week long STALLLLLLLL! any advice?
amytug replied to skinnywithin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mokee, that's not a fact. But you could be right. I'd say more Water is a perfect place to start. A liter is only 32 oz, you need 64. I don't meet that, I get about 50 a day, and I can't seem to get more yet. I'm only 6 weeks. Also it's not all water. Decaf tea, a Protein drink, a g2, etc. I wouldn't up carbs until the water thing doesn't work or sure. Also, a week, in my opinion, is not a relentless stall. It's only a week. Give it time. Oh. Also. I'd throw one or two higher calorie days in there/week. That usually throws a body off somehow and gets that motor running again. -
I had buyers remorse in the first 3 weeks. I had a complication though, so my recovery was a little worse than someone who sails right through it. I'm 6 weeks now and since around week 3.5 I have never regretted it again. Best decision ever.

To a nicer mirror. Lol This journey is so full of ups and downs and surprises and finding out things about ourselves we never knew, triumphs, face-plants, etc. this isn't even a negative post, it's just a part of the journey. I'm LOVING the journey, but there are little bugs that I'd like to squash. Like today I finally figured the recipe and nut info for the homemade Protein balls here on vst. I'd been figuring them at 100 a pop for about 2 weeks. They were 121 each. There were days that I ate 4 throughout the day. That's 80 calories more than I thought I was eating. Learned a valuable lesson.

How much are you able to eat at one time?
amytug replied to NHJulie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
6 weeks. I can eat 2 oz dense Protein. Sometimes less, sometimes I can throw in a half slice of cheese. -
I'm 6 weeks out and I seem to stay around 60 or under. I was going to aim for 20 or under but that's REALLY hard. Somehow, I could eat less carbs pre sleeve on Atkins induction . Not sure what's going on. Anyway. I feel pretty good.

I was driving the other day and thought my tall husband had lowered the seat. I kept pushing the button to raise it and have up because it wasn't working. Then a light bulb went off. My butt isnt as fat, which resulted in my being lower on the seat. Lol

Diet .... 6 weeks out
amytug replied to tpietrowski's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On phone. Lots of typos. I guess I'm fortunate in that I can eat almost anything. I focus mostly on meet and cheese, cheese and meat. Then eggs or eggbeaters. Today I might try cottage cheese again, but I find it quite boring. Here is what I ate yesterday. Portions are very small. I don't eat bread or pasta becaise 1) not a gold source of protein, 2) it just seems like a filler food to me and 3) it makes me crave more carbs and I don't need that. Not yet anyway. My goal is 600-800 calories 60+oz fluids 64g + protein Less than 60 carbs. That's not to say that Ieet those goals but that's my plan. I still don't get 64oz fluids and I don't think I've made the protein very often. I don't love protein drinks, I'd rather chew my calories and my protein, so I'm trying to get in a lot of that. -
I didn't think mine would because they were always the skinniest thing on me. I'm down only 29 lbs and already wearing the shoes that were too small and reserving my old favorites for workouts.

meltdown at the grocery store!
amytug replied to michelle4873's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 4 weeks are torture. Hypoglycemia, hormones changing rapidly, our lifeline being taken away. I'm 6 weeks now and I can confidently say that it gets better. For me it was 3 1/2 weeks out. A few days after figuring out "purées" it does get better and though while you're living in it it seems like forever, I look back at that time and chuckle at my pathetic self. Lol -
It was around week 3 for me. Maybe around 3 1/2 weeks? When the purée diet started.
