    University Of Colorado Hospital???

Well I go for my appointment tomorrow so i will definitely let you know how it goes. Just a quick note though, make sure that you call them, they didn't even put me on the wait list for an appointment until after I called them! It only took 3 months for them to call me with an appointment which isn't bad, last year it took them almost 8 months!!!!
  3. Hi everyone, I have sat here for hours and read so much that you all have posted but I still want more answers. I know that I'm not going to get everything that I need because I do have to experience it for myself, however I'm scared and nervous. I've never had any kind of surgery before, matter of fact, both of my children were born completely natural and they were so healthy that they sent me home packing within 24 hours. So the thought of being in a hospital does make me nervous. If you all can help me with this....after my consultation do they schedule the appointment for the surgery right away? I'm in Colorado and will be going to the University of Colorado Hospital, if anyone knows what the facilities are like that would be very helpful. I know that it is laparoscopic surgery, how long do the hospital stays usually last? I see a lot of pre-op diets and was wondering if they are just your typical Protein shakes that you can get from walmart? I know that I'm asking a lot and I promise that I don't mean to be a pain, I had the opportunity to get this out of the way last year and chickened out when they called me for my appointment. I've made it my mission to talk to friends or anyone who knows to better educate myself on what I'm getting into. So far I am in love with this site but would love to get more feedback! Thank you so much for all of you that read this and answer my questions, you are angels!!!!!!! Jessica

    Medicaid

I live in Colorado and have Medicaid...I just happened to ask my doctor one day when I was prescribed phentermine to assist with losing weight. He said that in most states if you are 100lbs overweight and have a high bmi and medically proven health issues that they will approve it no questions asked. I am 30 years old and have high blood pressure, lower back problems and an overactive thyroid. I'm only exactly 100lbs over weight but my doctor sent a referral and two months later they called me. There is typically a waiting list for medicaid recipients and it differs in every state. I suggest talking to your General Physician and seeing what your options are. For me it started with the weight loss pills and the fact that they weren't helping whatsoever irregardless of the fact that I was also seeing a dietitian and exercising regularly. My doctor felt that this would be my only hope. I chickened out the first time they called because I wasn't very well educated and really scared but now I know what I'm getting myself into and have my consultation scheduled for May 18th. I wish you the best of luck, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions or just want to talk!!!
  6. Thanks everyone, this is all great information. When the doctors office called me to set the appointment they also sent me all of my paperwork to have filled out prior to me getting there. In that paperwork in many different areas, it repeatedly said that this will be the only appointment prior to my surgery so I'm not sure what else there is. Anyhow, I do appreciate all of the support and am very grateful to have found this site. I will keep in contact, it's always nice for new people such as myself to be able to have answers as this can be a scary procedure!

    Just Starting On My Journey

Hello, I go to my consultation next month on the 18th. Best of luck to you, I know that I'm a bit hesitant. I was actually on the waiting list for a whole year last year when they called and I decided not to go through with it. After talking to a few friends and reading these posts I can say that I'm much more confident this time around than I was the last. I am ready to shed this weight...it hasn't been easy on me or my children but I know that the reward in the end is going to be well worth it! Good luck to you....
