I can honestly say I have done better on my band and have lost more the second year by having conservative fills the first year and more aggressive ones this year.

I'm actually going in for a gallbladder ultrasound due to the pain between blades in mid back, some reflux, and a couple of nauseating events. Just in past week or so. Told surgeon and he asked if I have my gallbladder. Immediately scheduled ultrasound. Do we will see in next two days.

I add olive oil and lemon with rosemary seasoning. It seems to moisten it up...don't over bake or over sauté.
-
Try Schwans breast unbreaded it is the only chicken I can eat.

I truly believe that slower weight loss is better. I think you have done fabulous so far!

Don't be down. I had conservative fills but really started feeling restriction after 4cc in 10 band. All of us are different. Now I'm at 5.75 and majorly in green zone but haven't felt real well past week. May need an unfill but not sure. Know that we are here to support you as we may not have the best or right answers. Really talk with your doc ( nurse doesn't seem to have much empathy) hopefully he will listen to your feelings.

Yes Banderina I had a cup of popcorn and a hot buttered rum right before bed. Ok that probably was it...but the tummy flu going around at our school staff and kiddos. I'm so paranoid about getting sick. Those foods were a no no. It just didn't hit til later. Our bands a reminder of the behavior tools we need to follow right? I had just never had a reaction like that.

I just had a strange incident happen last night out of the blue. Around 2:30 in the morning I woke up feeling nauseated ( not typical) I rushed to the bathroom as I felt like I was going to heave, like stomach flu. Nothing came up it was horrible. My hubby got me the Zofran. I laid back down wit washcloth on head for about 30 minutes and fell asleep. But, I haven't felt much like eating food. I feel thirsty so I am drinking. So scared it could become a stomach virus. Just have a headache today. Not sure to go in tomorrow to check it out or just see. Middle of my back is killing me.

Have you tried sucking on Gatorade ice chips or regular ice chips?

I'm two years post op December 21. O have not had real throwing up yet. But, my surgeon gave me a prescription of Zofran (anti-nausea that dissolves on tongue) I work at a preschool so viruses have come and gone. I fear it too. Is it true we she should get an unfill if this happens?

For me it took about three weeks to really feel normal again. -
How Did You Decide On Lap Band Versus Sleeve?
Skyvic replied to kellren's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I chose band to have control on restriction and go slower so I could get used to it...crazy but worked for me. I didn't want cut, and I didn't want dumping syndrome. Also I have a sister who had bypass. Not for me, she is considering lap now. -
It depends I suppose. I don't really know enough about sleeve. However, I am a quantity eater and the band worked for me, I ate less, not much bread or stuff that got me fat in first place. She may have to really ask those kinds of questions. I have a friend who is very successful on sleeve.

KFC individual mash potatoes and gravy, French onion soup w/o bread, tomato bisque soup, deviled ham or chicken, cream of wheat, broccoli cheese soup, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, chilis chicken enchilada soup minus chicken....let me think so long ago.

Over Thanksgiving I drive from Colorado to Tennessee...noticed that my band was extra tight, routine a little off, and relatives. Now that I am home I want to get on track...but I weighed in and I ended up losing four pounds over the homiday...yay!!!!
-
Yep...ups and downs but I try to get what I can and then may supplement with a protein shake. Travel, stress, swelling at TOM can make it or break it.

As you get fills, you would be amazed how even 1/4 cc can make a difference especially as you get tighter on fills.or closer I should say. I have been pretty conservative in my last 3 fills (1/4) all is well and some have bordered too tight. Just take journey slower.

Well said. Stuck episodes are learned rather quickly and you may stuck one day on a food and possibly be able to eat it another day. Those rules of chew small bites, chew well, eat slow, etc are rules that are more meaningful as you begin to get fills and restriction becomes more apparent. So e foods tolerated by one person may not be tolerated by you. I also describe it as a bad case of acid reflux that doesn't know whether it should sit at stomach or get out!!!! You don't necessarily feel like you are dying but you will feel like it needs to get out of you...like a bird regurgitating. There are signs I get...my mouth gets watery, a need to swallow more, sort of deer in headlights feeling but not choking. I have had to sit and contemplate and then get up quickly to go to bathroom and literally look at toilet. For me I feel like a velociraptor sliming out a bone! It's not throwing up your guts ... It's expelling what didn't go down. For me one experience was a hard skinned tomato chunk that really stuck because I didn't chew it well enough. Throwing up is a bad thing on your band, I don't care for stuck episodes because its not good for band yet it is a tool to curb behaviors such as large bites, not chewing enough, eating too fast and too much...all if these which caused me to be 274 pounds in first place:(

Honestly this band worked for me because I am such a quantity eater...slower but steady and more permanent loss. Can't change me at this point because my sister had bypass and that did not work for her so it goes both ways as she is considering band over bypass. It takes work on both procedures.

Better Now, Thank You Guys For Helping!!!
Skyvic replied to SashaWLS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hmmmm funny but my sister had the bypass years ago and gained her weight back...she is considering band over bypass now. I think you can be a success or a failure. Don't let people put you down for your decision. I am pleased with mine...faster is not always better. I'm happy that my fat has molded back into my arms or I should say off...I'm shapely and feel good. Might have taken longer but it will last. Ok I'm on my soap box now! -
Higher leather boots...not exactly like pirate boots but stylish brown leathers with a nice pair of tight jeans maybe size 10.
-
Congrats on banding...you will do great!!!!
