying for the surgery.

Would You Do The Gastric Sleeve Again?
amytug replied to Barb7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Love. This. Thread. It's hard not to smile when you hear from so many happy people! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
IM gonna die doing all liquids. That's probably an exaggeration bit I'm pretty sure I won't make it. I did the hcg diet twice and could not make it past 4-5 days both times because I felt like I was going to pass out. Can I just do like 2 weeks of super low carb even if my surgeon says liquids? Okay- I can do that! I guess I am being a little dramatic. I have a way of making everything harder than it needs to be- it's a talent of mine ty for the suggestions. I was never actually tested for hypoglycemia, but I went to the dr I had before the one I'm using now, about 10 years ago and he said he thought that was what it was and put me on a low carb diet. that was it. I could get tested.. Maybe if I get tested for that and sleep apnea- if I have both, maybe I'll actually have 2 co morbidities and that would mean that I can lose a bit of weight before surgery. I shall talk to my dr. is hypoglycemia considered a co morbid condition?

Oh yeah, how many leak tests does he do?

Hello, I wonder if I messaged you first or if I wrote this first. Lol. It was late, for me. Thank you for answering my questions. I don't think I've read anything negative about him and I just get a good feeling about him. He seems super sweet.

I'm still doing my research and everyone says "think twice, cut once.". So I'm considering the DS thinking that long term, it might be best for keeping the weight off. Did any of you sleevers consider the DS? Why did you choose the sleeve? It certainly is easier to find a surgeon that does the sleeve. Sent from my iPhone using VST
