I'm too scared, and think I will try it myself.
Skyvic replied to SandyC2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had all these fears too! But after almost two years banded it is the healthiest and best thing for my body. I can move, play, shop for awesome clothes, go work out, etc. I feel healthy!!!!! The side effects are small and even though you hear about PB, reflux every once in a great while, too much restriction or not enough...it's worth it and can be reversed!!!! I have no regrets, feared surgery just like you. It's in God's hands so that's how I look at it. I am very satisfied! -

Pain eating and drinking after fill...
Skyvic replied to sherrypep's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Unfill a tiny tiny bit...do not suffer its not worth the risk of a band slip or feeling miserable. It's crazy how a very small fill can make a huge difference, as well as an unfill. I'm looming at a lot of similar posts including me. Maybe the stress of holidays, traveling, the winter...but many if us are experiencing much more restriction that may need slight unfilled. I have been banded two years this month. Learning to listen to my body. I'm almost at goal and need to take a step back and reflect on this journey. It didn't come off over night, and I'm not on a time constraint. Take care of our health:) -
To add...I did wait maybe longer than I should have, partly because I was in denial and loosing a load of weight can't beat that!!! But not at the expense of my health, an emergency ultrasound, normal, and good chat with my awesome surgeon. Don't wait too long. The band isn't supposed to be painful to us.

Same scenario for me...fill 1/4cc on Octiver 15, was thrilled I needed it. After three days required full liquids, I slowly started adding food. Felt quite in green done for about two weeks but it just felt more restricted. Past month I have had piercing shoulder blade pain, discomfort while eating, belching like a trucker, and no energy. I quit exercising just too tired...has an unfill yesterday and am so relieved. The pain in shoulder blades has subsided. I feel so much better!!!!! Surgeon said this is how the band tells our bodies what we need or don't need so much of. Ill go back in a month or so for a fill, but not now. Good luck.

Might be too soon to tell if you ate too tight. For me it sometimes took up to two or three weeks before it felt good. This last fill for me was too tight and I unfilled 1/4cc. If you are burping, coughing at night, have discomfort while eating, and feel restricted with even back pain, you may be too tight, Make sure you are following all those rules before you decide to go in. Tweak that first. If you are following the rules, you will know to go in.

I like your post. I'm 12 pounds to goal, i took two years this December with very conservative fills. I'm at 5.75 cc and this is where I belong after a slight unfill yesterday. I like the way I feel. I should have lost faster but I chose to lose slowly along with exercise. The past month after a restricting fill, I realized this was not healthy. I lost quite a bit of weight in November, but not at the expense of unhealthy eating or hardly eating at all.

Had an unfill today just 1/4cc out. The pinch nerve feeling between shoulder blades and neck has subsided. Could this have anything to do with the vagus nerve and the band restriction? I all ready feel like a million bucks with that small unfill....has been 5 hours since unfill.

My port is above and left of my belly button about six inches above.

No regrets. You go through ups and downs. At times I felt deprived and at other times empowered by the ability to lose weight steadily without being hungry. You learn to adjust to this new life. Wait til you can go shopping or take long walks or runs with your kids. You must learn to listen to your body as you go through adjustments, this I am learning what too much restriction can do to your health. No regrets.

What's Your Current Band And Fill Size?
Skyvic replied to Banderina's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a 10cc band in which I had 6cc in there but too restricted. Went back down to 5.75cc yay!!!! So much better feeling. 12 pounds to goal. -
My unfill of 1/4cc was not painful at all ( the lidocaine shots stung a little) after a few sips of water through straw in office, I could feel a difference. I believe this was the right decision as much as I didn't want to.

I am so glad you are posting this. My unfill is definitely the right decision for me now. Will see what the next two months will be. I have an option to get a fill, but my body needs to get healthy again.

To Fill Or Unfill That Is The Question?
Skyvic replied to ohappyday999's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good for you on unfill. I did 1/4cc as well. Glad I did it as hard as it was. I've lost 16 pounds in three weeks so his concern was not weight, but for me to hydrate and eat healthy. I'm 11 pounds to goal, I will have to exercise more and continue to eat healthy. I was only able to get a few bites and barely 1/4 cup. Will see how next few days go...liquid today and tomorrow. -
I just got back. My surgeon took 1/4cc out and wants me to call him Monday. Ill be on liquids for next couple days. Thank you so much for the advice and words of wisdom. If I'm eating healthy again I should be able to get back on my exercise regimen which I had neglected for the past few weeks. My biggest fear of course is gaining. I will do my best to make healthy choices. Not a big fan of Christmas goodies...will stay cautious though. Just tonight, that pinched nerve feeling is subsiding in my back. Still sore but no belching while drinking liquids. I hope I made the right decision for the next month. I was definitely in the red zone... Just in denial. Those who are feeling that way, don't compromise your health or band by staying in red zone. He told me "this is why the band is made...to let you know when it needs adjusted". Love my surgeon, good listener, helps me solve my own conflicts by inquiry. Will see how the next few weeks go. Thx u

Love my band but fills are required. Good accountability, monitor your body and listen to it!!!!! I'm sure all surgeries work well but only a tool. I like the band I'm a quantity eater it works for me:)

Yah have it now. They checked gallbladder it's normal. My band is restricting causing referred pain between shoulder blades (angel wings) have some belching and some PB) I go I today for infill... But don't do anything until you talk with your doc first to figure it out before an unfill. This us first time I have experienced it consistently for days.

To Fill Or Unfill That Is The Question?
Skyvic replied to ohappyday999's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you are on that make it or break it edge, err on the side of caution. I'm in your place but getting a possible unfill at 3:00 this afternoon. My band is finicky and I had questioned myself last fill whether I should or not. Only 1/4cc but it has unsettled my body in many ways. It's so hard to gauge it. Just remember out health comes first, weight can slow if it needs to for our health sake. -
Would like to add...I live my band and I'm 10 pounds to goal no regrets...just wanting to keep safe and healthy.
-
Oops continued. So after ultrasound of innards look normal, I have come to the conclusion that my body needs better nutrition, less reflux or pain, among a few issues. I wanted to deny it but after family has noticed and I don't like too much restriction, it's time. He will see me this afternoon to determine what we do. I'm a little scared...of unfill and of gaining. I've lost 16 solid pounds in 3 weeks. Should be happy but not sure if healthy. Need all advice, encouragement, I'm a little sensitive today.

I'm wondering if you may need a small fill. Amazing what a 1/4cc fill can do. Make sure you are getting plenty if protein and water. Hang in there.
